"MagicMicro is an awesome barbone computer seller. My fire dept. wanted to buy a new computer and told me all the specs they wanted on the computer and I went to MagicMicro and they had everything I needed for this computer system...They have great customer support when problem are needed to be taken care of and there really fast and reliable.I hope to do some more buisness with micromagic soon. Thanks alot"
"Everything went flawless. Competitive prices and a very flexible configurator so I was able to "build" my desktop system in no time.
Delivery was as promised and the system is running great. Overall, it was a positive experience and would recommend the store for similar purchases. "
"Unfortunately, I could not give zero checks. Magic Micro may be fine if you are totally inexperienced and would rather buy a chosen component system instead of something pre-packaged at Best Buy. Considering the number of "delighted" customers, this must be the case. If, however, you are intending to build something sophisticated you should look elsewhere.
I ordered a Phenom II microATA system based on an Apeiva case to include a 500GB HDD and 4GB RAM (they did not ship the HDD I had specified). The system arrived very nicely packaged. Beneath the glitter things were not so nice. The Apevia case has a slide out motherboard tray, which needs to be slid out even for simple things like adding an expansion PCI/PCIe card. Unfortunately, the cabling, while pretty, didn't allow the sliding of the tray. I, therefore, had to disconnect all connectors from the motherboard and re-route all of the cables so the tray would function as intended.
This was only the first sign of incompetence on the part of Magic Micro. When I ordered the system I made it perfectly clear to the person I was speaking with that I had intended to overclock the processor and that I needed the best cooler that they had. The cooler they furnished could not keep the CPU under the AMD spec, even at the default clock rate. Repeated calls to Magic Miro continued to reveal the absurd incompetence of many of the staff in dealing with issues outside of what one might expect from a total novice customer (who, I assume, could be easily distracted by bulls**t).
When I told them that I was not satisfied with the product and wanted to take advantage of the "30-day money back guarantee" they informed me that the system would be extensively evaluated for damage from my trying to overclock it (whichg I never really got around to because I couldn't get it to spec out at the default clock rate). Then, more than 2 weeks after they had received the returned item, I called to ask for the disposition of the RMA and was told that the "only person that could authorize the RMA was on vacation, had been for a while, and would return the following Monday". I called on Wed and was told that the RMA had been approved but that their shipping expenses would be deducted. They then proceeded to deduct over $40 from my refund even though when I sent the system back to them via FedEx it cost me less than $20 including $600 of insurance. Since they delayed in even sending the partial refund for a long time, I issued a charge back with my credit card company who also informed me that they could not withhold the shipping charge if I had to fund the return shipment to them.
So, if you want to buy a reasonably inexpensive computer that is pre-built, Magic Micro may be just what you need. If you know anything about computers you should look elsewhere. Their business practices are deceptive and their technical staff borders on total incompetence.
Zero checks from me, in treality

"I received my computer yesterday and it looked great and was packaged well. The graphics card I ordered was a radeon 5850 and was surprised and happy to find that it was a saphire built. The wiring was neat and the HAF-922 case is awe-inspiring. So I was excited to fire it up I opened the case to find that the video card wasnt fastened properly at the rear of the case and was probably bouncing around during shipping. I connected my monitor and strated the computer. After a few moments it displayed that windows 7 was updating, then the screen went to all vertical white lines and flashed that for a few seconds, the screen kept twitching and bouncing around, then went to blue screen. I restarted it a few times and checked connectors and everything seemed ok.
I called but they were closed. I hope to hear back from them soon and will update this post as soon as the situation is resolved. I have great hopes that this situation will be resolved quickly and easily......to be continued.....Spoke with cust service moments ago. Super nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Already have a solution in the works......to be continued.........Magic micro helped me do a bit of troubleshooting and after inserting my old Nvidia graphics card it was discovered that the video card I got was defective. So the told me they would send me another one and pay for me to ship the defective one back.Meanwhile I had to format my hard drive and reinstall windows 7. A week went by and no card so I called and they were again very nice. They told me that the paperwork to my order was misplaced and that the item didnt ship, I understood because the tech I was working with had to go suddenly right after the troubleshooting for an appt. The Cust Serv rep told me she would send it out right away however not overnight. I got the card a couple days later, Installed it and downloaded the drivers. I am getting some horizontal lines on the screen when I move the mouse to the very left edge of the screen and when playing Unreal 3 I get a horizontal miscolored bar about 20% of the height of the screen in the middle of the monitor.
I am going to look into another driver update and see if that fixed the problem, but none of the issues that i faced were a direct result of magic micro. I got a GREAT PRICE, GREAT PRODUCT, and they have VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE and I am overall VERY HAPPY with the results of the troubleshooting. I UPS'd the defective card back to them today and hope I can start creating games without much trouble, and YESSS i would buy from Magic Micro again! They are Excellent. "
"Fast shipping. Professional packaging. Good customer services.
Absolutely will buy again whenever I need a new computer.
Keep with the good work guys!"
"I was a first time bare-bones shopper (online at-least) and I came across the Magic Micro site and looked through the ratings reviews and such. I ordered a fully loaded AMD cube PC with expensive parts and components including Blu ray, massive memory, graphics card and windows 7. The computer arrived 4 days later in perfectly operating condition. It worked right out of the box and even the installation of Windows 7 they did was very clean. None of the extra garbage that comes with the OS was installed and it left the PC very fast and efficient. It has been close to a month now and the only complaint I can currently think of is that the LCD temperature gauge reads in Celsius and not Fahrenheit which by itself is in no way a big, or even minor, inconvenience. When I looked through the unit I found all the wiring secure and well spaced to make for maximum airflow. The price I paid with the high end PC I got was incredibly low. This and the fact that everything is working just perfectly without any real problems has convinced me to look at Magic Micro in the future. The only other oddity that I could mention is that I did not get the Blu Ray drive that I ordered (the Lite On), but instead got the slightly more expensive player (the LG) without any extra charge and I assume this was because the Lite On was out of stock. I certainly cannot complain. I did make a mistake with my order and got a sound card I did not really need instead of the graphics card I would have preferred, but that is my mistake not theirs. All in all this has been a good shopping experience and so far a great user experience with the product I purchased. I know earlier reviews on this site were bad, but for the most part they seem to have happened awhile ago and I myself have had nothing, but good times with this company. Definitely worth the research and purchase."
"Over the years I have purchased numerous items online, but have never felt the urge to write a review. Magic Micro is different.
I had been researching Core i7 systems for several months, and had been leaning towards MM. On a Monday before what was to be a working holiday weekend, my 5 year old primary workstation died. I called Magic Micro and explained the situation. Although they indicated they could not guarantee delivery before Thursday (the actual holiday), they would make every effort to meet my needs. Truly incredibly, the system arrived complete the next day. The cost for their facilitated processing was nominal, and much more reasonable than the charge by the shipper for overnight delivery.
Although pleased, I was a little leery: rushed processing might imply cut corners. I opened the system and found that everything was installed and configured exactly as ordered. I closed things up, installed the OS and everything functioned beautifully (and in plenty of time for my working weekend.) It has now been in operation continuously for 6 months, with absolutely no problems.
I should also mention that, although I had a good idea of the components I wanted, the person from whom I ordered the system was knowlegeable about the specifications, availability, and implications of each of the items. In addition to suggesting a couple of performance upgrades, he did not hesitate to suggest downgrades when appropriate (which more than covered the cost of the facilitated processing).
In summary, I was amazed at the performance and value offered by this company. Besides the extraordinary service, I estimate I saved $400 to $600 over a comparable name-brand computer. So long as they continue like this, Magic Micro is my sole computer supplier.
"
"Got a cooling fan from them. Arrived quickly and well packaged. "
"Purchased a desktop from MM over a year ago, but the machine intermittent problems since the beginning. However MM tech support was great in trying to help resolve the problem and worked with me to find a solution. Great customer service - I highly recommend."
"I actually haven't received my bare-bones unit yet, but I would like to thank this company for the great customer service and tech support.
I had done some research of the mother-board and case I had bought after I had order and was worried about a factor of size. I decided to call to MM and ended up leaving a message. With in a short period of time I received a call form the MM tech support regarding my issue. They answered all my questions and i actually got of the phone with no worries about my order. Now I'm just eager to get my order. I just wish time would past by a lot faster.
Thanks again and I recommend this company to everyone. "
"
I live in a rural area and do most of my shopping online. Since I bought my PC from you last April, I have had several occasions to contact Magic Micro with questions and issues. In every case, MM has been responsive, effective, friendly and patient. This is very different from the typical, frustrating experience of making a phone call and being transferred to one person after another who is not competent to resolve the issue, long delays in waiting for return phone calls or receiving opaque emails from people who have completely misunderstood the issue, and then finally reaching an impatient , irritable tech support person and ending up with no satisfactory resolution. Every time I have contacted MM, I have talked to people who were really helpful and either able to resolve the issue or immediately put me in contact with someone who can. This last email exchange is just another example, in which the immediate response to my query provided exactly what I asked for with no song and dance, there was no need for repeated nagging and no wasting time with irrelevant answers. Normally, when facing the prospect of contacting a merchant, I prepare myself mentally for an unpleasant struggle that may drag out for a week or longer. I think of you guys as friends.

"Dear magic-micro,
I am once again amazed by the support and service from Magic Micro Computers.
I've had my computer going on 3 years now and you have stood by me every step of the way. Even when the problem was my own fault.
I can't imagine buying a computer anywhere else. Thanks especially to Steve in Tech Support.
I am whole again!!

"This is absolutely the worst company I have ever had to deal with in my entire life. From day one I have had problems with my computer. The customer support and technical service teams are very rude and difficult to deal with. I have sent my computer back twice already and each time they failed to fix it. I'm not even sure they did anything at all the first time, I believe they just held onto it for 2 months and then shipped it back. They say they offer a three year warranty, but it really only covers one year and you have to pay to have anything fixed after a year. I think their customer service model works like this:
Step 1: Frustrate the customer over the telephone until the customer hangs up and hopefully the customer will not call back.
Step 2: If the customer insists on you honoring the warranty, agree to take the computer back but make sure the customer pays shipping both ways.
Step 3: Hold the computer for 2 months each time the customer sends it, ensuring they will no longer want to deal with you at all.
Step 4: Send the computer back in the exact same condition in which it was shipped to you. Hope the customer is not willing to pay round trip shipping a third time and just gives up and buys a new computer.
Never, ever buy a computer from these people. I believe some of the positive reviews were written by the company itself. Even if some of the positive reviews are real, take a look at all the horrible reviews. Do you really want to take a chance that you will have one of those experiences? Find another company, anyone will be better than this.
Update:
After reading the response by Magic Micro, I thought I should add an update to my review. First of all, my first contact with customer support was not after five months, it was within a week of receiving the computer. I was told to try various fixes for the problems I was having, none of which worked. These all took quite a while, as I do not have hours of free time everyday to devote to troubleshooting a brand new computer which should have been working. When I informed them that I wanted a refund for my computer, they said this was not possible because it had already been more than 30 days. I informed them that I was having the same problem I had been having from the beginning and they responded saying they had no record of me calling within the first 30 days. This was a complete fabrication, the sole purpose of which was to avoid having to refund my purchase.
They are also lying about the time that the computer spent at their company. I remember sending the computer of two days after I was given the RMA and checking the delivery status on ups.com. I even called the company to ask what they were doing for so long with my computer. It was in their possession for about one month the first time I sent it back. They did not ask for the Windows CD or the Product key, which I had in my possession.
The second time I returned the computer, they did ask for the Windows CD and Product key, which I provided and asked them to install to make sure the computer was working. They called me on the day they were going to ship it back and had not tested it with the operating system. I asked them again to install it to make sure the computer was working. They installed the operating system with a genuine CD which I provided and sent the computer back still not working. So they obviously have no problem telling me lies or posting lies on this website because they had the CD in their possession and it was a genuine copy that I bought, not a pirated version.
They are also lying when they say I tried to install the same operating system three times. I tried to install three different operating systems; windows xp, windows xp 64-bit, and ubuntu, all genuine copies. All three crashed repeatedly and had various similar problems. I did post the original review 2 hours after receiving the computer, which was plenty of time to install one operating system and see that it was having the same problems as usual. Notice in the original review I did not state that I had tried installing all three operating systems before posting the review. After writing the review, I tried installing the other two operating systems, which I had plenty of time to do before I talked to them the next day.
This company has consistently lied and misrepresented the truth. They say I was belligerent on the phone, but that was only after hours of being talked to very rudely and having to call back again and again for the same problems. You would be angry too if you were being lied to and belittled over and over again. Notice how many bad reviews have been posted on here. The company responds to all of the bad reviews trying to make themselves look better by falsifying information and distorting the facts. Do you even want to take the chance that you will have an experience similar to one of the bad experiences? It is not worth it. Find another company, these people should not be in business."

My computer purchase is to replace my six year old desktop which recently had its motherboard fry. I decided to go with MagicMicro because of their low prices and the ability to customize every aspect of the barebone system I am purchasing. Their online customization system is very very nice and was a major factor in me decided to go with MagicMicro.
That being said however, I have some issues with their website. Upon placing my order I never received an email confirmation. I did however have a STMP mailer error display above my order confirmation page. Early in the week (Monday or Tuesday) MagicMicro's website went down, so I believe this was not an error on their part and instead was with their sever. Upon seeing that the website was down I emailed sales@magicmicro to inquire about the status of my order. I received an email within 24 hours informing me that my order was in their assembly lab, and would be shipped that Friday. Friday and the weekend past, but I did not receive any notification that my order had been shipped. So that Monday (the 6th business days since I placed my order) I called and was informed that my order will be shipped out in the afternoon.
After writing this review, MagicMicro responded informing me that their ISP was at fault for the website failure, and that delayed my order by 1 day. I do not blame MagicMicro for this.
Like Magicmicro told me on the phone, my order was shipped out Monday, and was delivered on Wednesday. The computer was shipped safey, and looked perfect when I opened to box. The case even included a 120mm fan in the front, which I was unaware I would receive. I plugged in all the cables and turned the computer on, and it booted up perfectly. I had no problems at all with the computer and had it up and running with Windows 7 in under 2 hours.
I would highly recommend MagicMicro. "
"I had a problem and they straightened it out...

A rep from MagicMicro, MaxPikovskiy, has responded:
“This computer system was purchased over a year ago - in September 2008. It was purchased without an operating system because the customer wanted to install his own. After using the system for over five months, customer contacted our support department with a complaint that the computer “never worked from day one”. After the customer described the issues he was experiencing, it became very obvious that they were caused by registry errors in Windows and the operating system needed to be reinstalled. Unfortunately, the customer became belligerent during the phone conversation and refused to believe that his problems were caused by issues with the operating system. He insisted on sending his computer back to us for repair.
Magic Micro issued a Return Authorization number on February 2, 2009.
The computer did not arrive to our facility until March 4, 2009, over
a month after the original telephone conversation. After testing the
computer, we detected no hardware problems. We did, however, find numerous software issues caused by Windows registry errors and improper installation of drivers. Even though software issues are not covered under our warranty when the operating system is not purchased and installed by us, we attempted to fix the registry and driver issues, but were unable to do so because the customer could not provide the original Windows CD and product keys needed for the repair. The computer was at our facility for less than a week and then promptly returned to customer at our expense.
Customer contacted our technical support again on November 2, 2009 with the same complaint that system “never worked from day one”.
Because the computer was more than 1 year old at this point, we advised the customer that he would be responsible for a very reasonable $25 return shipping charge and he agreed. We once again issued a Return Authorization. The computer arrived to us on December 3, 2009, again over a month after the telephone conversation. Yet again, we found no hardware issues. Out of customer courtesy we agreed to replace all of the major components in the computer, but advised customer that it will take some time to order the same replacement components due to computer’s age. Components were replaced and the system was promptly returned back to the customer again.
It was only 2 hours after receipt of the computer when the customer posted this review on resellerratings.com. We were very surprised that he did not try to contact us first. Our tech support staff contacted him again and explained that all of the major components were replaced and that the problems he was experiencing were still caused by issues with the operating system. Customer’s response was that he already reloaded the operating system 3 times since receiving the computer back, which would have been impossible to do in less than
2 hours since receiving the computer from us while also writing this review posting at the same time (see UPS delivery time at UPS .com for tracking number 1Z0889XX4253673743).
In order to try to keep the customer satisfied, we went out of our way and even offered to bring the computer back to us at our cost to reload the operating system if he could supply the original Windows CD and product keys, but the customer refused. It appears that the customer does not possess the original Windows CD and product keys, which could mean that he owns a pirated copy of Windows that is corrupted. It seems that the only problem this customer had with our computer is that he had to pay a $25 return shipping fee and waited just enough to receive the computer from us so he can post this review.
We always stay behind our warranty and in this situation we went above and beyond to keep the customer satisfied. As a result, the customer received a completely rebuilt computer after 1 year of use and it only cost him $25, which continues to complain about.
