"i ordered one of the xps models when they first came out. The hard drive failed the second month and Dell had a new one to me the next day day and a tech over the day after to install it. Last year I ordered one of the newer xps models and could not get it to work with our home network. Tech support found it was not really a Dell problem but a windows problem. They took it back and refunded the price less shipping anyway. If you can afford one of their higher priced models I recommend it. Their lower priced models are a what you get is what you pay for thing. Btw they early xps 400 model still is running strong. "
"I purchased a Dell Ultrasharp 2410 Monitor from Dell Direct. I received a confirmation, they charged my credit card and shipped the monitor. On the day of delivery, they cancelled the order and it was returned to Dell. I called Dell, and the runaround I was given was simply amazing. I had to contact customer support, they gave me a phone number to validation, who told me I needed to reorder, then they put my account on hold and nobody could help me. I repeatedly tried to get information and was unable to speak to anybody who knew anything. Finally the Tuesday after the order was cancelled I received a phone call from Dell about the order. They were astonished when I told them I was cancelling the order and wanted my money back. In the course of 5 days I went from respect for Dell to complete disdain.
I will never again recommend Dell to a friend or enemy. The customer service is completely bad and not worth the trouble. Buy from anybody else but them."
"Never purchase Dell laptops. They suck. I have evaluated all there products like servers, workstations etc. Rest are somewhat decent but definitely not the laptops. "
"BUYER BEWARE!!! I ordered a Nikkor 55-200mm VR lens as a Christmas gift and received confirmation from dell thereafter. Today they sent me a cancellation stating that there was a pricing error. They will not honor the price and have repeatedly told me that they can cancel any order at their discretion. False advertisement and lack of professionalism at its finest. Also, it's sad when you can not speak to an American at an American company while calling from AMERICA!!!!!"
"Absolutely awful experience with Dell.. ordered a Nikon lens for a holiday present and the order was cancelled without any type of notice. This is probably the second or third time this has happened..
Should have known better than to trust Dell... again.
Fooled me once.. "
"This company has inferior products that do not last. In the past I purchased all of my products from dell. However, I have given up on their slow shipping, empty promises, poor customer service and deceitful loan service. My last dell broke soon after warranty and this his product has had issues with the power cord and now the mother board. Please do not buy dell computers. They have poor products and customers service. "
"Be aware of Dell customer service as Dell Corporation in general! They’re a bunch of liars and professional crooks who will NOT hesitate to lie to you for the own good benefit.
I purchased a Laptop and an Inspiron One 2320 Touch UMA worth about 22 hundred, to my surprise when I received the order I found that there was an extra box with another computer and an invoice for over 1K, I immediately called Dell customer service to ask for a return number to have the extra item back, after getting bounced around selecting options on their answering system I simply couldn’t get a live person on the phone.
I ended up going online to email customer support, got an auto reply stating that someone was going to contact me within 24, when I received the answer was only to inform me that they don’t accept returns.
I asked to speak to a manager only to basically get the same answer, supposedly if you don’t respond within minutes to the email they send you confirming or denying the order, that’s enough reason for them to assume the order is approved and you’re stocked with whatever they ship you.
Stay away from this company!!! Is NOT worth the headaches you bring to yourself, especially when there are so many other good brands.

"Dells customer service are nothing but liars and con artists!!!!"
"Dell Computer is full of controversy. You've got to check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tk88k6OaGhA

"The SD card reader on my Dell XPS8000 quit working. I chatted with one R. Villegas relative to a replacement drive. After I gave Villegas the service tag number of my computer, he unequivocally told me the replacement part number and entered my order. Dell shipped a $30 requiring a signature, which greatly inconvenience me since I was working. But the part I received was the wrong part--no way could it have been correct. I would not even begin to fit into my XPS8000. So, I start trying to get the correct part. To make a long story short, I ended up feeling like I was on a different planet. I think the responder was from Bumfuque, India, or some place. To hell with Dell--I'll never own another Dell computer. They're incompetent--and don't care, obviously."
"***DO NOT BUY FROM DELL ONLINE*** 7 HOURS ON PHONE AND EMPTY HANDED!!! PLEASE READ!!!
Ordered a laptop through Dell.com. Wanted an upgraded 9-cell battery but the site was only letting me purchase an additional battery separately. Called them instead and they said I can upgrade for $40 but first I have to buy online then call and upgrade....Here's where it starts...
My 7 hours went something like this: The Sales dept xfers me to Online Sales, who xfers me to Customer Service, who xfers me to modifications dept, who xfers me to back to one of the other departments. This went on for about 6 hours until I decided to cancel my order. Oooh, it just went into production an hour ago and now they won't let me! Then I was going to put a stop payment through my bank, but that takes 7 days. It's Black
Friday though and any potential deal will be over by then. Soo, back to Dell. I was transferred a total of no less than 50 TIMES! Mind you, their entire support system is outsourced, so there are many communication barriers and misunderstandings.
Finally I spoke with someone who said that they could upgrade, but I'll have to cancel my order and do a new order which will lock my funds from the 1st order for 2 business days. I don't have the funds to cover that.
After speaking to 3 supervisors and a manager, pleading with them to just swap it out and charge me the $40, they said that I was misinformed and that a battery upgrade is not an option and I must purchase it separately for $195... WHAT!? SEVEN HOURS to tell me this!? I told them that as a matter of principal, inconvenience, and customer service, I feel they should honor the $40 price and swap the batteries out. They vehemently refused to honor that or any other type of compensation whatsoever.
Dell's support network is excessively bloated, unbending, and nothing but a massive headache. Be warned: Steer far, far away from them. As a matter of principle, I will NEVER purchase another Dell product. Buy from a local store such as Best Buy or something, where you can have an actual customer experience..."
"OMG! dell are the pits avoid at all costs from buying from them.
i spent $5500 on a new alienware desktop its just gone out of warranty and they are offering me almost no support i explained that the desktop has just burnt out the i7 980 chip smells of burning and they simply wont help me? i am a gamer and i paid the extra $800 to get the best liquid cooling system available & its failed so i am left with a $5500 system thats dead well thank you dell i will now make a complaint and i will never use them again.
i had been dealing with them for 3 weeks and only had two emails in all this time ive had one call returned ive got the box still and all the relevant paperwork i paid with my debit card and i wish i never had done.
if the option to give them zero stars was available i would do so i have to stick with the one star and even thats been generous damn you dell."
"The customer service at Dell is awful. I have been on hold and transferred 8 times over the past 2 hours. They are very difficult to understand and have troubles effectively communicating. I am covered under a 4 year warranty and they are unable to fix my problem. I will never again purchase from this company."
"I have purchased 8 computers over the years from Dell, mostly desktops. Compared to the PCs you buy in chain stores, Dell has some superior deals on newer technology, and really outstanding service, even after the warranty expires. Their warranty service is courteous and outstanding. For those times you need or want to fix things yourself, they have online tools and forums that pretty much always get you the help you need.
My advice in buying from Dell is not to just configure a system and add to cart. The prices can fluctuate quite a bit. Wait for a coupon (they publish them on Facebook, Twitter, and emails), shop their outlet store (lots of very high quality scratch & dents, if you know exactly what you want), and don't hesitate to call or chat to order. The reps might be able to sweeten the deal. If there are ever any problems, they take care of it."
"recently purchased an optiplex 990-- six weeks ago
- Talked to sales rep - asked 3 separate questions about the graphics card
Does it have a dual port output? yes he said -- Are they VGA or Digital or both? He said both. Are they ATI compatible? He said yes.-- It arrived with a single graphics port- Called immediately. They said they would fix it. Six weeks later no resolution. six weeks of phone calls. Asked the customer service supervisor-- Do you want me to return and lose a ten year customer rather than fix this? She said that would be fine. So now I get to waste days of setting up all the programs and disk directories-- again. Good bye dell-- Good machines but now have the worst customer service in the industry. Maybe going the way of Compaq?????"
