"What can i say, i absolutely LOVE play-asia. I live in the middle-east, and to say that it is hard to get anything electronic shipped over here is an understatement. I have bought stuff like t-shirts over the years but when it comes to anything videogames related i always go back to play-asia (My first order was in december of 2004!) . Seriously,worldwide shipping for around 4$..who can beat that! I have ordered my very first DS from there, the gameboy micro, around two dozens of DS games and random stuff like sour candy :) EACH ONE of those packages have arrived quickly, in perfect condition. And if you have any question, the customer service is friendly and quick to answer any query."
"This is my first purchase from Playasia citing reviews from good friends who've had good experiences with them.. However this was by far the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I ordered a XCM 1080p plus VGA box in april (now as of writing its May). Today i finally got my order in the mail, To find i had to pay a 20$ customs fee before the delivery man would give it to me, So I did. I took it in and opened it only to find a Nintendo DS carry case... a rather cheap crappy one at that (PA lists them as selling for 15$). So now instead of my 118$ VGA box i had hoped to get today, i have a 35$ (added the customs fee!) paper weight and so far Zero response from Play Asia to my emails. The amusing fact is, If in fact they do request i mail it back, it would cost even more to send it back then it would to receive it in the first damn place!
I should add the customs invoice as well as the box sticker lists the package as a XCM VGA plus 1080p box as the contents, even tho the completely incorrect item is inside, As well as looking at the incorrect item, It appears to be slightly damaged in addition to the packaging. I cannot safetly recommend this retailer to anyone outside of Asia, as You are severely risking having your money taken from you.

For a XCM 1080p plus VGA box: Valued at 83$ Canadian (118$ alltogether)
I recieved a Nintendo DS carry case: Valued at 15$
(35$ including customs fee i was forced to pay)
So when you add it up, I paid around $135 for a Nintendo DS carry pouch, Which as your reading i can imagine you would also find ludacris.
Hopefully playasia trys to resolve this, This just makes me fume at the mouth as the gaul of this enormous mistake
Update: 2 and a half days later i got an email back from Play asia requesting pictures of everything, and a promise to send what i originally ordered, in addition to a customs store credit refund. If this indeed pans out i'll gladdly upgrade my review, for now i'm reserving judgement
Update 2: Got another email back, Customer service saw fit to immediately send me my correct order as well as a 20$ voucher for the customs fee and as well as keeping the DS Carry pack. From my experience, altho not the correct order the customer server is a solid 10"

"I have purchased from Play-Asia on numerous occasions, but this will be the first time I review them.
This most recent order was for a couple of Japan-only "Tales of" series games.
I ordered on April 4th. The items were not in stock (they were of the status "normally ships within 1 week" more or less indicating it's a special order item). I was pleased to see they had shipped by the 9th. This particular order took a little longer than some of my previous orders to arrive, however, I would have to assume it was held at customs longer than expected.
Either way, the package arrived by the 25th, both of my items in perfect condition as expected.
Price-wise, Play-Asia can go between a great deal and a bit pricey. My most recent purchases were a bit on the expensive side (Tales of Destiny 2 is $54, and it's a PSP game) however, I can't really complain about that. My previous order, however, was a wonderful deal, so it really all balances out.
Service has always been great. I've never had to contact customer service directly, however, the fact that they inform you each step of the preparation process and once the package has shipped is always a plus. "

I have made 35 purchases from Play -Asia in the last 3 years. The service has gotten considerable worse. I am very unhappy with the customer service and extremely disappointed with the delivery. The only reason I continue to use this service is becasue I am a Canadian living in Korea, and dont know of any other methods of purchasing U.S. games in Korea. "I have ordered several items through play-asia and they do a solid job of keeping you informed of the status of your order (on hold, being prepared, shipped, delivered). The product came packaged well so that it was not damaged on arrival. The products arrive quickly as long as your willing to pay. To me it is worth it :)
I have done a different order without tracking and I suffered a agonizing wait.I recommend using shipping that is expedited with tracking otherwise it may take 4 weeks for your order to arrive. Waiting that long and not knowing the status of your shipment is just too painful when the item is coming from HK. "

On 23-Feb-2009 I get a mail that my Credit card Transaction was rejected!
I mailed them immediately:
asking why the Credit Card was rejected? Also I was not able to view and make changes to the Credit card details.
I mentioned that I had used the same credit Card order a toy from them!
Also asked them if I am still getting what I pre-ordered after giving new credit card details?
Then I get a reply that my credit card is rejected because the bank decline the transaction. I can contact your bank for more information about the transaction. Since all
items in your order has been sold out, They have cancelled your order!!!
I used the card so often for Online shopping for many years, it never had any problem, Until Play-asia tried to ship me a Pre-Ordered toy!

I think Play-Asia had never got the figures in stock in the first place! This is just a CHEAP LAME EXCUSE by them to tell they do cannot ship the pre-ordered figure! Whats the point of pre-ordering when Play-Asia DOESN'T SAVE OUR FIGURE WHEN IT COMES INTO STOCK! Why did they Cancel the order and not BackOrder the figures or give me option to change my payment method?
While I waited here, the figure went out of stock in my other favorite online retailstore! I cancelled all my Pre-Orders after this! Had Enough!
Play-Asia should limit the number of pre-ordrs and freeze the pre-order once set number of orders are placed."
"1st order with Play Asia was on 2008 September 23 when i first started to collect anime figures and to date, i have made 9 orders for 13 items.
Perhaps because i live in Asia, so my orders always reach me within a week or so as Play Asia is located in Hong Kong and is only a 5-hour flight away.
I never had any issues with Play Asia's delivery, transactions and customer service.
There were 2 incidents which were rather noteworthy though.
1) I made a pre-order for 2 figures on Play Asia (orders #12812953 & #13279423) which i had to wait for over 3 months from the initial order. However, true to their policy; Play Asia only billed me via my credit card when the order was shipped.
Moreover, with regrads to order #13279423 which was supposedly a "rare" figurine, i made a couple of email enquiries and customer service responded within 24 hours.
Please note that since Play Asia is located in Hong Kong, time zone differences should be factored in for response times / dates. Although the reply was rather "generic" and a little vague, it was more due to a lack of information from the Japanese supplier and logistics more than anything else. The lady was extremely polite to the point of apologetic, imho.
Suffice to say, i have received both my figures in good condition and am extremely satisfied with pricing (both figures were actually more expensive in my country although they arrived earlier) and customer service
2) Order #13506821 was made in Nov/Dec 2008 for an art book which was listed as "In Stock" but i received an email which stated that it was actually over-ordered and they had to delay the order. Nothing was billed to my credit card,.
Play Asia customer service also promised to back order direct from Japan and i received my art book within a week and a half. Excellent service despite the initial hiccup.
Overall, i will still continue to patronise Play Asia due to my great experiences over a 6 month period with 9 orders and 13 items! "

"I placed an order for this popular 'High School Of The Dead Non Scale Pre-Painted PVC Figure: Busujima Saeko' back in early December (a full 2 months before it was released) and it was not until recently that play-asia has informed me via e-mail that the order was cancelled because it was sold out. I am angry because of a few reasons. First of all it originally said on the site it will be released in February. February comes and goes then it got delayed till March (on the site it said March 2009 release) then it got delayed till April then comes middle of April they cancelled my order. Whatever you read on their site about your order is generally confirmed if you preorder is NOT AT ALL accurate. I'm really mad because had they been more forthcoming with their supplies (or in this case lack of) issue, I could have ordered from another company but because they stalled so long I can no longer buy from other companies because they became out of stock already. This is unacceptable because if they didn't have stock they could've told me back in early February (it was released by other companies already at that time) instead of stalling till 2 weeks ago to tell me sorry we've cancelled your order. Now I cannot buy this item anymore thanks to all the stalling. I read some of the other customers' review about problems with preorders so if you guys have any doubt as to my situation just read other reviews. Your preorder guarantee is MEANINGLESS. Now I'm going to have to order with another company and theres a good chance that it is too late for me to get this item. :(
