so i purchased an asus w1n from proportable. the machine is f___king awesome. more importantly, prior to my purchase, i e/mailed proportable about an inquiry to the w1n. i received a detailed reply from justin o'dea, president of proportable. he told me he was currently using one & if i really wanted to know his experience to call him @ the phone #s listed in his signature. i did this, i ended up spending an hour talking about the specs, the speed, the pixels of the w1n. i then spent almost another hour with my new friend, justin. talking about business, families, & fun. justin & proportable are excellent vendors. they are also excellent people who i'll continue to do business with over the years to come. you'd be making a terrible mistake & business decision if you didn't give them a call.

"My experience with Justin & Proportable was excellant. Last spring a friend of mine recommended Justin to me & also to another friend who also purchased a notebook at the same time. On his day off, Justin was easily reached via email & at my request he called me up on the phone. He spent literally 1:45 with me deciding which notebook best suited my needs (my computer knowledge at the time was weak). I gave him the go ahead & he had the notebook in my hands within a week. He patiently spent hrs walking me thru the set up process being i had specific needs. During the next few weeks, he was always there via email or instant messaging when ever i needed him. Then my daughter came home from college & needed a notebook also. I told her of my experience with Justin & she prefered a brand popular with her friends. I explained to her that she'll only get what she pays for & she'd be better off using Justin, his knowledge, his availability, his willingness to help when needed, his higher quality of product(s), his warranty, & his price is absolutely not higher than others (not to be fooled by free deals, poor quality throw-ins,etc).
I insisted she do her homework first, decide what she wants, & then call Justin. After she called him she admitted that i was right & said let's do it with Justin. Again, at an odd time, he helped decide which notebook best suited her needs & had it in her hands within a week also. She had questions that i couldn't answer & spent a Friday & Saturday night getting positive help from Justin via both telephone & email. She was quite satisfied & to this day, very happy with the decision to use Justin & Proportable.

"I am a good researcher and spent many hours going over laptop reviews before settling on one design that these guys stock. They are a great resource for things that can go undocumented so easily in this market. I spoke with Justin at length about his experience between all the models that they carry and was impressed by his candor and expertise. This is definately *not* some large scale computer vendor with an under-educated staff.

I recommend them to anyone searching for a laptop. Being a computer tech myself, I've never really dealt with the larger companies, but I hear that their tech support is lacking - not so here. Their staff is available all the time, either by email and even by IM(!); getting hold of a person is so easy. The Asus brand is high quality, my co-workers even fawning over the build quality (no 'creaks' or 'squeeks' when turning it over). In addition, proportable carried some of the best quality add on components including Kingston Memory and Seagate harddisks - all of which were outfitted into my Asus.

The result is a laptop the size of a 5-star looseleaf notebook that has the speed of my tower (P4M 1.5Ghz vs P4 2.2Ghz!!) weighing in less than 3 pounds and easily fitting into a backpack. If you want to deal with a great company, deal with them."

"The people at proportable, namely Justin and Sean, are the most helpful people imaginable, no hyperbole. I tried ordering my computer on the 14th of july, but because I screwed up my pin number, the bank put a hold on my account. However, justin and sean started building my computer the next day anyway even though I couldn't place my order officially until the 18th. Then they told me i would have my computer by the following friday. Instead i had it by wednesday. They were available by phone and AIM throughout the ordering process and answered every one of the millions of questions I had.

So they put together and sent out my machine early, an ASUS m6bne. I really, really like this machine. It's elegant, not too heavy, can do anything I want, and has extraordinary battery life. I researched laptops for a year before picking the m6bne, so I put some thought into the purchase. I highly recommend this machine for people that want something they can do homework on, take notes, and play some games on if need be. Typing and office applications will give you 4.5 hours of battery life. I even get about 2 hours off the battery when playing Doom 3 or ut2004. It's a very sturdy machine, with flex only on the middle of the screen cover. It came with no dead pixels also.

The funny thing is, even after getting my computer Sean and Justin continue to answer my questions. They tried to help me fix my wireless networking problems that technically had nothing to do with them. I can ask them a question on AIM and get a response. I can't emphasize enough how helpful they were through the ordering process to the present.

The machine also benefits from the high end, high quality components that proportable uses. They do not offer much flexibility for people who want to micromanage prices, but they also give a 3 year standard warranty. Some vendors offer regular 7200 rpm hard drives, proportable offers extended use 7200 rpm hard drives that have lower power requirements and can be run safely for 24/7. They use specially tested Memory also.

The only complaint i can think of is that the website can be counterintuitive, specifically when you are ordering a computer and there is a single option for a component, you have to click it anyway (this may seem trivial but people over at notebook forum were confused about this).

Overall, dealing with proportable was a very pleasant surprise."
