"I have purchased a cool looking digital camcorder from Geeks for $50 to give my son a surprise gift for his school trip to Florida. Free shipping option from Geeks for that order, which I made on Wednesday morning turned out to be scheduled for deliver Tuesday next week, which was slow, but still acceptable as I still had 1 day before my son's departure. For the first 3 days Fedex package tracking said that Geeks still has it. I had to call Geeks, they told me that tracking info will eventually show up when package gets to Memphis, NT. That was weird, Newegg never does that to me, but I gave Geeks some slack since it was a good deal. But when I received the package and I was about to present it to my son, I discovered that Geeks had sent me a different product, an outdated old digital camera. I asked my 12 year old if he was even remotely interested in it, he was not. I then showed him the pictures of what was supposed to be in the package. He said that it looked very cool and that he was sad he didn’t get to show off with a cool looking camcorder on his first big trip without a family. I immediately called Geeks. No toll-free numbers for them by the way and 4 different confusing numbers to call in California. A lady picked up the phone. Her speech sounded slurred as if she was under the influence of alcohol or some strong medicine. Rep didn’t give me her name or rep ID. She admitted the order problem, spent about 20 minutes with me on the phone and said that I would definitely have the proper camcorder by Friday. Lady told me to expect order information on the replacement order in my email. She also told me to expect a prepaid shipping label sent to my email to so that I could ship defective camera back. That sounded fine to me with the exception of the support person being very chatty and having a slurred speech. I then waited two more days, but no emails came in. I asked my wife to give Geeks another call since I was at work and Geeks phones are only answered until 4-5pm daily. She called them and found out that nothing has been done. So she had to waste another 15 minutes with them. This time she talked to a young male voice, who did not give his name or rep ID. This time he said that since order was made via Paypal, Geeks will not ship us the proper camera until they receive back the junk they sent us. By the way, street value of the camera they actually sent us is about $30, so they’re probably digging a hole in company’s owner’s pockets by spending money on shipping wrong camera back. After this phone call we realized that we won’t have a gift for our kid even when he returns from the trip on Sunday. Since I have shopped with Geeks many times in the last 6-7 years, I decided to give them another call. I probably talked to the same person my wife talked. But again, no rep ID or name was given to me. When I explained the problem, man on the phone refused to do anything to keep me happy or to keep me as their customer, period. When I told him that I shopped with them for many years and that he can check my customer records to prove that, he replied that “even if I made them a million bucks” he still won’t cross-ship because they don’t have my credit card on file. I told them that seeing how they manage my order doesn’t make me feel safe about giving them my card number. He said that if I want to complain, that “makes his life even easier” and sent me to what he presented as manager’s voicemail. I have left a voicemail, but nobody called me back. Rep wasn’t polite, called me “man” several times and generally didn’t care about the fact that it was Geeks who screwed things up in the first place.
GEEKS – WAKE UP!!! There are not too many people still buying stuff out there in this economy! And I can tell that this DOES affect your company because you run sale after sale. Why do you treat your customer so badly? Why would you make a comment on the phone that “You don’t care if I made a million bucks for Geeks” when we’re talking about a cross-ship for a $50 dollar purchase? A little bit about me: I make most of my non-food purchases online and usually spend several thousand dollars online every month for my personal and business needs. I don’t know how this one will end and frankly I don’t care. But I won’t be shopping with Geeks.com again.
Update from May 12: After about 3 weeks since the purchase and 5 more phone calls I finally have my $49.99 back in bank account. That's ~3 hours of my life I'll never get back and some new gray hair on my head. I still won't EVER buy from Geeks again and I purchased camera I needed from other guys. But if you got screwed - call this Kris guy directly, he posts responses here. Chances are you will at least get your money back.

"I purchased an Enhance PSU just like many of the people posting recent reviews. I have also experienced what I would call one of the worst packaging jobs in a long time. The power supply was put in a box much large than it and there were two completed deflated air pillows inside. In my case, there was no packing left once the air pillows popped. The power supply had scratches and was dented on more than one side. I attempted to power it on, but was left with a large paperweight instead. I sent geeks.com an email about this and they never responded. I will just choose to take my business elsewhere in the future."

"Ordered two ATX power supplies (PSU) from geeks.com. They arrived timely, but packaged completely wrong. The bare PSU were put into a large box, and a few air pillows thrown in for good measure.
As a result, one of the PSU is severely warped and banged up. I'm afraid of even powering that thing up. It won't fit into the PSU cage of my Antec P180B because of the warped edges.

I contacted geeks.com twice via their web site and asked about how this could be rectified. I left contact information including email and phone number. It is now 3 days in and nobody has bothered to contact me at all, even though the site states that I should expect some sort of feedback within 24 hours.

I can appreciate their assortment of geek products. However, when I have to pay $13 shipping for two PSU, I expect proper packaging.
I also expect for my emails not to be ignored. I was polite and simply asking for possible avenues to reconcile the problem.

Update 5/1/09: I was contacted, coincidentally right after leaving this review. I was offered a full refund for one PSU and shipping, and a free return shipping label. I consider that a very generous offer on a small budget purchase and will change my feedback rating accordingly.

In the end, two gripes:
(1) very poor packaging which damaged the product
(2) it took them 5 days and a posting on resellerratings.com to get back to me

"Ordered an Enhance PSU, great price on their clearance, but shipping left much to be desired. While they shipped quickly, the packing job was horrible. The power supply was wrapped in a plastic bag, with a couple air pillows tossed in the oversized box, allowing the unit to bounce around in the box.

Thankfully the power supply arrived ok, but when I pay $12 for shipping I fully expect it to be packed properly. The bad packing job will make me think twice about ordering from Geeks again, especially more fragile items.

"Ordered 4 pcs of Enhance 500W power supplies, order was placed on 4/18/2009, but the package wasnt picked up till the 23rd. Packing was worst, all my power supplies was banged up, scratches on all. basically geeks.com dont put minimal padding which not sufficient for my order (a layer of air pillows) for all 4 my power supply. bottom line slow shipping and awfully bad packing technique. "ordered an oem enhance psu which was horribly packed. it basically shipped in a large box with a couple of half deflated air bags. i plugged it into a working system and it didn't work. i emailed customer service, and MichaelK stated that it was a hardware error on my side and told me to have a nice day. i replied that they could either be more helpful or expect a chargeback. they didn't bother replying, but sent me a cheap replacement psu that weighs like 1.5 pounds and has only one sata connector."

"Ordered a couple of reburb Logitech G15s (v2) because the deal was "hot". Ordered on 4/23 and Geeks shipped the items on the same day and I received on 4/25 via Fedex. Shipping was extremely fast and arrived in time for my cousin's B-day! The packaging was very good with lots of airbags that protected the G15s. The G15s were kinda "good" given that they are reburbs and YMMV given that not all reburbs are the same. This 1st experience shopping @ Geeks has been great and I look forward to future purchases @ Geeks. "

"Ordered two (2) Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W PSU's.
Very good deal on the PSU, shipping wasn't too expensive ($12 shipped for both).
My complaint (& several others i've read have the same complaint) is the poor packaging. The PSU's themselves were wrapped in an extremely thin foam, then with bubble wrap. They were then put in a cardboard box that looked like it could hold 10 or more. The only packaging material was an air pillow on top...nothing on the bottom.
I have yet to test them, but the box was pretty banged up.
Definitely disappointed with the packaging!
