"I purchased a Universal Canopy for a pergola that I built at home. I was attracted by the riplock material and the idea of a waterproof canopy to reduce weathering and wear on my patio furniture. This option was also relatively inexpensive compared to ordering a custom tailored product.

This canopy doesn't have ties, so the weighted rods need to be ordered separately to keep it in place. This seems like a good idea, but the weighted rods are not adequate. They are a slide rods and only one half of each pair is weighted, which causes and imbalance. They also don't really weigh very much. The first day I put the canopy up, it blew right off and causes the rods to get bent and scuffed. Luckily, it didn't tear the material. I should mention it was a moderately windy day, but not high wind at all.

However...I was able to solve this problem pretty easily. I purchased two black painted steel pipes at Menard's, cut them to size and put them in the rod sleeves. The ornamental rods slid right into the pipes. This added about 5-6 times the amount of weight that the original rods had and so far it has been adequate to keep the canopy on the pergola and taught enough so that water collection is minimal. Prospective buyers should be informed that a canopy like this will collect water between joists on a pergola. A taught canopy will minimize water collection to the point that it will dry out readily with a little wind and sun.

So, altogether, I have a working canopy that suits my needs for a little under $200 and about 2 hours of additional work) (canopy, ornamental weighted rods, and steel pipes), which is much less than a custom order for another company. I would advise Garden Winds to add a note to potential buyers that their weighted rods are not sufficient to keep a canopy from blowing off."

"WORST customer service EVER! I now feel obligated post/WARN on social media as the Supervisor Jocelyn brazenly hung up on me as I was speaking!! If you're ever needing patio replacement items, DO NOT order from them, they will ROB you of your money for shipping and return when you cancel an item prior to shipping but supervisor said I was lying, so 80.00 is the bottom line they'll be stealing. Never had a problem previously with the company, but this time they were BEYOND rude!! How do companies get away with this! Will be hitting up the BBB next!!"

"Excellent customer service when I was trying to figure out the size I needed - having an older Target branded gazebo with two different dimensions with the same name - brilliant by them (not). Then I received the item. It seems by all appearances to be well crafted. It fit. Big plus points there. I actually prefer the look to the old ones.

Obviously, the real rating will be how it lasts. I went through several tops in the past, with a very windy area seemingly ripping them up. I have hopes this one will prove more sturdy. But at this point I would highly recommend using them for your gazebo topper needs."
