"Placed order. Five days later I was invited to cancel my order with the item out of stock. I cancelled. They said 7-10 business days to tell me if they could cancel the order. It's now been 14 business days and they still can't tell me if the order is cancelled. "
"I ordered 5 items. Then I cancelled one of the items. But next day when I checked the updated order status, I surprisingly found that all of my items were showed as cancelled. Woo...Ok, FINE... Then I decided to order the items buy.com had cancelled from newegg.com. Ironically, several days after I got the shipping from newegg.com, Buy.com shipped the items they cancelled. And my order status on their website was mysteriously changed from "cancelled" to "shipped". And I feel so sorry that I had to return the newegg.com order even though they did not do anything wrong: because buy.com makes their return/refund process extremely difficult and slow. So I feel I have to write this down here."
"I ordered a camera/printer bundle for my uncle, at a great price i must mention. Unfortunately i never recieved it, they shipped it and it was lost(i think, they didn't know what happened), I called them and they told me they could send out a replacement but it woudl take 10-15 days to process the exchange, then they would send out a new one. I told them i ordered this a month ago and i would like it ASAP. then i was told if needed to order another one to get it shipped out immediately? I told them i would not order another one until they refunded the first one.. I am very disappointed, the Cust Service was useless, they could'nt do anything but read to me what was on their screen. Beware, the prices are great, but the poor, unprofessional Customer service is absolutely ridiculous.."
"The site specified FEDEX shipping. The receiving address was picked because a person would be there to sign for the package and FEDEX delivers there. The shipment was eventually given to USPS and the receiving locatation does not receive direct shipments via USPS (A post office box is used). This caused the shipment to be returned to buy.com's warehouse by USPS. "
"I was checking a different company (which by the way I am not going to do business with Willoughbys) and after reading real scary comments about them I decided to check on my truly trusted Buy.com. I was amazed at what people had written and given them such bad reviews. I've been buying from them for about 3 years now and have nothing but positive experience. I just bought my 1st GPS and it came the time promised with free shipping. My hats off to these guys. "
"I ordered an audio shelf at 6:30 pm on Sept 22 and cancelled the order 2 hours later because my wife informed me that she had already purchased one. The following morning I called customer service to be sure this was understood and was told that it would take 4 to 5 working days to see if my cancellation request would be honored. Despite clear rejection, I received an e-mail 24 hours later that the item had been shipped. Multiple phone calls of protest were made but the best result was an e-mail stating that I could refuse the shipment, which I did. Interestingly, the UPS driver said that the package was damaged anyway. Despite the return of the item, I received no acknowledgement and made another phone call to find out the status. It was acknowledged that the item had been received but never an e-mail. I should mention that all these phone calls were obviously to India. On Dec. 22nd, I received my American Express statement with the charge in place. I immediately cancelled payment through Am Ex. Luckily, there is a paper trail through UPS documenting shipment, return and even the damaged nature of the goods. There was no excuse for ever shipping the item in the first place, the company was totally unresponsive and would happily have accepted my money unethically and I will obviously never do business with them again. I would encourage all to follow this advise."
"For the most part, Buy.com offers a pretty good service. However, their customer service team is completely unresponsive. In November I ordered a PDA as a Christmas present for my husband, thinking I'd beat the holiday rush and get it well in advance of Christmas. A day or two after placing the order, I was notified via email that there was a problem processing my credit card. I promply submitted a response to the questions they had and upon submission of the email received an automated reply that said, "Someone will call you within 24 hours." No one EVER called. After a week I called and was told that the situation was still being processed through the credit card authorization dept. I called again two days later for a status update and was told, "Oops, sorry, that item is not out-of-stock." As it was already the second week of Dec. by this point I couldn't find the item anywhere else. I completely missed out on being able to give my husband the only thing he wanted for Christmas. "
"I'm not sure what you guys are doing wrong, or missing, but my first experience with buy.com was a very positive one. I ordered Green Day's new album, since they were the only real place I could seem to find it in stock. The price was reasonable. I chose to go with the 2-3 day shipping method so I would receive the item in time for Christmas, and sure enough, I did. Ordered the 17th, got it in the mail on the 21st. Everything was quick and as promised. No problems here."
"I ordered a 17" monitor from Buy.com on December 18, 2004. The site indicated that it was in stock but it is not updated in real time. I called later to customer service and was told that it was on back-order. However, they assured me that I would not be charged until the product was shipped. Unfortunately, this was not true. My debit card statement indicated that Buy.com had taken the full purchase price out of my bank account. This money has been in limbo for several days, frozen by Buy.com. Customer service continued to tell me when I call that I was not charged. I have sent two messages by email to customer support but none have been answered. I cancelled my order and am reporting them to the FTC. I tried once more to call them today. Actually I called twice, on the first call I asked for the availability of the monitor without mentioning my order number. They indicated that it is in stock. I called again wanting an update on my specific order and the same monitor is on back-order. This is a terrible company. Customer support is non-supportive. "
"Buy.com USED to be good. Now, they're one of the worst online companies I've ever dealt with. I ordered a USB stick that "would be shipped as soon as they became in stock." Being a relatively savvy shopper, I only ordered it because there was a great rebate offered. I shared my find with 3 co-workers, 1 of whom ordered the day I did, while the other 2 procrastinated and missed the rebate deadline (but still ordered it). Those 2 co-workers received their USB sticks within a week, while I (and the other co-worker) had not received ours after a month. We kept getting e-mails from buy.com, saying they would ship ours as soon as they became in stock. Meanwhile, the rebate expired (how convenient)... I cancelled my order, but my co-worker didn't, and just received hers this past Friday, nearly 2.5 months after ordering it.
The kicker - I sent 3 e-mails to customer support: the first two did not get a response (except the automated one saying they received the message), the third got a response which did not even remotely answer my question or help me.
I had a buy.com credit card, which I am in the process of cancelling, and I will never buy from them again. There are too many other, far superior internet sites out there..."

As of today, I had no problem with any shipment whatsoever (so I realy don't know anything about returns etc.), the products are very clearly displayed and specified on their site, great special deals occasionaly, and always shipped within days."

I placed an order for an Ipod and a portable 7” LCD player on Monday. Come Wednesday the status still showed as “processing”. I called Buy.com and they told me that it will be another 24 to 72 hours before it ships. That’s almost a week after placing an order. I did not like that response and cancelled the order on line and confirmed cancellation with a telephone call to their customer disservice. They assured me that the order is cancelled and nothing will be mailed. I then placed an order with Ecost.com for the identical item, and Ecost.com shipped out the items within 12 hours!!!
Come Friday I receive an email from Buy.com that my orders have shipped. I called them up and demanded that they either divert shipment or send out postage paid mailers to me. They refused to do either, stating that once the order is cancelled they have 7 to 9 business days to actually process the cancellation. What kind of BS is that?
I can see now why their ratings are heading for the freezing point. I will NEVER shop with them again. Good prices or not, they are not worth a few dollars and a huge headache.

"I do not know what happened, but I'm extremely upset.
I placed an order with an email coupon on 12/1 that was cancelled with no EXPLANATION or NOTIFICATION. I did not find out until I went back to the site to find out what had happened and saw that it was cancelled.
Well, I reordered the items (without the benefit of the coupon the second time) on 12/9. Guess what? Can you say CANCELLED AGAIN? I have no idea what on earth is going on, but I am livid. I was counting on Buy.com's fast delivery for Christmas presents that I am taking to Canada to give to my in-laws. Now, I will have to find an alternative method...
I have emailed their order support, and may change my rating depending on the answer that I get from them, but they need to do something...

Buy.com has not responded to any email that I have sent, and as such, I have felt compelled to file a formal complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau. At this time, I would not recommend any purchases from Buy.com based on my terrible experience there."
