"I ordered a 2 watches and 2 rings from the site. After ordering the wrong size, I went to chat online with their live customer service. I wanted to return one of the rings, so he just gave me a link to the return label, placed it on the package, and shoved it in the mail to be shipped off the next morning. The only downside to that was that the restocking fee was about $7 which I think is enormous considering the product was ~$21. So my first order from Overstock.com was very satisfying.
A week after I bought another watch for a friend of mine, which I ordered late Sunday night with 2 day shipping. The package came on Wednesday, and I was very satisfied. "
"Ordered a CD. First one I got was broken. Took so long to get a return shipping label. Had to contact them twice to get the prepaid label. Then took another week after they got my returned item to ship me a replacement."
"I have ordered countless times from Overstock.com over the past few years. I was a once loyal customer, but now have to admit that ordering on the site is not worth the $1 or $2 per order that you save compared to a better site like Newegg or Amazon. Overstock.com is generally rather slow with fulfilling your order, and I've been frustrated numerous times with their service. They also are very sloppy with their listing and inventory and have canceled my orders by mistake, without asking me. Their service is pretty bad on the whole. The chat support option is intolerable; a chat representative will be chatting with about 4 customers at a time while he tries to help you, causing much delay in the whole process. It's much easier to email support, and response times here are decent, though I've been very frustrated with the system due to representatives' unwillingness to do anything besides answer questions I didn't ask and waste my time, all while following very simple scripts. Telephone support is decent, but I once had a wait time of an hour before I was connected to someone. Shop elsewhere."
"I've preordered a video game one week prior to its release, because overstock has by far the cheapest price offered.
On its release day, I didn't get any email regarding my shipment status, so I logged into my account at overstock.com to see for myself. To me surprise, it's out of stock! I talked to an online associate and asked her why it's out of stock and when my order will be shipped. She didn't give me a definite answer but to tell me she would forward my inquiry to a sale representative to get back to me by phone or email once it's in stock again.
I am very disappointed in the way they operate their business. If they knew a particular product was going to be in short supply, they should not have charged my credit card. They should have sent me an email notifying me instead and asked me for my further decision on my order.
At this point I have no idea when my order will be delivered. I thought I could count on overstock.com, but I guess I was wrong. I will think again if I want to do business with them in the future."

Very positive (several purchases, I'll only go over the most recent). Bought name-brand scanner and music CD (unrelated) together. With combination of discounts and a mysterious added $10 discount that CS tacked on (see below), the price was way below anybody else, and I saved shipping on the CD by ordering it together. Items shipped on time, & as advertised (new in perfect condition with manufacturer's warranty). A good experience.
Only slight negative: I bought this using their live chat option, late at night. It was the only way I could be sure of getting a discount expiring at midnight. It took 75 minutes!! The CS rep was very nice, and as I said tacked on that extra discount (the long wait? to keep me from hanging up?), just VERY slow. But I was able to get all my questions answered, didn't have to hold on the phone (could work at computer during many pauses), and could save the chat transcript (like on AIM) in case of problems (there weren't any). So I suggest this as a way of contacting customer service if problems.
Overall: 95% satisfied (the slow on-line ordering was the only negative).
Updated (2007) I continue to have good experiences with this merchant. An order of 4 different items (so I could qualify for a small discount) was promptly shipped from 3 different warehouses by 3 different carriers, all for $1 shipping. All were good buys."
"I preordered wii-play on 1/24, at which time they charged my credit card. On 3/03, they cancelled my order. This whole time, they told me I couldn't cancel so I didn't buy from other sources when I had the chance. I think it's funny that I can't cancel, but they can. What a scam, free use of everybody's money for a month."

"I ordered Nintento Wii Play from Overstock on the 16th of Feb. The order didn't ship for a few days so I did the Live Chat and they said the release date was the 14th of Feb. and that it'd ship soon. Nothing happened for a few days, so I got on the Live Chat again and spoke with another person. The new release date was now the 22nd and it'd ship soon. Nothing happened for a few more days, so I got on the Live Chat again and they said they'd forward my order to their "special support department." I go online again, on the 28th, and my order is now cancelled. No email or anything. I get on the Live Chat again, and they just say they're sorry. I don't even get a coupon or anything for their horrible customer support.
Stay away from this company. Their prices aren't even that good anymore, since they're gone mainstream. This store was only good back in the day when it was www.gear.com."
"I have used overstock for several items. Some things they can be very nicely priced on. Other things, a bit expensive. You have to check around.
I do NOT trust their product reviews, however, that they have on their site. For instance, I bought an item that fell apart right away and had to RMA it. Their return policy is very draconian and the clock starts ticking from ship date (I believe). So I was lucky it fell apart immediately. I put this in the form of a review of the product and it never made the review section. Once and awhile you'll see mediocre or poor product reviews, but they tend to all be gushing. So, research the item elsewhere is my advice.
That aside - each time I ordered, this time including, I get the item in a timely manner. Their shipping is fair and packing decent.

"My order of 2 natural latex pillows came realtively fast, in about a week. The best part was their price, however. I have found that I can rely on overstock.com for some products and things for less than half their normal price. Where can you find kind of deal? Anyway, the pillows arrived in 2 separate packages, which was somewhat of a pain, but I suppose they didn't want to lose both of them in case the shipping lost the package. Overall, VERY pleased with the pillows.. they give me and my family a good night's rest!"
"Overstock has a bonus agreement with several "deal" sites including Fatwallet.com. Overstock did not report one bonus amount of over $15 in December 2006, which was finally given after a Fatwallet investigation. Overstock denied another bonus of $6.12 for no reason, even though I linked directly from Fatwallet. All other stores I bought from have come through with their bonus. And the Seiko watch with the "3 year warranty" was actually gray market with Overstock's warranty, which was never clearly spelled out on their product page. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and found a note saying that I needed to contact Overstock for warranty issues. I will be giving Overstock no more business."
"TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!
I have bought several things from Overstock in past years but something has changed. I purchased some cordless controllers for my kids and they only shipped part of the order. For almost a month I have been trying to get them to correct the order and all they can do is make failed promises that some one will call be back in 2 business days.
I now chat with them every other day and always get the same promise from the same script. At least now they say someone will call me within 1 business day (I feel special since I have been fast tracked from the standard 2 business days).
I have been told this on 7 separate occasions and have yet to have someone contact me or address the problem.
This place is whack spend your money on other sites"

"This was my first order with Overstock.com. I was searching for two books that my son wanted for Christmas (Larousse Spanish dictionary and a Polish dictionary). After checking out eBay and Half.com, I did a Google search and found the same books (new) at Overstock for much less. I was surprised. Ordering was easy, shipping was cheap, and the books arrived in 4 days. Packaging was very good and the books arrived in good shape. I will use Overstock.com again based on this buying experience, but will keep these other reviews in mind regarding electronic products. I use Newegg for most computer and electronic purchases and have never had a bad experience with them."
