"What happened to this company? This company used to be very reliable. I ordered two items that both said (and still say) "In Stock: Usually Ships in 1 to 2 business days." However, one week later, the status still says "Sent to warehouse". Finally, it says "On order" with a cancel option (of which I promptly used). This is rediculous. A whole week wasted to find out they don't even have it.

After reading some of the other comments, this experience may not be over with.

Update: buy.com eventually shipped the items after 3 weeks even though I requested that it be cancelled. I had ordered these items from another vendor and promptly received them two days later. So, I am in the RMA process with this useless company. Never again!

"I have been ordering from buy.com for some time now, but lately it became unpredictable. The initial process for verification and validation went through in half a day and was “send to the warehouse” Next 3 days the system showed in that state indicating that it didn’t ship in 1-2 days as advertised on the Web. I canceled my order on the 4th day. I will update my experience if I run into other challenges."

"Well, I fell into the trap. Buy.com was an excellent on-line retail store but no more. I purchased a Microsoft keyboard and mouse combo from them on 26 July 04. The site stated that it would ship in 1 to 2 days. As of the 2 Aug, the status of shipping on this item has changed from “sent to warehouse” to “on order”. The web site still has it listed to ship in 1 to 2 days. I cancelled, but after what I have read here I figure I will have to send this item back.

Follow Up:
I didn't have to send the order back but it was a major hassel to get the order cancelled. In the end, no charge was made but they did hold the charge amount on my credit card for no reason.

" Ordered two weeks ago, item was in stock. In about a week they sent me a generic email:"Sorry we are still looking for your item. Sorry for inconvinience". Now it has been two weeks and they are "still looking" while item is still "in stock" on their website.
This is second time this year this happens. Last time they sent me a product more than two weks late, and by the time I recieved it not only I no longer needed it ( extra memory before intl. trip ), I could not use 50$ rebate with the deadline on it.

"Ordered product that was supposed to ship 1-2 days. It shipped 7 days later without any notice previous notice of being delayed. Company does not have a phone number either to get in touch. Based on my experience and other reviews, proceed with caution."

"My order arrived seven days after placing it which is good. The packaging was almost overkill. Dealing with a strictly internet/email based company can be most frustrating because they do not have a phone number to talk to a live person should questions arise that you would like to handle immediately.

Thursday -place order
Monday -email from Buy.com saying they are working on it
Tuesday -send email to Buy.com asking if the items are in stock and that I intend to cancel if not
Wednesday -email from Buy.com saying item has shipped
Friday -order arrives via USPS

It only took seven days to get my order so I should be happy, I guess. But, I expect my order to processed in less than 72 hours, if not I go somewhere else. I believe they have met
those standards. My advice, place your order on Monday or Tuesday if you don't want to extend the IN PROCESSING time by two days because of the weekend.

I AGREE

I ordered a product that was supposed to ship in 1-2 business days on July 24th. When product had not yet shipped on the 28th, I entered a cancellation request for both product and the %10 Off coupon that I entered. Order status remained in "cancellation requested"

I got an email 2 days later saying order canceled which there is no way that you can understand your order canceled but not the product the ..ucking Coupon they canceled.

Product was shipped a week later without %10% OFF anyway.

Will never buy from buy.com. They should change their name to DONOTBUY.com. BEWARE..!!!

"Buy.com makes it virtually impossible to cancel an order since they do not provide a phone number and force you to use their website to cancel an order. I ordered a product that was supposed to ship in 1-2 business days on Monday July 19th. When product had not yet shipped on the 21st, I entered a cancellation request. Order status remained in "cancellation requested" for 6 days, after which time the product was shipped anyway. During all this time, the product remained for sale on the website stating a 1-2 business days shipment time.

Buy.com used to be a good company to deal with. I've ordered over $1000 of products from them during the last several years. But if they can't handle a simple order cancellation anymore, I'm done dealing with them.

"I Placed an order on July 23rd 2004 They responded on July 27th that they were still trying to fill my order.
I e-mailed them 4 times with a requrest for a ship date. They never responed. On the morning of the 29th I sent a cancellation request. In the late afternoon of the 29th they e-mailed me that they could not cancel because it was in "fulfillment".
Poor customer service and unresponsive to their e-mails. I will never shop there again. If the order ever comes I will send it back.
The order came late on August 2nd. I originally had ordered two items. With in 30 minutes of ordering the first item I cancelled it. They sent it even though it was cancelled. I had to return it and pay postage. Fedx doesn't requrie a signature and left it on my porch. If they required a signature I would have refused it. The second pakaged I decided to keep. Their response to customer e-mails is totally inadaquite. They do it their way and the heck with what the customer wants or needs. I will never shop their again.

"I think they are heading towards bankrupcy! Just look at my last three orders from them:

1) On April 22, I ordered an MP3 player from them. It showed "in stock" when I placed the order. After 1 month it was still not shipped, and I cancelled the order. Guess what, it showed at my door after I cancelled it for more than 2 months. They actually charged more than the intial order amount!

2)Two weeks ago I placed another order, they sent me another familiar email "we are still looking... you can cancel the order...". OK, I cancelled it. Guess what, it showed at my door yesterday! That's more than one week after the cancellation and 10 days after the intial order.

3)Today, I got another "we are still looking..." email from them for my most recent order. I placed this as an replacement order after I cancelled the last one, since I really need a secure digtial card for my GPS. I go ahead cancelled it, and bet it will show at my door step someday...

This is just horrible. Being a satisfied customer of Buy.com for several years, it is sad to see the direction they are heading towards.

"Follow-up to my Buy.com order posted earlier. I just called Buy.com's India Customer Service Guys. After they told me they had no stock on an item, I cancelled the order. They then found the item and shipped it anyhow. I already got the product from another company (paid more) When Buy.com's came I refused it via USPS per their instructions. They sent it back to where it came from. Buy.com still charged my credit card and told me they would wait to credit me till they got it back. The tracking number showing me refusing the package should be all that was required! How do I know what is in the package, I never got it! Beware of Buy.com. It used to be a great company but not anymore!"

"I ordered a LCD monitor late Friday night, had it shipped second day air, and it arrived on the following Wednesday. Monitor had three dead pixels. The dead pixels are a stochastic event, so I have no complaints."
