"Order placed on 10/7/07. About 2 weeks later I received an email stating the pairs of shoes I ordered were back ordered and would be shipped within a short time. When I still had not received them by 12/2 I went on line to obtain contact info and found several complaints for the same issue I was having. I reached customer service on 12/3 after 1/2 hour wait, cancelled order and was told I would be credited with a refund within 30 days. I insisted on immediate refund because my card was charged over 2 months ago. The response was that they had 30 days to credit my card and that was their policy. I then asked to speak with a manager and stated I would call the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs if I was not given immediate refund. I was then tranfered to manager who stated immediate refund would be credited."
"My order placed on 9-12-07 was canceled by Lord John's due to product unavailability. It took them 2 days to charge me, but wait 30 days to refund regardless of why the order was canceled. So...they take your money right away, not knowing whether or not the product for which you are paying is available. "This order was originally placed in October 30, 2006. I went back and forth with Lord John's for months being repeatedly told that the shoes were on backorder. I started calling Birkenstock USA who told me that only Lord John's could tell me anything about the shoes. Finally Birkenstock said by email that the shoes would be shipped the end of Nov. then Dec. Never happened. Again I called and emailed Lord John's who told me to call Birkenstock. Birkenstock USA was horrible, giving different information many times. I called Lord John's this morning 2/13/07 to find out Lord John's cancelled my order because Birkenstock said I canceled my order with them. I never did! I asked Lord John's why they did not check with me to see if I wanted to cancel and they said they did not have to...they just took the word of Birkenstock? I cancelled my business with both parties. Disgusting treatment."

I would like to know something please. I have been very uphappy with the service I recieved. The first thing that happened was I ordered the shoes on September 30th. No one notified me the order was cancelled after I wait almost a whole month(October). I then get this "cold" email saying we cancelled your order. No one ever picks up the telephone. I understand you are a large company. I understand you restock product. This is no reason to treat me like I do not matter. My money is important to me and where I spend it. I would have been a repeat customer as there are a lot of online shoe companies out there.
I would like to know something so I can finish my business with you. Please do not delay in your decision about my money your charged me.

"I've had the same terrible experience that other reviewers have had, and this just in the last couple weeks. My card was charged right away, my order was cancelled after only a couple days, my card was never refunded, getting ahold of them by phone has been impossible, and no action was taken to refund my card after my first e-mail to them. The staff recently told me that they have new management and larger crew, so I can only assume that the earlier reviews have been read and Lord John's Footwear has made the inprovements needed to avoid future bad service.
I have purchased about 8 pairs or shoes, boots and sandals from lordjohnsfootwear.com and usually receive my order within 7-10 business days and sometimes with an unexpected gift!!
Their prices are the lowest online. I can't say a bad thing about my experience with them. The site that I bought my digital camera from experienced a bunch of bad reviews written from their competitor. I wonder is Lord John's Footwear is experiencing a handful of those.

"My tale is no different than the previous ones. I ordered on July 20, the credit card was charged immediately. The web site said "in stock". After a month transpired, I wrote and got the backorder story with an offer of 5%, with the promise they would be shipped the week of Sept 5.
Needless to say, the shoes never arrived. When I emailed again, they cancelled the order, telling me the shoes were discontinued by the manufacturer.
Absolutely horrible communications, deceptive business practices make this place a place to stay away from!"
"Foolishly I did not heed the reviews posted by other customers regarding Lord John's Footwear. Same story. Order placed for sandals June 27th and credit card charged. Called after 14 business days had passed and was told they were backordered. No email had been sent informing me of this matter. As of Sept. 12th, the backorder arrival dates have come and gone, no shoes, and in a phone call to them this morning I was informed my order had been cancelled. No email had been sent to me, summer is over and I no longer need sandals. Hopefully I will find a credit on my charge card statement within a couple of days. I have never seen such poor customer service. In fact, it is non existent. Be aware that when you buy from these people, you may feel that you have thrown your money into an abyss. I won't make the same mistake again. Don't be misled by their discounts as they have the use of your money for so long - they can afford to offer discounts as a hook. Also be aware that they do not email customers regarding order status as other online stores do, and they are almost impossible to reach by phone. They don't have an 800 number so you'll be spending money on long distant calls too. Oh well, you got a discount, right?"
