Scammed

"used this service to ask ONE question. When making an account their membership policy is unclear and confusing. It's stated it cost 1 dollar to sign up ( which would be refunded) but in actuality they charged me 46 dollars for a membership fee to answer ONE question, which they answerd poorly in my opinion. And they are refusing to refund that 46 dollars even though I was unknowingly a "member" for less than 24 hours, It seems in not the first person they have done this to. The sad part is my question I asked them was about how to get child support because I am a single mother who is unemployed and because of their policy of taking 46 dollars I now have 50 dollars in my account to support my toddler. They are refusing to refund my money even though I told them I wasn't satisfied with their services and I only asked 1 simple question to the expert, and the answer was not anything that wasn't public knowledge. Below I'll attach the initial conversation that explains the one dollar fee and does NOT state that any purchases are nonrefundable. And I also see on other people's reviews complaining about the same problem they offered refunds to them but have refused a refund to me"

Bad company. Stay away

"As you can see from the amazing amount of one star reviews, it seems, to me, that JustAnswer’s actual business model is tricking you into a $1 answer and then charging your card $60 a month for a membership you didn’t agree to or ask for. The ethical thing would be for them to reach out after the $1 trial and ASK if you want to sign up for a membership.

They got me for 5-months in a row and refused a refund. I used the service ONLY EVER once (when I signed up for the $1 trial), and then paid for it five months in a row to the tune of $300.

I’d stay far away from this company. My opinion is they care more about money than their reputation. Just read the one-star reviews.

They Steal From You And Won’t Let You Cancel. They Just Keep Pulling Money Out Of Your Account

"Description of Complaint:
About a year ago, I had bought a vehicle that had ac problems. I went on Just Answer and paid the $1 fee to receive an answer for a question. A few months later, they started billing me. I was not under the impression there was going to be monthly fees for a service that honestly didn't even give me an answer. I contacted the number on my bank statement for the transaction Just Answer and found out that they had signed me up for a plan. I then requested them to cancel the plan, since I no longer wanted to use there services, as it was a waste of time anyways. 4-5 months go by and I realized they had still been billing me this same $34 charge every month. I normally don't check my statements, which is obviously a mistake because they continue to charge you over and over without your knowledge. Again, I contacted the number on my bank statement for Just answer and requested they cancelled. They assured me again that they would be cancelling it. I thought it was the last I would hear from them, but just a few months later I noticed the same charges. I once again contacted the company to cancel it. The gentlemen on the phone says to me the account says active and so i have to pay the fees. He asks me how I cancelled the last cancellation. I told him, just like last time, I called and cancelled it over the phone. He says do you have proof, I told him I believe I received an email, but I'm not sure if I still have it. I checked my search box and saw a previously used email "just answer" but the email had been deleted. He says if so can't show proof, then I am stuck with the fees. At this point, I am so sick of being robbed I told him just cancel it now so you will leave me alone. He said he was going to send me a email. I checked my email and spam, nothing. He tried to hang up the phone after I didn't get it, I told him he't going to hang up until I had the cancellation email. it took 3 emails from him to finally get my confirmation. Read my review since the last time I tried to cancelled.

Horrible company
Horrible company. Fake scammers! Don’t use them. You pay to ask one question then they sign you up for a membership you know nothing about. Then they bill you every month for outrageous fees regardless if you never use their services again. You contact them via email through website to cancel, no response. You call to cancel, they say sure will cancel it and months later your getting direct debits still. You call again and you get the same lame story. You ask for a manager and they say they can’t place you on hold and they will not refund you any money regardless. I have never dealt with such a hassle. These people should really loose their license to have a business, especially when they are scamming people out of your money. I’ve been trying to get them off my credit card for 8 months and still getting bogus charges.
Stop acting like you care to help! I contacted you multiple times to get this issue resolved and ask for a refund, but you guys at just BS and don’t actually care for providing quality service. I called you same day again that this review was written. I was told once again BS and you would have a manager contact me back and guess what....never got a call....you were able to locate all my info and the account and verified my credit card info. Just give my family a refund and move on.

Stole an extra month's membership fee from me.

"I used JustAnswer last month, and since I didn't expect to use them again anytime soon, I immediately went online and cancelled my account. I got a bot-chat response telling me my account was canceled and that I was free to use the service for the rest of the month. A month later, a second payment was auto-withdrawn from my PayPal account, and right after that I received an email telling me my account was cancelled. So I was charged for two months instead of one.
Attempts to get reimbursed for the second month went nowhere. They demanded "proof" that I'd cancelled my account a month earlier.
I'm assuming that this was a technical glitch with JustAnswer's system and not a deliberate policy of theft. But their unwillingness to reimburse me, and to instead assume that I was lying and attempting to steal from them is unacceptable.

Did they change the format or were they always this bad?

"I was having a problem trying to troubleshoot a vehicle issue. I've seen countless entries online from JustAnswer providing feedback to other folks in a similar situation, so I bought the 1 week trial for $1. I then wrote out my question, provided all the useful background info of the car as well as the symptoms, and instead of being transferred to a mechanic, they put me in touch with a software tech. He then apologizes, but said they don't help with engine/mechanical issues and that I really should have a professional look at it. Really? I asked the question first, then get sent to a PayPal to pay, then get redirected to a software tech to say they can't help me? This is fraud. It isn't the $1 that I wasted. It's the idea of it. The principle. Where were the 4 Chrysler techs that were supposedly online right then and ready to assist?

I'm filing a complaint as well. It may seem petty to some, but again, it's the principle of the matter. You don't have me write out some long question then say you've got mechanics online right now waiting to help me, then charge me, then tell me you can't help me! I'm absolutely infuriated over the entire situation.

It's a scam!

"It's basically a rip-off. You have to register & pay by CC (to get a 15 second answer from a small engine mechanic) and if you don't read the fine print, they start charging $53/month without ever informing you. Three months later when i found out, having not used the 'service'? again, they refused any credit.

Bordering on Fraud

"Approach with extreme caution. I asked Microsoft a question and they switched me to JA stating I would have a $1 refundable service fee. I started texting with a JA guy who didn't bother reading the transferred question, but eventually got around to absorbing my issue and providing a suggested answer. It worked until the next time I rebooted my computer, but at least the tech tried.

The next day I noticed about 15 emails in my spam folder from JA and found out that I was on a recurring $46/month service plan. I went to their website and cancelled and they had one of their dupes ask me why I was cancelling. Cancelling!?! I never signed up in the first place.

I called their 800 number (on their website for those that need it) to find out what the heck kinda scam they were running and got a 5 minute lecture about reading terms of service. Yep, guilty. I was in the middle of a computer crisis and I got transferred from Microsoft to this fraud site with promises of a refundable $1 service charge and I took MS at their word. After much complaining and accusation on my part and reciprocal lecturing on the JA reps part, they issued a refund of the $46 monthly fee.

I will be reporting my experience back to MS and if I ever come across JA as an option for getting help on any problem, believe me, the credit card stays in the wallet.

STAY AWAY!

"This website is misleading, unethical, and scams you out of your money. They advertise and promise to help you out for “$1” but this is actually a “join fee” paired with a $40+ membership that renews without your consent. They never inform you about the membership, and hide it everywhere they can. Although the service might be helpful, they will mislead, deceive, and trick you out of your money.

I cannot recommend this service, as it’s likely you’ll be billed for way more than you are thinking. Save your money, find somewhere else.
