"Items say in stock, but after ordering the order, it get processed and then to sent to warehouse, about 1 or 2 days later a email comes saying it's out of stock, went back and check online for the product it says still in stock!!. Called the buy.com number, went to india. and i told her the sku's and she says it's in stock and then i told her to look at my order. She say oh sorry, i was looking on the website, but it's really out of stock. What the hell?? What kind of company needs you to Request a cancellation???? If you didn't ship it or if it's out of stock. You should be able to cancel right away!!

I'm really disappointed, i am a buy.com customer since 2000, wtf they really gone down the drain. Buyer Beware!!!

"Shows in stock but a week later they are "still looking" for it. They have no idea what they have so beware if you order...they likely don't have it in stock no matter what their website says. Not the first time I have had this problem but definitely the last time I will bother with Buy.com."

"Something seriously wrong is happening with Buy.com. I have placed over 100 orders with them with very few problems. Now I have found out the following.

#1 They have outsourced their support to New Delhi India.

#2 They admit their web site does not give accurate stock totals and they "suddenly" go out of stock on items. This has happened to me on the last two orders of FOUR different items.

#3 They claim they email with notification but you never recieve it.

#4 You may cancel your order with customer support yet you still recieve the goods a few days later.

I am no longer able to order from them with any confidence level that the goods will be shipped timely or that they even have them in stock. When I called a local number I have, they told me someone will call me back within 24 hours. Based on the other comments I see here on resllerratings, I think something is seriously wrong with Buy.com and I would avoid ordering from them anything you need to be delivered by a certain date.

7/30/04 Of note, someone from the US was supposed to call me within 24 hours of my request. No suprise that no one called. This
company must be in big trouble.

7/31/04 They shipped it anyway even after it was cancelled. You see, according to customer support the cancel department wasn able to notify the wharehouse in time, I guess it takes more than 48 hours.

8/2/04 They gave me an RMA to ship it back, at MY EXPENSE. We are no working on getting this fixed too. They are supposed to contact me within 48 hours. We will see....

8/5 Called again, I was assured that the "concerned" department will contact me. It seems they are quite busy. I fear this is hopeless and I will have to pay for the return.

8/12 The "concerned" deperment never called. I shipped back the delivered item at my expense.
Thier customer service continues to be appalling.
Now I have to wait and see if they credit my credit card.

"I've used Buy.com in the past, and have been fairly happy with them. The only thing that bugged me was their Spamming. I complained so much that they deleted my account. Ok, fine.

Anyway, this last order, I ordered a Canon Digital Rebel, and a 512MB CF Memory card. The camera was shipped the next day, but NO memory card. (Now how the hell am I supposed to use my camera without a memory card?!) The memory card CONTINUED to show 'IN STOCK' for the NEXT 7 DAYS, THEN ticked to 'unavailable'. *grumble* Waited almost 1 month, and NOTHING, then went to cancel my order, and after about 5 days (3 business) I had to send an email through their customer support web page, and FINALLY that part of the order was cancelled. Cancelling a 'backordered' item shouldn't take 3 business days.

ISSUES: 100% TOTAL CRAP for customer service. It's really more of 'Customer Blow Off' as it takes 2-3 days to get a response. NO PUBLISHED (on their website) customer support phone number. I was able to find one via a Google-search. These individuals appear to be in India (I say this because of the THICK accent on the person I spoke with)

I've used Buy.com for the past ??? 5 years ?? it seems, and haven't had any problems. I'll not be shopping with them ever again after the terrible Customer Support, and problem with their website showing items as 'In Stock' when they are not.

This appears to be a common theme with the reports here, and goes to show how you can take a good business and flush it down the crapper.

"Ordered a Kodak DX7440 digital camera with next day shipping. The site showed it as "In Stock: Usually Ships in 1 to 2 business days." By 7/26 it was "Sent to Warehouse" and was still "Sent to Warehouse" on 7/27.

I called Buy.com to determine status. Got a guy named "Andy" heard people speaking a dialect from India in the background. CSR told me that they were having a glitch with the web site and that even though the product is still showing up as "in stock" it really isn't. When I asked him what the est. lead time on the backorder is, it seemed that he didn't understand the question...not sure he really speaks english but may be just reading from a script.

One thing that did come out of the conversation is that Buy.com does not sync up stock quantities with orders over the weekend -ever-. So, at minimum, never order from these losers on a weekend. Given that it is Tuesday, and the product is still showing "in stock", I recommend that you don't even bother ordering from them on a weekday.

UPDATE: After placing an order for the camera with Chumbo.com (very nice experience), I learned that Buy.com had actually shipped the camera even though "Andy" had told me that the camera was backordered. Good thing that Chumbo is a much better retailer to do business with as they allowed my to cancel the order with no muss or fuss.

Too bad that Buy.com has completely screwed up its business by outsourcing the CSR function to non-native speaking CSRs who have no authority and apparently even less information than the consumer.

Looking forward to seeing Buy.com on f&ck*dcompany.com next year. These guys have really messed up a good thing.

"I agree with what others have stated. This store is not anything like the one it used to be. Followed their instructions to return an item and tracked it to make sure it was returned and received. Weeks ahave gone buy and no credit for the return. No response to e-mails. Called and was told that the credit would appear within 5 days. (Funny, their web site says 3 days after receipt of product, not weeks and then 5 days after a phone call.) Anyway, still waiting and now I have to go to my credit card company and dispute the charge. This store is not worth the hastle. "

"Used a $15 coupon on a $36 SODIMM memory stick, confirmation e-mail showed $21 as expected but company "cancelled" the coupon, debited my credit card $36 and shipped the item, all without any communication to me whatsoever.

First CSR said "your invoice shows this item can't be returned" but was mute when I replied, "it also shows the $21 I authorized, not the $36 you billed."

Second CSR said, "I'll have the credit department contact you within 8 business hours" but it's now been over a week.

Credit card dispute is pending.

Unresponsive, unethical and untrustworthy. Bye bye, buy.

"This company is unbelieveable. I can't believe that I didn't check their ratings before I ordered from them.

3 years ago, they were top notch. Now, it appears, they are about ready to go belly up.

The item I ordered was listed as being in stock, and their website stated that it should ship in 1 or 2 days. Instead, the order was "Sent to the Warehouse" where it still is 6 days later. When I tried to cancel the order, the only response I received was the "Cancellation Requested" note that I should get an email from them in a couple of days.

When I didn't receive an email response, I emailed them. They don't respond to anything. The only thing they seem to be good at is authorizing your credit card.

I couldn't find a customer service phone number anywhere on their site. A forum I subscribe to had these numbers for buy.com: ***-***-**** or ***-***-**** (7am-7pm M-F and 8-12 Sat, MST)

I'll try them tomorrow.

" buy.com is back to doing its old routine. Offer something that is a good deal, and once a bunch of people order it, the cancel the whole lot 5 days later. There was a time when buy.com had good buys on it. Not so of late. They have developed a reputation that makes buyers wary of dealing with them.

On a slightly positive note, they have taken the advice from some of these messages and offered coupons to those who get burned by their deals. So I am of a divided mind about them, any popular product order gets cancelled, but you get $5 off if you bother buying from them next time.
