"Avoid this company -- they falsely advertise their products and then pull the old "bait and swith" routine.

On May 8, 2009, I placed an Internet order with FotoConnection for a Canon EOS 40D digital camera body. The price was advertised as $677. The condition was advertised as “Brand New With 1 Year USA Warranty.”

The camera arrived via UPS on Thursday, May 14, 2009. Instead of a “Brand New With 1 Year USA Warranty” product, I received a “refurbished” camera body. Refurbished Canon cameras are not “brand new” and do not qualify for a 1 year Canon USA warranty.

I immediately contacted FotoConnection and spoke to Josh (x1502), who told me that the camera was, in fact, new and that he would send me the Canon Warranty card.

I then contacted a Canon factory service representative who researched the camera serial number and confirmed that it was a refurbished camera that does not qualify for a 1 year Canon 1 year warranty.

I called FotoConnection and talked to Bobby, who said he would send me a brand new camera with a 1 year factory warranty card and return instructions for the refurbished camera.

Later in the afternoon of May 14, 2009, I received a call from Edward, a FotoConnection manager, who said he couldn’t locate a new camera. Instead, he offered to give me a free 5 year third party warranty for service provided by a company named Consumer Priority Service (CPS). He was supposed to send me an email confirming his offer. For this CPS warranty to be valid, I have to register it and the camera with CPS within 30 days of purchase. I told Edward that I was leaving on an assignment on May 20, 2009, and would have to receive the warranty information by May 19, 2009.

After three follow-up phone calls, I've still not received the CPS warranty information (May 19).

I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and plan to ship the refurbished Canon EOS 40D back to FotoConnection.

Clearly this is a blatant case of false advertising and “bait and switch” marketing techniques.

" What a pleasant experience, I was nervous about buying a camera over the Internet this way . The people in the sales department were not pushy and took the time to answer my questions and concerns.
It was ship just as they said it would be. I had tried to make the same order from another place but they gave me a run around, after three days of trying to confirm my order I gave up and came to FotoConnection, by this time I was running out of time and needed it over night. FotoConnection came thur like a dream.
Well when it arrived there were a couple of item's missing nothing I needed for the weekend so I was thinking if I would be able to get them with out issues. I called Customer Support and didn't have to wait all day for a representative . I explain what was missing and to my amazement he said no problem we'll get hem right out to you. WOW what a place, to sum it all up they give me a good price , a great product , quick shipping , a friendly staff , and fantastic customer support on my Fuji S2000HD camera , what more could anyone ask for. No I don't work for them I'm just a very satisfied customer from the South. Thanks to everyone At FotoConnection. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

"After ordering online, I called to have the shipment expedited to 3-5 day shipping. I was told everything was in stock and guided to buy the correct memory card. Very helpful. However, my order did not arrive when I expected. I needed it by May 14th for a trip.
After two emails, I finally was able to call during business hours and expressed my frustation that I did not have my order and there was no tracking number online.
There had been a miscommunication about the "in stock" status. Once the associate knew that I needed the camera he had it drop shipped to arrive the following morning. Disaster averted. The camera worked wonderfully on our trip to Big Bend. We had so much fun with it.
A company shows its true colors when it solves a problem, and fotoconnection came through for me.

"I ordered a Silver casio Exilim EX-SR10.1MP Digital Camera on May 13, 2009. There was a problem with my shipping adress so I was contacted by customer service via phone and email to rectify the proplem as not to hold up the order. Later that day I reviewed the order information from the email and realized that they were planning on shipping me a Blue camera instead of the Silver that I ordered. I immediately contacted customer service to make them aware of the problem and was told that there was nothing they could about it because the package had already shipped. I was very unhappy about this since this was a gift for my sister and I wasn't contacted about the Silver camera not being available. Well after 4 frustrating phone calls to Foto Connection, Andy was finally able to offer me some great customer satisfaction. To make up for the fact that I didn't receive the exact camera that I ordered, Andy was able to offer me one of the digital camera kits at no additional charge. Which made me feel like this company really wanted to make up for their mistake. Andy, I would like to thank you very much for your assistance with this problem. You took a customer that was ready to file a complaint or at the very least ready to write a very unflattering review on the internet and turned her into a satisfied customer.

I still would have liked to have received the Silver camera but my sister will make due with the Blue one. So Andy job well done.

"I phoned in my order for the Canon SD1100 camera and received very prompt service. They immediately sent me the authorization emails just like they promised. I had my camera just 4 days later. What great customer service! I did not receive the SD card with my camera so I called back support. They were wonderful! They immediately shipped the sd memory card and apologized for the confusion. I will definitely order from fotoconnection.com in the near future."

"The LCD TV was mispriced. I was shown one price on the checkout screen and my Credit Card was billed for $300 more. Foto Connection never sends the price with order confirmation e-mail. They do not even show the price on their online order status.

Additionally, they corner you to buy a mount and send a mount for twice the market value which is not even recommended for the TV in question.

Overall, I am very disappointed by their sales practices.

"I was not real happy when I checked the Order Status of an order placed on 5/11/09 and didn't find status of movement. I had rec'd call from a rep on that date trying to sell me more items, which is normal for this company. He had given me the impression that the order would be shipped that day. After having ckecked status everyday since the 11th and not finding movement, I called today, the 13th, and was told the product was out of stock and that Fotoconnection was having a difficult time getting product from Casio. THe agent I was speaking with, Greg, tried very hard to fing a replacement product that would meet my requirements. Well I had to get an newer product for more money, Was this bait and switch?, but he did pay shipping and send it so it would arrive in the time frame I needed in my hands. I'll see if it is. Greg was very helpful but the product I ordered is still on their web page and according to the web page, it's still shhowing "In-Stock" What's going on folks. This is the second time I've ordered from Fotoconnection and where I purchsed my first casio camera so I went back to get another one since I broke the first one."

"BUYERS BEWARE !! BUYERS BEWARE!! PURCHASED A CASIO EX F1 CAMERA AND ACCESSORIES. I RECEIVED THE ORDER BUT THERE WAS NO INVOICE AND THE EXTRA BATTERY WAS THE WRONG MODEL. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMEROUS TIMES FOR AN INVOICE AND A CALL TAG TO RETURN THE BATTERY. EACH TIME I GOT A DIFFERENT STORY AND AFTER ABOUT TWO WEEKS I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T PRIVDE ME WITH AN INVOICE BECAUSE THE ITMES WERE PURCHASED AS A PACKAGE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS I PURCHASED EACH OF THE ITEMS INDIVIDUALLY AND WANTED A INVOICE TO RELECT WHAT I HAD PAID. I ALSO PURCHASED A 3 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND A 3 YEAR DAMAGE POLICY. THE COMPANY WHO ISSUES THESE POLICIES REQUIRED THAT I SEND THEM A DETAILED INVOICE SHOWING EXACTLY WHAT I PAID FOR THE CAMERA. "Scam is an understatement. I ordered a Fuji s8100fd. The price seemed excellent. I did not receive any calls, but did receive several emails saying I needed to call, because there was a problem with my credit card. I realized, when placing the order, that I mistakenly put the incorrect month for my expiration date. I assumed that was the problem. I called, told them the correct info., and that was the end of that. My camera shipped the very next day. I received it in a very timely manner. I had also ordered an accessory package. This was a case, card, card reader, full size tripod, and a few other small items. When the camera arrived so soon, I was pleased. That lasted until I opened the box. This was an obviously refurbished camera. The camera was in a white box, that someone slapped a Fuji label on. No packaging materials at all. Just loose. The tripod was approx. 6 inches tall. No warranty card, non Fuji cables, no lens cover or strap. It was late, so I had to call the next day. I spoke with Andy, Mgr. Cust. Serv. or so I'm told. He tried to convince me to keep the camera, and he would give me a 5 year extended warranty. I paid for a new, factory sealed camera, and that is what I wanted. I received an RMA#, and returned just the camera, the cables, and tripod. I also wrapped the camera in bubble wrap. I was assured that the correct items would be shipped as soon as possible. After repeated calls, to Andy, Adam, etc., my camera and tripod were shipped again. It was a different camera, but in no better condition. This one came with just one cable, no warranty card, no lens cap, no strap. The tripod could have been the same one I sent back. It was identical. I immediately called Andy at customer service, or so I'm told. He tried to convince me to keep the camera. This time he offered me a three year warranty. No thanks. I told him I would go to a store, and just buy it. He suggested I may want to keep both for several days, and think about it. No thanks. For twenty minutes, he tried first to convince me that I had a new camera, then to keep the camera, then he told me that they had no new ones in stock. I see on their site, as of today, May 13, they are still for sale. I also demanded my shipping costs back, since this was there mistake, not mine. That is the policy on their site. We'll see how that works out. I will update this, as it goes through the resolution process. I have already contacted my credit card company.
5/26/09 I still have not received the credit on my credit card yet. I have heard from no one at Foto Connection. I just called the store, and again spoke with Andy. He assured me that the credit would be on my credit card within 24 hrs. I also asked him about my shipping charges. This time, he informed me that it was upto the billing department to see if I qualified for my charges. Since I never received what I ordered, I can hardly wait for their excuse as to why I don't. I will update this, as this situation changes, either for good or bad.

I must now conclude this miserable, but learning experience. I finally did receive the credit to my credit card, for the products purchased. I made numerous attempts to get the refunds of the two shipping charges I had to pay to send back the garbage they were pawning off as new. I have never received it, and of course, do not expect to. I was told that their policy is to not refund shipping charges. That is an out right lie, according to their own policy on their web site. I have since learned that the camera I was trying to buy, brand new, is manufacture discontinued. I learned this, from Fuji. I contacted them. I have since bought a different camera, and am quite happy with it, and the service I received when purchasing it. I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of merchandise on line, over many years. This was, by far the worst experience I have ever had. The learning experience, was that I will always research a little more than in the past, when dealing with an online site that I had not previously dealt with, and that I will never deal with any of the related stores, sites, or companies, associated with foto connection. If by some miracle, and perhaps a little help from the attorney general, I actually receive my shipping charges, I'll post that info.

"DON’T do business with this company before you carefully read the reviews here at ResellerRatings, and then do so FOREWARNED.

On 03-31-2009, I called Fotoconnection, and Spoke with Sales representative Jim. I told him I was interested in purchasing a USA Non-Grey Market Canon 50D.

We agreed to a price of $1074.00 for the Camera including a 3 year extended warranty and expedited shipping. In our conversation, I asked 3 times for verification that I would NOT receive a grey market camera for that price.

On 04-03/2009, I received the package from Fotoconnection. In the shipping box was a Grey Market 50D with the “EWS” warranty pamphlet, NOT the USA Warranty card that would have come with a USA Retail package.

I received the second camera on 04/22/2009, Again a grey market camera, and this time, it was an open box, and had a previous shipping recite from another customer who had returned it. I called customer service, and again spoke with Edward, who asked me to send him images of the packing slip to prove that it was previously an open box. Edward said he would call me back, but never did. I received an Email that my order was cancelled that night. I called again the following day, and Edward said that I would be receiving 2 RMA’s for the camera & the warranty, and to include the shipping charge recite in the return box, and that it would be credited to me upon completion.

I sent the two back on 04/25/2009, including a copy of the UPS shipping recite Fotoconnection received the two on 04/30/2009. After many calls to customer service, I was refunded my purchase price only on 05/07/2009. During each call to customer service, I was assured that my shipping expenses would be refunded because it was not my fault that Fotoconnection could not deliver the product I ordered. I called on Friday 05/08/2009, and spoke again with customer service about the shipping return refund. I was told that there was two “open tickets” that the warehouse manager named “Gupta” would sign off on before it was credited back to me.

On Monday 05/11/2009, I still did not have my refund; I called customer service, and spoke with Josh, who then told me that they would not give me a refund on my shipping because it was not part of the original sales slip. He then said that he would look into it, but that Mondays were busy, and he did not know when he would be able to get back to me.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, I documented my experience on ResellerRatings. Shortly thereafter, I received a call and an Email asking to call and speak with a Mr. B**. His last name is starred out to abide with ResellerRatings guidelines. He stated regret that I had not been able to deal with him directly, but would only offer me a refund on my shipping expenses if I were to remove my posting at ResellerRatings.

I promptly removed my review from ResellerRatings per Mr.B’s verbal agreement, and on May 26th, I finally received the refund for my return shipping expenses.

I am re-posting my review, because I do not want others to be subjected to the coercion that was forced upon me to get my due refund. This was the first time I had bought something from fotoconnection, and I deeply regret it. The amount of time I wasted trying to get them to fix there mistakes ended up costing me much more than I would have saved from them. I ended up buying a true USA model 50D from a reputable source for only $25.00 more than Fotoconnections price. If you choose to do business with fotoconnection after reading my experience, than you do so forewarned.

"The dryer I originally ordered was no longer available so they offered me a good deal on a new model. My dryer was delivered when expected. They reminded me to register with RepairMaster for the extra warranty I purchased. I did not have a copy of the invoice with me and Calvin promptly e-mailed it to me and answered all of my questions.
