Let me give you a few examples of why I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Envision to anyone who asked.

First, even before my order, Todd was very responsive to questions about system building and what components would be best suited to my particular needs. There was no upselling, just frank assessments about what was (and wasn't) worth the money and what worked well together.

While in the process of putting my system together Todd felt that "something wasn't quite right," so he decided to hold it back a day to troubleshoot. When he told me this, he also automatically upgraded my shipping. Not only did he find the source of the problem, but with upgraded shipping the computer arrived a day earlier than previously promised.

As for after-sales service, I recently had a fairly serious Windows XP issue to deal with. Todd was very responsive in helping me diagnose the source of the problem and providing me with a number of trouble shooting options. He was even responding to my emails late into Friday evening. Needless to say, his suggestions helped me clear everything up.

Its rare to find such high quality customer service these days. I wouldn't hesitate to call on Envision again for any of my computer needs."

ECS is very price competitive. One might find a lower price elsewhere. However, you will not find a vendor with better service or higher quality. I give ECS my highest rating.
As of this review, 6/3/03, I am in the process of ordering several more computer systems from ECS and will continue to do so. ECS is always my vendor of choice.

"I've sent 2 friends to Envision for purchases of complete towers. One friend was having a problem and I thought it was the motherboard. After a quick and responsive series of emails, Todd's first guess was tried first by me and it was correct: we discovered it was the hard drive. I set up my friend with a new hard drive in no time, no hassles at all, and it's arriving in a few days. Todd made things much easier for both me and my friend.
Again, everything in my first post is still true and I stand by those statements 100%. They still offer a great selection of components and when you consider what a computer purchase is really all about, their prices are great. Why would you want to save a little money buying somewhere else so that you can go through torture hanging on the phone forever or being told something about your warranty that's a bummer or never getting any responses to email? You should never assume that you'll buy something and it will work perfectly forever and no builder can assume that a component will never fail. But Todd stands by you solidly with a 3 year warranty. One year ago I had a freak defect with a floppy drive and he whipped one out to me right away. Consider that floppies almost never fail. Who could've guessed? Apart from that, my purchase has worked perfectly and I run it hard at times with some of the weird software I use. This summer will be 2 years. "I couldn't be happier with ECS. I had been shopping around for a new computer for a while, but I didn't want to buy from one of the large computer sellers (Dell, Gateway etc). I found Envision after a recommendation from my brother. The website was easy to use and allowed me to customize my computer extactly the way I wanted it. Also Todd Keller was extremely helpful responding to my e-mails and answering all my questions. They even changed the specs after I had already completed my order. The computer arrived today in the mail (which is extremely fast since part of the way it went by Military post) and so far works great. "A few months ago I started looking for a new computer to replace an aging Dell Dimension XPS that just wasn't up to the task of pushing pixels on my LCD monitor. I priced systems at Alienware, ThunderBox, Falcon NW, and a few other places, on the theory that I wanted to do more customizing than Dell or Gateway allow, and because I wanted higher quality components.

I initially ordered a computer from Alienware. The total price, with shipping was to be almost $1900. For that price I got a P4 2.6GHz processor, 1 G of RAM, a Radeon 9700 Pro, an 80G HD at 9700 RPM w/ an 8M cache, and a couple of Lite-On optical drives (DVD/CD-RW).

For $1524, I got the same computer from Envision, with the following additional benefits; instead of the Asus P4PE motherboard Alienware was going to give me, I've got a P4C800. In place of the 533MHz FSB on the P4 Alienware was selling me, I've got an 800MHz FSB. Envision didn't try to charge me extra for a decent power supply (an Antec 430W) and "extra" fans. That came with the case, apparently, since I wasn't charged for it.

One reason I cancelled the Alienware system was obviously price; another was the delay in receiving my computer. They charged my card the day the order was placed, but two weeks later, that's as far as the order had progressed. When I called to ask, I was given the run-around. I gather the company is busy, and I know I'm impatient, but I just didn't trust them when they gave me an "updated" ship date.

I received my computer today, less than two weeks after placing the order. I will edit or update this review if there are problems, but I'm very impressed so far with the way it's put together.

I would highly recommend this seller.

Update: 5/27/03: When the computer arrived, it suffered from some display problems. There were weird artifacts on the screen, almost a plaid pattern. I called Envision, figuring I'd be leaving a message since it was after 6:00 p.m. CST, but spoke with Todd. The solution was simple; the video card was loose. I removed and replaced it, and the problem was solved.

I have still had a few problems playing games, but that is an issue with the drivers for the Radeon 9700 Pro, rather than something hardware related, I imagine. The games that do run without a problem run very well indeed.

I remain impressed by this company, and will certainly recommend Envision to anyone I know buying a computer. At least, anyone I like. Everyone else can buy a Dell. "
