"Walk into Frederick, MD, store to buy a fridge. I have a busted fridge at home, so I'm ready willng & able to buy. Go to and hang out in appliance section looking for an employee, any employee to talk to - no one there. Finally I leave the store but on the way out, I tell the customer service desk my experience and tell them I'm going elsewhere where there's customer service. They chuckle and say "whatever." On my way to another store, I call this Lowe's and ask for the manager. I get the assistant manager and tell him my story. His response: "whatever." You can do better. Whatever. "
"Lowe's routinely requests reviews of any purchases I make there. I recently gave a very negative review to a light switch they sell that is made in Mexico. I pointed out that the manufacturer, Cooper, made a higher quality yet less expensive version of the product made in the USA that was available at other stores. Surprise, surprise . . . they sent me a note saying it violated their policy and they wouldn't post it despite the fact there was no unacceptable language used. So be forewarned when you read the reviews on their site, they probably censored or did not post the negative ones."
"I ordered an air filter for my air purifier online. Supposedly, the item was to be pulled, and the item was ready for immediate pick-up according to feedback from the local store. I paid online, so there would be no delays at the customer service pick-up station in the store. When I arrived, the filter was not pulled, they had to look up my order in the computer and even with the customer number that I wrote down and gave to them, they had trouble finding it in the computer. THE ITEM WAS NOT PULLED! I had to help the customer service rep where the item was located and where the shelf was on the isle. After pulling it off myself, the rep walked away. When I took the filter up to the customer service desk, the receipt had to be printed out, and a copy had to be made on the copy machine! I could have done this all by myself, faster, and with less delays!!! How can customer service be worse...only in Redding, Ca.!"
"I ordered a stainless steel J-bolt last weekend from Lowes online. It was supposed to be delivered by Thursday of this week.
I must say this has been a bad experience with Lowes online. I used to love the store, but not so much anymore.
I did my part - I placed the order - I knew it was one J-bolt for the price and it being stainless steel. Later I was informed that my order had been cancelled because Lowes listed it as 10-count and it was priced for one. I needed it to repair a trailer for a fishing trip I had planned for weeks.
Lowes canceled my order, and did NOT notify me - I emailed them to see how to check the status of my order and was informed by customer service at Lowes that it had been cancelled due to a "system glitch that cancelled several orders" and that I would have to re-order.
I called today to tell them that I didn't have time to re-order because I would not receive my order in time for my planned trip this coming weekend.
I suggested she re-instate my order and ship it FedEx since it was Lowes' error - not mine. She said she couldn't do that and I will say she was not the least interested in helping me - only in getting through the phone call so she could get back to whatever else she was doing. I would fire her on the spot at my company.
I cannot begin to tell you how disgusted I am with the horrible service I received in this matter.
My weekend is ruined, not only for me but for my guests. I will remember Lowes and the way I was treated in this matter - and I will let my friends and family know as well. Avoid Lowes online. And shop Home Depot if it is available in your community.
In summary - Lowes screwed up, not me. They should have shipped my order as it was placed. After they screwed up, they compounded the error by refusing to help.
I want to pass this on to management so that they can see what their online customers think of Lowes.
I will also try to send this via another contact to management since customer service will not likely send it in order to cover their rear ends. This is NOT how you cultivate a loyal customer base.
I would give ZERO stars, but that was not an option."
"I had liked Lowes for years until I had this problem. My washer and dryer were never installed right. The washer would go crazy and come to find out they never balanced it. That damaged something inside from all the shaking. The warranty won't cover it because of the improper installation which I paid for professional service. I still never got my rebate and Lowes won't help. Now the manufacturer wants me to pay for the repair on a two week old purchase. The manager at Lowes was rude and said I should have bought the Lowes warranty so I wouldn't have to deal with the company that made the washer. Are you kidding me? It's two weeks old and I paid them extra to install it. Now that I want to return it they won't take it back. Keep away from Lowes, they have terrible service unless you buy their extra warranty."
"Lowe's sucks. If you have other chance, dont choose Lowe's. Poor customer services. I bought a washer from them 1 month ago and it broke. I scheduled a technical service 2 times. The first time, the technician didnt show off. The second time, I was told that the schedule was for Thursday because I was only available for that day. But when I checked back, the schedule is for Friday. The customer service guy lie to me. And I guess that is their rule. "
"Everytime I'm there I find what I need, and everyone's always extremley helpful! LOVE the gardening section! Good job Lowes"
"I ordered some christmas lights on lowes.com, the web site said they have them in stock, I placed the order and it said I can pick it up in 20 min. 10 minutes after that I received a call from the store saying they don't have it in stock."
"The most atrocious customer service I have EVER experienced! Every associate I spoke with was completely rude. I had placed on online order, so I decided to just pick it up and never come back again.
To top it all off, as I walked through the back entrance near the lumber section, a female associate (?5'6" Latina, Brunette, no glasses; working the lumber section's register @ 4:30PM~5:30PM TUE 12/04/2012) stopped me and asked if I had picked-up my order (a Kreg Pocket-Hole Jig) from the front desk. I said "yes, why?" She took the jig from me and picked up a phone and directly called and questioned VERY RUDELY while in my face if someone had picked-up the order from the front desk. When verified, she didn't apologize or say ANYTHING, she dropped the jig back onto the counter and went back to doing nothing and pretending I wasn't there. And no, I did not dress or look shady, I just came from work in fact, and did nothing to merit the treatment (I'm Asian, so you can't even pull the discrimination card).
Thanks to this experience, I will make sure to never, EVER return to ANY Lowe's location ever again, and I will advise every single friend, relative, and business associate to avoid all Lowe's stores. A company that will hire and retain employees like these obviously does not care about their customer service at all, and deserves no business from anyone with any dignity."
"I shop online frequently and Lowes.com is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. I've shopped in store frequently, and after my experience dealing with them online I will NEVER shop at Lowes again, online or in store.
I ordered a large clock, it was damaged in transit and sent back to the shipper. They never notified me. I had to call them after a couple days to find out what happened, at which time I was told by the store it was shipped from the clock was damaged, they had no others in inventory, would never have any more, and they were going to refund me.
After 3 calls to customer care I learned otherwise, they located another clock in a local store, but they couldn't send it to me without me having to buy it a 2nd time, since it was now coming from another store.. So I paid for the item they damaged twice, had to pick it up myself, and they said they would refund the first.
After another 4 days I was still not refunded, I emailed customer care.. No response. I called and was told they refunded it to my discover card. I told them I don't have a discover card, so they had to look into it and get back to me. They did not get back to me. It took another email (not answered) and 3 more phone calls before someone finally was able to tell me the card I purchased it on and claim they have NOW refunded it. I am yet to see that refund, and am not holding my breath.
Through all of this, with 2 unanswered emails to customer care, and 6 phone calls (all initiated by me, because they will never call you) not once has anyone felt an apology was necessary. "
"HORRIBLE and FRUSTRATING experiences with Lowe's online ordering. Placed 5 orders online. For the first one, I made a mistake and called online ordering immediately. They cancelled the error order and placed the order for me. A few weeks later I checked cuz the order had not arrived. It had been cancelled, no one could explain why. I purchased a different product in the store because my contractor could not wait any longer. I placed another order later for 3 lights and 1 mailbox. The mailbox arrived but the lights did not. Waited two weeks, called the store. They could not locate the order. Called online and the order had been cancelled. Again no reason why. Very frustrating experience. Computer systems are also always having malfunctions so research on questions is time consuming. VERY COURTEOUS persons on line and at the store. I think their computer system must be really poor because that seems to be the root of the problems."
"At Lowes, if its out the door and Lowes has your money that's the end of it. They sell generally cheaper merchandise and not NOT warranty anything they sell. I rate this retailer as low as it gets. If you buy here you deserve what you get. Patronize at your own risk. Now you know what the LOW means in 'Lowes'. A new low for customer service. Buy Chinese."
"Save yourself a headache and avoid ordering from Lowe's online store. I recently ordered several light fixtures through their website. Part of the order was shipped as expected, but the other part required 3 calls to customer service and a 5 week wait. Apparently the item was back-ordered but nobody bothered to inform me. A second order resulted in an almost identical experience. I guess my main beef is that their order status communication is so lousy. If somethings back-ordered at least send me a robo email! I like shopping at their brick & mortar store but I'll not be using their online store again."
"I bought some rope lights from Lowe's. They burnt out within 2 minutes of plugging them in. Just light 9 of the 12 previous reviews, but I should have known better than to buy them. I posted a polite negative review. Lowe's not only rejected my review. They deleted my account. I could not even log in to their website. Now have to create a new account if I want to try and write a nicer negative review."
"A good buying experience at Lowe's.
Wanted a Bosch dishwasher.
Lowe's had the 3 models that all my online research had narrowed it down to.
Picked one.
The sales clerk was friendly (not knowledgeable) and the buying process was easy.
Price was the lowest that I could find."
