After several days, they email'ed me saying they are still looking for it. But based on my experience dealing with buy.com, I felt like it's probably actually in stock, they just don't want to fulfill the GC. So I used another account to order, and it's shipped the next day! How ridiculous! "I've purchased several items from Buy.com over the years with no problems. Something must have changed in the past year. The service and responsiveness is "hit or miss" at best.
Two weeks ago I ordered a motherboard that shipped in two days, and I received it two days after shipment. The email communication was good.
Last week I ordered another item.....heard nothing. After two days I sent them an email to find out if the item was out of stock, and I finally received a response THIS MORNING saying my order was "...sent to the warehouse.....All in-stock items should ship within the next business day".
Well no kidding, since it didn't ship, why do they think I'm asking the question? I know how to check the order status on their website. I told them to cancel the order.....I can imagine what a battle this is going to be.
I had a problem like this only one other time early this year. After several emails with empty answers, I asked for a phone number to call them. Some jerk responded with a number, and informed me that I would be charged for using the support number. What a "pain in the ______"

"I have ordered before from Buy.com with no problems. This is the first time I have ordered from them and had it shipped to an address other than my billing address. I have to praise them on the fact that to confirm the order I had to email them my bank's phone number, but five days after doing this the order is still processing. Like other companies they have outsourced their customer support to India. They claim they have saved 5M a year by doing this. Unfortunately their customer support, as evidenced by the decline in their rating, is virtually nonexistent. Emails to their support department go unanswered. Good luck though since you will be connected to an Indian call center.
I value support before and after the purchase as highly as receiving the right product in a timely manner. If Buy.com does not do something about their poor customer support that 5M in support savings is going to turn into a 10M sales loss."
"First of all, I'd like to state that I really like this vendor. Typically, they offer low prices, or at least very competitive prices and, at times, their prices are unbeatable.
HOWEVER, lately, it appears as if getting an order filled is nothing other than a crapshoot and their communication is becoming increasingly inadequate.
One example: I placed an order on Thursday, 7/8 for items showing as "in stock". I got a confirmation e-mail the next day and, hence, figured the order would ship Monday or Tuesday, 7/12 or 7/13. Well, not exactly. Instead I received some cryptic e-mail to the effect that they were "still looking for the items I ordered". I had no idea what that meant, exactly, but was absolutely convinced that my order wasn't going to ship anytime soon. I cancelled because I've been through this before; I had ordered a couple of trackballs and waited weeks before I also cancelled that order.
Second example: I placed an order that included 3 items. For some inexplicable reason, they shipped two of the items FedEx ground and the third item USPS. I received the 2 items shipped via FedEx ground in just a couple of days but it took an eternity for the item shipped USPS to arrive. I have no clue as to why they couldn't simply pack the item shipped USPS in one of the FedEx boxes.
Having said that, I'll probably order from them in the future BUT, I will make absolutely sure my order will NOT be shipped via USPS. Further, they usually send order confirmations via e-mail within 24 hours. However, if I don't receive a shipment confirmation via e-mail within a couple of days, that will raise a BIG, RED FLAG. I'll immediately cancel in that event since the likelihood of receiving the order within a reasonable time is virtually nil.

"Very bad return experience. I ordered a camcorder on 06/20/04 and one week later I decided to return it. But I found buy.com just put a special policy there said I ccan't return this item. "I had a very poor experience from BUY.COM nearly a year and a half ago, but have since placed some smaller orders which have come through fine, although packages are often damaged.
My latest experience, however, was horrible.
I ordered two products, which were shipped separately. That's not a problem, and it was expected. However, one item was claimed to have shipped on January 14, yet stickers buy.com put on the envelope had January 17 on it. The item didn't arrive until January 26. This could be understood if, say, it was coming across the country, but the shipping center is local to me. Mail should generally take 1 or 2 days. When the item finally arrived, it was the wrong item.
The other item arrived promptly. It was a refurbished, "like new" wireless keyboard and mouse combo item. The mouse was scratched. The keyboard didn't work at all. The box was heavily damaged. The item also didn't include batteries, which the retail version does. By the time I purchased the batteries, the price was the same as a new product.
Now I'm sitting here waiting for a credit. It's been over a week since the item was returned and their status system says it has not been received. I'll probably have to contact the credit card company on this order."

I have repeatedly email customer service and only received form letter responses saying "sorry we can't cancel your order" Before this experience I had been a happy customer for several years.
