"No customer support. Pay them and cross your fingers or dispute the charges, those are your choices.
I ordered a product with their free budget shipping. Shipping and Handling 14-21 days. Emailed them 4 times, waited 3 weeks after my first email. 40 days after placing order I recieved my first reply, a cancelation email. Sorry but the manufacturer didn't have anymore. Uh, shouldn't that have been reflected on their website when I made the purchuse 40 days ago.
Buy.com is a waste of time and resources."
"Wooo~~~Very fast shipment. Order the item on the 17th and receive the item on 21th. I can even track my shipping ststus form their website. And the price on their side is execilent!!! I would definately buy from they again. And buy the way, I live at Dallas area."
"More than 2 years and 15 purchases from Buy.com. Good prices, never an error on an order. Very broad selection (large format Epson Papers, Buffy videos etc.). Nice online account summaries with ability to pull up old invoices."
"In April, 2003 I placed an order which arrived without problem. However, I also opted to get a $10 discount on my next purchase. I checked a box which stated I would. In June I began to receive a $7 per month charge on my billing from a company named "Reservationrewards." They stated it came from me checking that box for the $10 discount on my next purchase. Buy.com gave them my "confidential" credit card #!!! I did not give Buy.com a release to do this. Buyer beware."
"I placed an order for a: WIRELESS NETWORK KIT: Netgear MR814 Router + MA401 PC Card. This is the description from my order. Three days later, I received the MR814 router. I used their web page to submit a short order, requesting that the MA401 PC Card be sent. Five days later, I received three emails. One indicating my claim had been denied. The second an auto reply saying how to return an item, the third contained a link to print a return UPS label. I emailed back asking why they don't send me the missing item. After several more exchanges, I finally received an email saying they would not honor my order. I would need to return the router. So I did this. They received my return on 4-10. As of today, 4-16 I had not received a credit. I emailed back, and they replied via someone else's email. Attached to the email I received was an inquiry from a Mrs Chambers. Do not do business with this company. They have no customer service. They used to. I've ordered $3K plus of products from them in the past two years. No more. They've lost me as a customer. I'm moving to newegg.com. "
"One of the best online vendors I have ever purchased from. I got exactly what I chose FREE shipping, ordered it at like midnight and it came LATER THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (i do live a couple hours away though). A very good experience and I will continue to buy from them."
"GREAT SELLER!!!
got shipped from the warehouse very quickly, and got to my house in an AWESOME time! Don't hesitate to buy from these guys, everything worked out GREAT!!!
"
"Ordered a D-Link 802.11b Router (DI-614+) and a D-Link 802.11b Wireless PCMIA card (DWL-650+) on March 25 @ 11PM. Items were $20 cheaper than other sites I checked out. Received buy.com's free "value" shipping. Item shipped the next day and was at my door on the 27th. Would definitely buy from them again!"
"I purchased a fairly small yet hard to find item. I placed the order and waited. several days later, I get an email saying " we're still working on shipping your product. be patient".
So I tried to cancel the order, and was greeted with a message saying I would receive an email within 1 business day to let me know if it was able to be cancelled.
3 more days pass without a word. The website still shows my order "sent to warehouse". So I try to do the normal thing and call customer service. NOPE! If I actually want to talk to someone in customer service, I will have to pay $9 for the privilege. Yes, pay for customer service.... not support, customer service. OUTRAGEOUS!!!
So I email customer service to see what is going on. they reply a day later saying that they couldnt cancel it and it would ship, but I could refuse the shipment, etc.
several days later, there is a knock on my door. Its the Airborne Express guy. He hands me my package and its my buy.com order. Amazing. the buy.com website still doesnt show it being shipped.
Literally 4 hours later, I get an email from buy.com "we shipped your order!" As of this writing, there is still no tracking info available on the order, even though it has been delivered via ground service almost across the entire country.
NEVER AGAIN!"
"I bought a 256MB Viking CF card. Ordering was easy. It came with free shipping and arrived sooner than I was told it would. It even had a $20 rebate so it was a good deal. Have bought from them in the past and will continue to do so in the future."
"Because of the incredibly poor service I have recieved from buy.com I will never buy from them again.
On monday March 17,2003 at 4am I ordered a viewsonic VX2000 monitor from them for the price of 1328.99.
In the process of checking out, it popped up Add this free camera for purchasing over 150 dollars. Ok I didn't really care a bit about the camera and was resisted adding it, but for some reason it didn't seem to want to advance in the checkout options, so I figured ok i'll add it, after all its free. It turned out to be the checkout process was being picky about something else. I can't remember what at any rate, I figured.. Well the camera is free, so oh well.
It did not get shipped till late tuesday, even though same day shipping should have been easy with a 4am order that was in stock. I had allready noted that according to their policy they would match amazon.com's price of 1287.11 price. That pricematch request was issued right after the order.
On March 20th I received a reply to my earlier message that if the "free" camera was any kind of issue with the pricematch to cancel it. I had probably sent that message with their online system the 19th.
On the 25th, after still having failed to hear anything about my pricematch, I called again and demanded to speak to someone and not their $9.95 per call helpline(another ridiculous thing). By that time I was more than fed up with trying to resolving the problem via email which was the only free option. I finally got ahold of someone who claimed that the pricematch was declined because of the camera which 1) I had requested to cancel on the 19th 2) Had never shipped. So my pricematch was refused because of a toy camera that was supposed to be free, and I never got anyway.. Any excuse will do for these bozos I guess.
Today, March 25, there was a 1378.77 charge on my credit card for the monitor.. Thats perfectly normal. There was in addition to that a 1378.77 authorisation and a 39.35(camera?) authorisation on my card that that person refused to even admit was a problem Heaven forbid I want to buy something else until it auto expires in a few more days.
This person even refused to let my talk to his boss. Needless to say by this time I was quite angry at talking to someone who could have as easily been replaced with a computer. He hung up on me after I commented on his incompetance in great detail.
I called back and got ahold of a lady who seemed to at least be trying. She agreed to cancel the camera and take care of it. A few hours later I receieved an email.. Oops, my gosh, we couldn't cancel the camera, it suddenly shipped. Convienient eh? Well since the "free" camera was "valued" at $30.00 we will return the remaining $11.88. Gracious of them eh?
Needless to say I will never buy from buy.com again, and I would encourage everyone else to think twice before doing so.
Oh if your curious, the only reason I bought from there in the first place is they had a returns policy that seemed pretty reasonable. I wanted to make sure after buying a ~$1300 monitor that if I didn't like it I could return it.. I'm just glad there were no problems with the monitor.. Heaven forbid what a nightmare that would have been.."
"Easy company to deal with. I ordered a Linx USB Plus program on March 23rd and received it on March 25th. Retail price was $69 to $79, depending on where you purchase it. Buy.com had it for $53.99, no tax or S&H, plus there was a $20 rebate. "
"I had been happy with orders from buy.com until I had to make a return of 3 items. They've only credited my with one of the three items. They lost the other two and are now claiming that I never sent them. I've tried emailing and talking to them to work out a resolution but they are unwilling to help. If you must shop with them make sure you only return one item at a time. Better yet shop somewhere else in the first place."
"Buy.Com used to be my sole source for almost any computer or electronics item I purchased for either myself or my clients. Their prices and value USED to be the best. Their customer service was excellent too. That was then. Now, their prices are not so competitive, their shipping is ridiculously overpriced, and they now charge for customer service and tech support. I buy from this vendor rarely now and only on a last-resort basis. They have lost another loyal customer."
"Great price - 128MB USB flash drive for $40 delivered.
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10339137&hdwt=30451&loc=101
Friendly packaging. No packing peanuts, just crumpled brown paper. Down with the packing peanut!"
