"I purchase stuff from them occasionally and this time around I bought close to $300 worth of stuff including an external HD and CD burner. Right out of the box neither worked, so I got worried because I rarely have to deal with getting RMA's and returning products. Luckily they had all of the RMA process online and even had the ability to print the UPS return labels for the returns. So I requested the RMA, printed out the labels and sent off the products and within 2 weeks I was given a full refund on both products. So I don't have any complaints except for the fact that the products were defective. I might buy from them again given the easy return process."

"Buy.com made me really mad a couple of years ago when they overcharged me for a purchase and then wouldn't let me speak to a real human being to correct the problem unless I gave them a credit card number over the phone and paid 15 dollars (for their overcharge mistake!).
Well I figured they have to be better as its been a couple years and I'd assume this company has an interest in staying in business, thus would have improved their policies. WRONG.
I ordered a pair of SATA cables from them - just a cheap 13 dollar purchase, so I figured I couldn't go too wrong. But I needed the cables within about 10 days. Still, no big rush. 10 days is a long time.
Well buy.com shipped them out in a timely fashion, but put the WRONG address on it. An address across town that I have never EVER in my life heard of. I saw the delivery confirmation on the USPS website but it was to the entirely wrong address so I was pretty frustrated. Checked and nope, still no customer service phone number. Only email, which last time I emailed them their "10 hour response time" turned out to be completely untrue, but I figured it was my only chance. Well again... I don't see how, but 10 hours turned into 80 hours until I finally heard back from them.
Let me elaborate that in this email I sent them:
*I told them I had not received the item because it was delivered to the wrong address which was confirmed on their own website and USPS.com
*I told them I wanted them to send me another two cables out to me ASAP or have the old ones rerouted to me if possible becase I needed them in 3 days.
-First email response I receive from them is some BS form letter telling me that the listed 10-14 day shipping time has not been exceeded so please wait until then to make sure. Well I emailed them back telling them AGAIN, per my first email, I AM sure because their own website claims the package has long since been delivered and to the wrong address.
-Next email I get comes in a more timely fashion to the tune of 24 hours... still not 10 at all. And it's another BS form letter... asks me if I would a refund or the items resent. AGAIN, I tell them as per my FIRST email I want another set sent out overnight because at this point my customer is already past the point of being promised their new drive would be setup and it's making me look bad.
I have yet to receive the cables or any response to my last email, but the point is that
*not only is buy.com so poorly customer service oriented that they don't give out their phone number, but I have yet to ever sent them an email that they answered within their advertised 10 hour response time, and even then they don't read your entire email - they just skim it and send out a generic formletter response that asks questions you've already answered*.

"DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. I am a frequent online buyer and I have never had more difficulty. This company practices bait-and-switch and provides deceptive advertising and information. I ordered a product that was indicated as in stock when it was actually backordered. Of course they waited to tell me until a week later and then their email didn't admit that it was backordered with no estimated delivery date. I had to navigate through their BS phone line that tells you you have to pay to find out about your own order/$. I was able to get my order's actual status by connecting to their sales line. I also got a customer service number, but that number has a system that hangs up on you after several minutes. I recontacted the sales department and requested that they arrange for a customer service rep to call me which they agreed to do, but never actually did of course. I am now filing a complaint with the BBB and I have cancelled my order. "

"I ordered an MP3 player for my girlfriend two weeks before Christmas. Upon recieving my order I noticed a smart media card was missing. I went to the site and checked my account to see if something was shipping seperately. Nothing was listed so I had to open up a claim. I recieved an email back stating someone would contact me within the next 15 business days. Why would it take so long was my first question. However the next day I did recieve another email stating that my smartmedia card and the MP3 player I ordered had shipped seperately and that the card was on back order and would ship within two weeks. I thought this was ridiculous especially since it is still in stock on their website. Well it's been over two weeks and no card yet. Also my order on their website says complete and that my claim was denied. I will never order from this place again. After this happened I checked the reviews on this site and was astonished to find out that they charge you to call them with order questions. Buy.com needs to step into this century and realize when you order somthing online and it says it's in stock it should be deliverd as promised. I'm sorry I strayed from my favorite site Newegg.com I will never do that again.
Update
After posting this message I recieved and email stating my smart media card was in and set to ship that was 1/08/03. They also said I would be notified when it shipped. I recieved another email on 1/11/03 stating they were still working on shipping it. Wow three days and they are still working on it what prompt service especially since it was ordered on 12/13/02. I am really dissapointed in this whole experience. Anyway today 1/14/03 I was sitting at my desk at work and the delivery guy walked in with a package for me. Wow only one month from the time I ordered it good thing it was in stock when I ordered it or it would have taken two months. As I stated before I will never order from this place again. Oh yeah I'm also glad that they let me know it shipped. I guess they forgot. Whatever."
"People seem to have bad things to say about buy.com, but I never have had problems. I also had another order #, so that made a total of two separate orders split into 3 packages, and everything arrived on time, no problems.

"Printer errors with Samsung ML1450 began just after 3 weeks of beginning use of the printer. However, since transit time was 10 days this exceeded the new '30day' return policy and no return options provided. Very ARROGANT, CONDESCENDING support staff offered nothing in the way of sympathy, despite a nearly 3 year history of over 40 separate purchases totalling over $5,000 dollars --- nothing but loyalty on my part with buy.com. In the past, this company bent over backward with excellent product support. Now customers are just a number and a hassle. Worst part is you must pay $9.95 for technical support with any product issues! Total BS. Even when I told them I was thinking of leaving them as a customer they said "ok goodbye" --- after acknowledging my long loyalty! Puzzling how such behavior will allow them to stay in business for any length of time. I'm selling my stock in this company IMMEDIATELY. I've heard good things about newegg.com."

It was delivered to my door before 3 p.m. the next day in spite of the fact that I had chosen the slower UPS ground option (free shipping). I have used this company many times. The selection is outstanding and prices are generally the lowest available. Great company!"
"I purchased 3 relatives' Christmas presents from Buy.com and one of them has wishlist with Buy.com. When I opened my account, I entered my shipping address but somehow all 5 items (3 are not on the wishlist) got shipped to the person whom has wishlist with Buy.com without alerting me. The worst part is I won't see that person still Dec. 28, so it totally messed up my gift-giving schedule.
When I found out this, the items are shipped already. I sent Buy.com 5 messages to complain how they can assume items I selected are all shipped to the wishlist account. I told them to check their computer system flaw in making wrong assoications. All of their responses are "You could have gone in your account and change the Shipping Address.". But the fact is their computer system sucks. It should not assume where the items are shipped. Their customer service sucks too by providing unhelpful answers. I found out it will cost $9.95 to talk to a live person (I wasn't going to give them a dime more after this experience). My borther-in-law said he had the same problem with Buy.com. The presents he bought for his wife are shipped to his wife's attention,whom had wishlist in Buy.com instead of his office address he speicfied. She of course opened them last week when the package was shipped to her. I will not recommend anyone to do business with them even though the price seems to be better for some items. Buy.com really ruined my Christmas gift-giving schedule. "

"I have been dealing with buy.com for a while. Their status update on shipment been very poor but they improved it. Recently I was disappointed with their purchase status and technical support. They failed to provide me with the necessary information and instead the status was misleading causing me to place double order. Buy.com refused to fix this issue I was penalized with shipping fees and inconvenience. Despite my long term relation with them but they refused to honor my request to fix this issue.
