False advertising and if you put a promo code in, make sure its still applied after you check out because somehow, mine was applied when checking out but when emailed my receipt it was no longer applied. And now they are telling me they don't honor them. WTF! I thought I was paying $28 and was charged $34. Don't ever use them for your costumes."
"I purchased a Star Wars costume for my daughter for Halloween. I paid extra for the shipping so it would be on time for a fall fest she was going to. It was late - she didn't have the costume in time. When it did arrive it was damaged. I returned the costume back in October. They received it on November 5th, 2018. Two weeks later I emailed asking when I could expect my return. I got an email back on November 23 saying the refund, which was for less than I paid mind you, would be issued in 7-14 business days. I have yet to receive this refund, and it is nearly a month later. I'm out the $58.99 plus the money I paid in shipping. Don't buy from this company!!"
"In Sept. I purchased a costume for Halloween. I had no problems with the transaction or shipping. I received the outfit, pulled it out the package and found it was too big when I tried it on. About a week later, I ordered another one the next size down. Got that one and it fit right. I proceeded to return the first costume with in the 30 day return policy as stated on the website. About a week later, I received an e-mail that my return was received and that my refund was being processed. A little over a month later I realized I never saw my refund or had any other communication from buycostumes.com. I e-mailed the company after siting on hold for customer service for 30 mins. The next morning I had not received a response to my e-mail so I tried calling again. The guy I spoke with said he would dig into the situation and call me back. He called back and left me a message stating he had more information about my refund. Before I called him back I found a response to my e-mail stating I was not going to get a refund because there was hair on my outfit and it was deemed damaged. All I did was take it out of the package, try it on, and put it right back in the package. I had noticed it had some seams coming undone when I tried it on. I call to speak with customer service again and spoke with the supervisor that was e-mailing me. I told her that I either need my refund or my product returned to me. She told me that she would dig into it and would get back to me either that day or the next. It has been several days and I have not heard anything. I finally got a hold of them and they are still refusing to issue my refund and supposedly they threw away my items without even asking me if I would like it back. No communication was ever made to me about the fact I would not be getting a refund. So a long story short, I have not product that I paid for and no refund, so they have stolen $49 from me. What crooks."
"Buy costumes.com doesn't deserve any stars. I ordered my 12 year old daughter a Queen of hearts & shoes to match costume on Oct 19 2015. With a guarantee date of Oct 26 2015. I tried contacting them to no avail. Then I receive email on Oct 28 2015 stating that queen of hearts costume wasn't available. Then to top it off shoes weren't shipped out until Oct 29 2015. I will Never Ever again order anything from them"

They continually promised product that they didn't have and they never delivered the product when they said that they would. Tried to call this morning, couldn't get through - ridiculous wait time on hold. Managed to get hold of someone on chat who said will ship today (was then cut off). Got hold of someone else who said they couldn't guarantee costume would be delivered before Halloween. Absolutely useless. Cancelled the order and bought with Amazon which WILL arrive tomorrow. "
"I was skeptical after reading reviews, but I had already made a purchase so decided to wait and see. I ordered two weeks before Halloween. Found two costumes i wanted on sale for 9.99, so i grabbed them while i could and paid a little extra to make sure they would be here by the 27th. My package arrived the 26th and had everything I ordered with no problems. I rated 5 stars because it arrived a day early and I was happy with it. However, with so many bad reviews I won't likely use this website in the future."
"I placed order for 2 costumes for my sons in September and was guaranteed delivery by Oct. 13. By October 18, it was not delivered. I called costumer service and was told that I would have them by Friday October 23 because we need it for a school project Monday October 26. I have been trying to reach them but have not been successful. Fortunately, my credit card company refunded me for the charge. I still don't have the costumes and now have this weekend to find the 2 that I need :(. I am so disappointed and have never had to deal with something like this when ordering online. If you are ordering costumes, try Amazon or any other sites instead of Buycostumes."
"I wish I didn't even have to give a star. I placed my order on October 20th, paid for express shipping to have it delivered on October 23rd. I got my order but the main item, the leotard, was not in the package. I called to complain and ask for the refund since I now have to go and find the leotard somewhere else. The customer service gal informed me that they are only refunding the leotard and half of the express shipping. What POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE you have!!! Please take the miserable $7 you're refunding for your aggravating mistake, that's not how you're supposed to fix your mistake. I now have to go and rush to get the missing item elsewhere for tomorrow. To make matters worse, she said they're refunding my money in TWO WEEKS!! I work in the customer service industry and can't believe there are companies like yours out there! "
"Unreliable! They cancelled my order! I ordered 2 black light spotlights on October 12th with guaranteed delivery by the 20th. By October 20th, the shipping info showed that they were still processing the order. So I called to inquire. An automated message stated that orders placed before the 16th were "guaranteed" to arrive by the 23rd. I don't think they know what that word means. After holding for 17 minutes, the rep finally answered and said they would get to it ASAP. Well today is the 23rd and they just emailed me that my order has been cancelled. Wtf?!? Most unreliable company ever. I wonder if they'll survive this debacle. I hope not. I've learned my lesson. I will never shop here again. "
"Wish I had read these reviews before ordering. I placed an order on 10/18, for guaranteed delivery on 10/23. Received email on 10/23 with tracking info to UPS. My order would be delivered on 10/26. Waited on hold at least 25 minutes, via multiple calls. When choosing the option to have someone call me back to save my place in line, was disconnected. Attempted live chat, to be on cyber-hold 10 minutes. "Ray" told me exactly what my email stated. Then suggested I contact UPS. Being the costume left their warehouse on 10/22, it wasn't a UPS issue. They offered to refund my shipping. Luckily I paid thru PayPal, and screenshot the entire conversation, so I can open a PayPal dispute, if not refunded. Order elsewhere, even if the costume is more $, it's not worth it. Hopefully ppl will start reading reviews before ordering."

No one knows what they are doing, can"t give you a straight answer and they offer you adjustments that they have already offered in previous calls that should've been handled already. I placed an order on the 9th with a guarentee arrival date of the 16th and that has come and gone. I am now being told the items are out of stock when they were in stock on the date my order was placed. My children had their hearts set on these costumes and now I have to wait for a full refund since I spent over 150 and run around trying to find decent costumes last minute. They've ruiened Halloween this year for my kids and I plan on contacting the BBB about their false advertisements and misleading practices. You are a costume site you should have better practices this time of the year since it's your bussiest time!!! "
