"Product arrived in a timely manner with all parts right where they should be. This is the second time I have used MagicMicro for a Bare Bones PC and they did not disappoint. Will probably use them in future a they have been very reliable."

"Having bought my previous computer from MagicMicro with a good experience, I used them as my first choice when I started my shopping this time around. My previous computer though almost four years old it still runs quite well, but it just wasn't fast enough anymore.

As an avid consumer and a salesperson, I did my due diligence and shopped around at pretty much every reputable custom computer store online and could not find a better deal. So I started trying to put together the best build for my needs, researching potential components, and tossing ideas back and forth. Ultimately I decided on my build, with a few potential revisions in mind knowing that from my previous order I would have a chance to go over my build with the person who would build it. So I pulled the trigger and ordered my computer (and the intense anticipation began).

I ordered my computer over the weekend and as such had some time to do more research so that come that Monday I would be able to have some decent questions about my build choice with the tech. Not wanting to wait (mainly because I decided for sure to upgrade my case), I called them first thing to chat with my builder. I made the changes in the build, but also asked him for my 3770k would the Asus Maximus IV Extreme P67 be a good card for my build or would I be better with a P68 chipset board. That turned out to be not very accurate. Don't get me wrong my computer screams, but I can't overclock my cpu with this board. I spent numerous hours baffled as to why it wasn't taking the oc, only to return to more research and ultimately the dreadful news.

Overall it was a good experience again this time around, the tower looks amazing, its icy cool, its much faster than my previous computer, it was the most inexpensive build that I could accomplish without having to build it myself, and they were very easy to deal with just like last time. While I do fault the tech for not letting me know that I couldn't oc the 3770k on a P67 board, I accept partial blame since I didn't find that in my research. This is rather problematic however since currently I am blocked from optimizing my computers potential...to complicate matters more I had an OEM version of Windows 7 set aside for this computer which is currently installed and validated. I am left with the dilemma of leaving my motherboard in and never being able to utilize the full potential of this computer, or buying a P68/Z77 board and then having to purchase another copy of Windows. The only negatives that I can fully apply to MagicMicro in regards to this purchase are that the cable management could be better especially considering the Cooler Master HAF X case is designed to hide cables quite effectively, something I was counting on since I went with a non modular power supply. Also I knew from last time that the ram they use is just generic ram, so I went into the purchase in mind of replacing it shortly after purchase and just keeping them as backups. All in all I spent $1500 and added in another $500 in parts I had on hand and $100 for a copy of Windows for this computer. Its fast, games very well, stays chilly, and does what I wanted it to. I am quite disappointed about the board, but I won't bash a survey for it. I would just suggest for anyone reading this make sure you do more research than I did...though a minor detail, it did cost me hours of frustration and a need for a new board.

"Poor, computer blue screens and customer support rarely helps"

Rep reply posted 2012-06-04
A rep from MagicMicro, MaxPikovskiy, has responded:

“Dear Customer

We apologize for any inconvenience

Unfortunately our tech support was unable to resolve problem remotely because of the possible internal shipping damage

We are currently in process of replacing damage system with new one

UPS should puck up damaged system later today and new system will be shipped out shortly

Thank you
Magic Micro Customer Service”

"Very good. Excellent communication and assistance in choosing a configuration that would meet my needs well, although a motherboard had to be substituted and cost a bit more than expected. I was surprised that drivers had not been loaded, but I ordered the machine without an OS.

Would certainly recommend. Great three-year tech support offer!

"I have almost nothing but good things to say about Magicmicro. There web site allows you to build a custom PC and for the novice that's really nice to know that you really can't make a mistake because the web site will only match up the correct parts, taking the research and guess work out of building a computer. The only thing I though was interesting was when I got the computer the DVD drive was not plugged in. Human error which is COOL! Besides that wonderful customer service and very friendly! Will buy from you guys and gals again!"

"MagicMicro's website was a lot of fun. I spent several weeks configuring my "dream machine" using thier very large selection of options and computer components. The last option was what kind of case would take advantage of all the features I wanted. Antec was my choice and I placed my order. MagicMicro called within hours about a problem with my credit card. (I didn't realize it had a $1500.00 daily limit.) Called the bank, raised my limit, and completed the order while MagicMicro was still on the other line. Before hanging up I asked if it could be held until Wednesday to be shipped. The lady asked if I might like to have a Saturday delivery. That was perfect! It arrived on Friday - I would have missed it if I had not checked the website Friday morning.
After receipt, plugged it in and everything seemed to be exactly what I ordered. Then I discovered there was no front panel IEEE port installed even though that was one of the main reasons I ordered the Antec case. Also the two front panel USB ports did not function - again a reason for the Antec case. I was a lead configuration tech for MicroWarehouse before they were bought out by CDW, so I felt comfortable opening it up to see if something was unplugged. The wiring was atrocious and it looked like it was just mangled inside. The side window had a large scratch. As it turned out, the connector for the USB ports wasn't compatible with the motherboard connector and there wasn't even an attempt to hook up the IEEE-1394.
You'd think that I would have received a call about the front panel hookups but thier tech just decided to wind up the cable inside and I guess they determined that I didn't need the front panel features. After all, they called me immediately about the credit card.
I love the computer but I would have liked everything I paid for to be functional.

Update: 5/16/12 - I was contacted both by phone and e-mail to try to resolve my issues with my front panel ports. I am finding out that their customer service is a lot better than some of the posts I've seen here. The initial problem was that Antec changed the case but didn't change the model number, so I received a newer case but with compatibility issues. MagicMicro is going out of their way to try to make me happy. I'll update this review once everything is 'hunkie-dorie."

Final Update: 5/25/2012 - Last night, I installed the parts that MagicMicro sent to get this computer up to the specs I wanted. It took about 20 minutes and everything works perfectly. The original issue was my that new system didn't have the 2 USB 2.0 ports and the firewire port that I was expecting. With the new parts that were provided to resolve the issue, no charge, I now have 5-USB2.0, 2-USB3.0, 2-firewire ports, and 1-SATA port on the front panel. I couldn't ask for better response from any customer service! Thanks Max. I highly recommend MagicMicro and I WILL purchase from them again - maybe my next laptop. P.S. My computer can beat your computer!

"Ordered a custom PC on Monday and it was delivered the following Saturday. I could not be happier with the PC or MagicMicro. The PC came exactly as ordered and was neatly assembled. Before ordering my PC I priced out all the parts and it was actually cheaper having MagicMicro do the build than it would have been for me to build it. I also called and emailed customer service with questions before I ordered and my questions were promptly answered."

"I was quite pleased with the product I received which worked fine and is superbly built. Apart from me having to access the BIOS to enable the sound card, the only other problem was although there were 4 extra data leads with the package you sent, there were no extra power leads included to enable me to add further drives in the future. Could you please forward these?

Thank you.

"Recently, I received a computer that I had ordered from MagicMicro. I opened the computer up to check the assembly and how well they had done so. My motherboard is the ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 Z68 and my hard drive is an SSD. My hard drive supports 6 gb/s with a SATA 3 connection. However, when I opened up the computer, I found that they had used a SATA 2 cable and hooked it up to SATA 2 port on the motherboard. Also, when I checked CMOS setup, they didn't even open the SATA 3 port. It was disabled. I read online that after assembling my computer, they would test it. However, the SATA connections were wrong and CMOS setup wasn't changed accordingly. Also, on the motherboard, the screw that is used to hold it into the computer was missing. I have over 20 years of experience as a computer technician so I was able to fix it myself. I personally had to buy the SATA 3 cable at Fry's Electronics for eight dollars. Whoever assembles and tests these computers needs to focus and concentrate on their work."
