"Lowes in Brunswick, GA is the worst. We ordered a dishwasher online. You can't schedule installation online and when we called the store they said we had to come into the store to schedule installation. We drove to Brunswick on Saturday and the installation department was closed. They called today & said the dishwasher is in and they could deliver it this Saturday, Sunday or Monday. We chose Saturday. When we called back (no name or phone number left on our voice mail), the man said "oh we can deliver it Saturday, but can't install it untill next week." Why would you want delivery of a dishwasher prior to installation. Stupid. We called the store manager and she said that she had no control over installation. They are rude."

"Of all online stores on the net this is by far the worst. After placing the order I got a confirmation email that stated the item would arrive on 6/23/12. It gave not information as to how or when it would ship. It stated only that I could call customer care to find out the status of the order. I was initially surprised by that because most e-commerce store like Home Depot, Amazon and eBay have great tracking and order follow up. But I was not too worried and I waited for the package. It never came. I contacted customer service via email as their hours are narrow. I waited a few days and emailed again. Finally 4 days later I was told that the item was back ordered until 7/30/12. I was never notified this is true. When I called to cancel the order I was told that I could have called the store to check status or checked on the website using the order number. No where in the email did it tell me either ways to check status or what store it would ship from. I asked the support person why I was not notified and they said the info was available on the website. So she talked me through how to look up the status. It stated that it would arrive at my house on 7/8/12 not 7/30/12 as I had just been told via email I asked about the discrepancy and she said that the 30th must be the newest info. This has been the worst experience I have had. The unit I ordered was a front porch light. All this time since I placed the order I have been without a porch light. Avoid buying anything from Lowes.com"

"The online site uses the same item number for multiple items, ensuring ordering confusion. Items are listed in random sections, with wrong descriptions, incomplete descriptions, hideously misspelled descriptions, photos of other items, and sometimes no descriptions at all. It also lists things in stock that aren't, and also does not list items that are in the store at all. Items randomly disappear and reappear, and the people supposedly maintaining the product information on the site don’t know the difference between a drill bit and a hammer (or at least it looks like that is so). Meanwhile the people who set the prices are sitting on Home Depot’s site to make sure they can set prices to the exact penny of their supposed competitor.

In the stores, the employees try to convince you to buy other items than the ones you want (even when what you want may cost more). Very few of the employees at any Lowe's I have been to have any idea about anything in the store - and we are talking basics like a person at the window and door desk not knowing what a threshold is (they thought a threshold was a deadbolt), or one of the employees in the wiring stating they can't find the wire I want cut in their own display (I had to find it myself) and then standing on the piece of wire that the other employee is trying to cut for me. The cashiers randomly walk away from the registers to talk to other employees, talk on their cell phones, and to stand with other employees at other registers – and then they make you get out of line and walk back to the register they were supposed to be at. The employees also allow people to return items not sold at Lowe’s, return used items like opened (and expired) roof coatings and paints (with part of the contents dribbled down the sides), return lumber that has pieces cut off, return pieces of electrical wire, return used tools (no you really shouldn’t be allowed to return tools like saws and chisels that have been used if they don’t have any defects) etc. They also don’t bother to inventory the items when they arrive, and the people responsible for inventory don’t actually check to see if the items they are counting are actually the items that are supposed to be there. Employees that are supposed to know how to operate a forklift run into shelving and products. Other employees tear up the products they are supposed to be stocking. Meanwhile music blares over the ceiling speakers.

Finally, we have the Lowe’s corporate mentality that appears to be “if it’s not for sale at Home Depot it won’t be sold here either.” The whole point of having different stores is to find different products. As it is, Lowe’s and Home Depot could merge some of their stores together and it wouldn’t be noticeable to me for a long time. There is also the mentality of every Lowe’s must be a different layout, and every product must go where it looks prettiest, resulting in a hunt throughout the store because you can’t expect all the electrical tools and parts to actually be in electrical, for example, and gee, you mean the trash bags shouldn’t be in the paint section?

Home Depot is not any better.

This is an overall review for my many visits over the past few years.

"Got mailer Lowes sent this past week. Included a discount card saying in large print on the front "$20 off your next $100 purchase". My wife and I spent a couple hours today (6/3) buying plants, yard items, etc., much shopping, many items, about $190. At the register, the discount card kept ringing up as invalid. Cashier tried multiple times (while we and others waited). Finally, she read - in the small print on the back - that it doesn't begin until 6/4. Not her fault. But cheesy beyond comprehension. "$20 off your next purchase"?!
Moral of the story?: For anyone shopping at Lowes again, read the fine print?!
Count me out.

"I've purchased a couple of things online from Lowe's just to get a special discount available at the time and my transactions went perfectly. Normally all my purchases are through the local store because I get a 10% military discount. I do generally prefer to shop at my local Home Depot simply because it's been there longer and I know the layout of the store better. The staff at my nearest Lowe's store is just as friendly. My brother shops exclusively at Lowe's because he likes the Kobalt brand. Either way I think it's good to have two choices for home improvement in the same areas for better selection and to keep prices competitive."

"This Lowes is TERRIBLE when it comes to online ordering! Less than a year ago not too long after they opened I had a similar bad experience with stock levels inaccurately reported by the store. It happened again so I'm documenting it to WARN PEOPLE to stay away. We live about an hour away near Jasper (and Home Depot). I wanted something in particular that couldn't be shipped so I ordered online. After trying to order TWICE online with error I called lowes.com. The guy entered my order and assured me 7 were in stock. I drive all the way to the store just to be told that they were out of stock! Come back on Friday.

Lowes.com obviously has technology problems and this store doesn't do a good job of keeping track of inventory (so be warned if you call the store to inquire as their computer number may be wrong and you'll waste a trip). If you try it - be sure someone goes to actually see the product on the shelf.

"Lowe's is the best. The employees are friendly and nice. I had window's installed by Lowe's of Auburn Ny and the experience was great. From the first guy who came to my house and spent the time to show me the windows, He even gave me the price right there before he left. Low pressure easy going very knowledgeable person. The windows showed up on time, The installer was professorial and the windows were installed that day. I will choose Lowe's again. I love my windows they work great and have saved me $$$$ in heating bills."

"Visiting my local Lowe's store is always an adventure. If my wife is with me we get all types of help. If its just me, its like the entire staff disappears. You have to go find someone, its not their department, they will get someone to help me. They never show up. Thank goodness I have some sort of knowledge of home improvement. A novice is out of luck. Oh and heaven forbid you need someone to help you load something. "

"Delivery No show at Amherst, NH Lowe's Took a half day off from work to have a washer and dryer delivered. My window was noon to 4. Drivers never showed and didn't call. I called the delivery line and they said that they couldn't contact the drivers and just keep waiting. LOL I brought my receipt back to the store got my refund and closed my Lowe's credit card account. Never again Lowe's."

"We bought 3 window shades at lowes.com. Price and product are excellent. Only snag was the 20 minute guarantee. We didn't get the product for 2 weeks but they made it up to us by giving us a gift card."

"We purchased two appliances from Lowe's in Tonawanda, NY--we received some of the best service in all my 50 years of shopping experience--they were informational--courteous--and the delivery men were top notch--installation was great---can't understand what you all are griping about--really have never had a bad experience shopping with Lowe's since they came to our town--too bad you can't be shopping in our Tonawanda, NY store"

"Lowes has the worst customer service ever. I made a $3400 purchase in 08 and a $2000 purchase in 2010. Both products are defective and have needed numerous repairs. The washer a Whirlpool Duet Steam is broke again and the cost to repair is $1300!!!! You would think they would want to keep a customer like myself but I have yet to hear from them on this issue."

"Really Hoirrible Customer Service!!!!!
Purchased a Water from them. Returned it and had supposedly had my Debit Charges returned. Purchased a Water Heater from different company. Checked my account and found that my account had not been recredited. Whet to Lowe's to check on it and was told that it could take up to 14 days before I see the money back in my account. When I purchased the Heater, my account was credited instantly, so why wasn't my refund credited instantly?
I am done dealing with Lowe's, I'll spend the extra money on gas to go some place else before I set foot in another Lowe's Store.

"On my last two or three visits to the midtown Lowes Home Improvement store in midtown, Tulsa, Oklahoma, they only have oen or two checkout lines running, so it might take 10 minutes just to check-out. yesterday, I dropped my mechanise on the floor, after waiting ten minutes in line. This particular store is very poorly managed. one would think in these tough times, Lowes could get it's act together."
