"So our 20yo dryer developed a major squeal that gradually got louder and more consistent over a few weeks. We figured out it was the bearing assembly in the back, but also figured it was expensive and difficult. Not!
The advisor confirmed our assessment, told us the part was $20 and directed us to the right YouTube video. Easy peasy! The only problem - when we put the dryer drum back in, we somehow snagged the heating coil in the back of the unit so, when we turned the dryer on, it shorted out and destroyed the coil. Quite the light show! So about $80 later we replaced the coil (again, a YouTube from the same source) and, this time, all went well.
We had already picked out our new $1800 washer/dryer set, but $100 and a little excitement allows us to put that off for the foreseeable future. Thanks!"
