"** WARNING - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! **
Total bait and switch FRAUD. I ordered two Westinghouse 37" LCD TVs (one for the living room as a TV, the other as a PC monitor) because they had a great price. Several hours after I ordered, I got a call from a sales rep stating that the model I ordered was an "import" model, and had only a 30-day warranty through FotoConnection (not through the manufacturer). He said I had to pay an additional $150 PER TV ($300 total) to get 1-year warranties. First RED FLAG.
Their website order page (http://fotoconnection.com/vi-40642________Westinghouse-LVM-37W3-37-quot;-.html) CLEARLY states "USA Warranty" at the top, and "1 Year Limited Warranty" at the bottom. When I pointed this out to the sales rep, he said those are for the "USA model", and I had ordered the "import model" (there was only ONE model on the order page, and it CLEARLY indicates a 1-year USA warranty). I asked to speak to a manager, and it sounded like the same guy disguising his voice (RED FLAG #2), reiterating that I had to pay an extra $300 to get the 1-year warranties.
When I insisted that they honor their description on the website for the 1-year warranties, I was told that they would do so and that I should expect the TVs in about FOUR WEEKS. (Even though they said they had the TVs IN STOCK!) (RED FLAG #3)
I called back the next day to inquire about the order, and was told that the order was canceled the day before (apparently because I insisted they honor their own description and refused to pay the extra $300). (RED FLAG #4)
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!"
"Terrible customer service. representatives lied
about the shipping of the product. Lied about replacing the product with an upgrade when original product was out of stock.
Do not buy from these people."
"Was told many times that the order was going to be shipped "today" only to be told a week later that they had none in stock then I was told that it was shipping immediately, it was not. If you need your items within three weeks of purchase date I highly recommend not buying from this company."
"Horrible company! Placed an order for a camera IN STOCK,Canon Elura 100, and ordered it for 3 day select shipping (3-5 days) so it would be here in plently of time before the birth of my daughter. A sales rep called me back 20 minutes after I placed my order to get me to buy other batteries and tape for it and I agreed. 7 days later the baby came, but still no camera. Once we got out of the hospital I went to their web site to track my order and found out it did not even ship out until 9 days after I ordered it. I called to ask why it didn't ship when the site said it was IN STOCK and to have them credit me back for the extra $12 for 3-5 day shipping versus ground. After getting bounced back and forth between billing and customer service, a customer service rep finally took my call. He said it did ship out in 3 Day select 9 days after I ordered it so he would give me a refund for the extra $12 shipping charge. He said the item wasn't in stock as advertised on their site and that they didn't get it until 9 days later. He didn't seem to understand why I would want a refund back for 3 day shipping when the product was going to be here 14 days after I ordered it since they did ship it 3 day select after waiting to ship it for 9 days. All the reps I talked to were very rude and didn't want to deal with me. This was before I could even talk to someone to complain about my order. The rep said to just not accept the order and refuse the shipping. Sounds like this has happend with them several times before. So, I am now refusing a $400 order from this poor excuse for a company because they lied about it being in stock and they are so company centric they won't credit me back $12 for the extra shipping charge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL!"
"After biting my lip and ordering from this company (there are SOME good reviews for them) I have so far had a pleasant experience. I ordered a TV stand and verified my order with one of their reps. He was fairly pleasant and didn't try to sell me a single thing. He said, "just the TV stand?" I said, "yes", he said, "Ok, we'll get that out to you, no problem." I guess you can't really sell many accesories or warranty's for a TV stand. We will see what happens next. I've already talked to my credit card company who say they'll reverse the charges if something shady happens. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed, the price on the TV stand can't be beat. I will update this when I know what comes next.
UPDATE
Well I waited over a week for my order to get out of the "processing" phase which should have only taken 24 - 72 hours. Called fotoconnection, the guy said it would ship in "a couple days." At this point I was so nervous about losing money I just asked him to cancel my order in which he replied "you can't cancel this order." I said, "uh, watch me." He said, "you really want to cancel this order?" I said "yep" He said, "Ok, we'll go on ahead with that." I then got a pleasant e-mail from them apologizing for any inconvenience and no charged made to my credit card. Not sure if I ever would have gotten the merchandise at the correct price. Didn't have the time or bravery to see in the end.. lol"
"UNBELIEVABLE!!! The rudeness and stupidity of the salespeople at this company astound me. "Dave" tried the hardest upsell I have ever been priveleged to endure. He tried selling me the "stand," the warranty, and then told me the "lower" price shipping wasn't available in my area, (SC,) so I'd have to pay much more. When I told him to cancel the order, he told me he couldn't. GRRRRR!!!! Then he offered to send it at the quoted price, and it would get to me in 4 weeks. (Not 10-12 days, as stated on site.) I said cancel it. He offered me $10 off. It was all I could do not to tell him to stuff it. I guess I'll buy local. 4 internet companies have bait and switched me. I am just trying to buy a TV and they think the average internet consumer is a gullible moron."
"Yes, pay attention to the other negative reviews and do **not** order from this vendor.
Tried to get me to pay more than the price offered on the web. When I declined, cancelled the order.
"
"I ordered a wireless camera package. Item was in stock. Two weeks no package. I called they were going to ship next day air. Two weeks no package. Cancelled order. Don't BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. "
"OK PEOPLE, IT”S TIME TO FIGHT BACK! You can obviously see that this place is a scam site preying on innocent customers that think they are finding a deal. Now that they’ve inconvenienced and scammed you, it’s time to FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE and inconvenience them. I urge that you go to their web site and place fictitious orders for all kinds of things, AND LOTS OF THEM . Fill out their on-line order form with a fake name using your credit card number & CHANGE THE LAST 4 DIGITS, then give them a false phone #. I hope as a group we can tie up their order box with so many orders that they will stop with their unscrupulous ways. I ordered 2 Nikon D200’s this way & even gave them my actual phone #. I had a blast when Peter called to bait & switch me. I kept telling him to call back in 5 minutes & I that I really wanted the cameras. After him calling me about 12 times over two days & I finally gave into him and he thought he had me. Then a few minutes later he called me to say that my credit card # was invalid. I told him I changed my mind and hung up, then put his phone # on “call block”. LET’S GO PEOPLE-TIME TO ACT!"
"Very difficult to reach someone. Add online was very misleading. Said all products had USA warranty and in another spot, said 1 yr warranty. The camera and leans I ordered, after I asked, had just a 90 day in shop warranty. Not as advertsised. I had to pay extra for USA warranty and could not get lens as advertised. Your staff was very difficult to work with. I will do my best to tell everyone to stay away from fotoconnection. Considering filing complaint w/ NY authorities over false advertising and bait & switch tactics."
"I was not happy with the store - I needed to cancel the order, but they wouldn't let me as they explained that the order was approved and my credit card was charged, they would need to ship to me and then I could return it to them and pay a 15% restocking fee. This was absurd since they hadn't shipped the item yet. It seemed that they were just interested in making some money somewhere instead of making my happy."
"THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY. They list their cheapest prices on the internet. Then you call to place an order and they tell you that the stock number you referenced is not a USA product which has no USA warranty and that to get the USA product with the USA warranty, the price is higher. THE "USA PRODUCT" IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE ANYWHERE ON THE WEBSITE. The website specifically states that a 1-year USA Warranty is included on the so-called foreign product. The explanation given for this was that the foreign product must be shipped back to NY for service, and the USA product can be taken to any service center. Also, website prices vary from day to day and cannot be trusted."
"I am going through all of the same problems that everyone else is with this company. I am looking for further information about getting all of my money back including outrageous %15 restock fee (the %15 we get paid even though you don't get anything we have promised you fee). If anyone can explain how to beat these guys, please share. I am also starting to make efforts to get them barred from froogle, as this is where I found them. The email I sent to froogle is at the bottom of this post. If anyone else knows where else they are advertising please take similar action. Check out (http://www.bbbonline.org/consumer/complaint.asp)and complain to someone who can help. I found this form to complain about NY companies(http://www.oag.state.ny.us/complaints/html/comp_consumer.html), Elliot Spitzer (the attorney general of NY) has done a lot of good for the public, and if all of the complaining parties keep pestering his office with these forms maybe we can get these scumbags in the legal bind they ought to be in.
open letter to froogle:
I am currently involved with a credit card charge dispute with a company that I located through froogle (inoax.com, fotoconnection.com, 1stopcamera.com, thenewconnection.com) and I am not the only one. The company has been using a bait and switch scam to con shoppers into buying products they don't even have and then try shipping them vastly inferior products as replacements at the same price. There is a great deal of discussion on the web about this company, and their actions are clearly dubious. While I do not hold froogle responsible in any way, I do feel that the reseller in all of its forms should be barred from the froogle directory. Even though consumers can simply click on the reseller ratings and find out what I am explaining, even pointing consumers to this retailer at all is a terrible idea. Froogle should attempt to distance itself from this type of consumer fraud, as it only serves to tarnish their reputation.
Thank you

"I made a purchase on-line of a big screen TV with a debit card. A few days later, a salesman called to try to persuade me to purchase an extended warranty and over-priced accessories. He talked me into purchasing 3 projector lamp bulbs and an hdmi cable. When the items arrived, the lamp bulbs weren't there and, instead, there was an extended warranty which promised to provide as many as 3 lamps in a 3 year period. I called their customer service for an itemized bill and to cancel the warranty for bulbs. They faxed an unitemized bill and refused to cancel the warranty purchase.
Moral of the story: if the price looks to good to be true, it is too good to be true."
"I was going on a trip to California on July 7th and wanted a back up battery for my portable dvd player. Called Fotoconnection on the 5th of July and they said they had it in Stock for 36.00. I said I needed it shipped NDA since I was flying in two days. They said no problem but with the shipping charges it would be 100.00 I didn't care since I couldn't find the battery elsewhere. They charged my card on the 6th, for $136.00. Not even close to the price quoted. I still have not received the battery. Stay away from this fradulent company."
