"I purchase regularly from Groupon and find that the results are mixed. The prices are usually decent (though never exceptional). However, the quality of goods is hit or miss. Some things are great and others are terrible, but their generous return policy compensates for that. I have two complaints - one is the lack of clear limitations on local deals and the other is the useless customer service. I have found the restrictions on local deals are not always clearly spelled out and in many cases the deals are for a particular branch of a franchise but the details are not always readily available. For example, I have purchased deals that were for a business in San Jose, but there are multiple locations in San Jose and the deal only applies to one.
Second, the customer service response is by rote. They quote you some party line that may or may not address your question. Repeated queries get the same response often followed by an email congratulating themselves on solving your problem - which they did not do. Most recently, they sent me a different item than the one I ordered. When requested to actually send the correct item they repeatedly sent me instructions on how to return the item but completely ignored my repeated requests for the correct item."
"I purchased a voucher for the wrong location of a franchise. Customer support says I am just out of luck. They can not give me a refund nor can they transfer the voucher over to the correct location. Obviously I would highly recommend not purchasing through groupon and I won't be. "

"Ordered item contained multiple pieces, arrived with pieces missing, some others duplicated. Called Customer Service, not knowing then that they are a "re-seller," and was told, I think, by a non-English speaking rep that they could not send replacement pieces or re-ship the whole order, and that basically I had no recourse. I was not happy. I then e-mailed a supervisor who fairly quickly gave me a full refund of my payment. I asked about but was not sent a return-shipping label, so assume that the pieces I did received are mine to keep?"

"Two ceramic items were shipped in an oversized box with nothing but 2 loose, thin sheets of bubble wrap. The box has NOTHING on it indicating that there were fragile items inside. The package delivered with both items broken and shattered. There is no customer service. Takes 2-3 weeks to get a refund AFTER they receive the returned items, IF you can even get ahold of them."

They cannot refund for 2 to 3 weeks which is ridiculous when they can take my money immediately. Beware on Groupon because many items show value is being extremely high when in reality it’s not. You can buy the same items off of Amazon for the same price or sometimes even better than Groupons."
