"It's clear that this company strives for excellent customer service. It's a cliché that "good customer service is rare" but, you know, that's because it is. Powernotebooks responded promptly, courteously, and helpfully to every inquiry I had. Donald answered all my questions prior to purchase, which is to be expected, but made useful recommendations that resulted in a cheaper computer. He instantly responded (even out of business hours) to all my frequent shipping questions. They called to confirm my order, and followed up after receipt. Impeccable.

Normally, you'd pay a surcharge for that kind of service; but they also seem to have the lowest prices for comparably speced laptops anywhere. "After reading all the positive feedback, I decided to purchase a Sager NP8890 from Powernotebooks.com

Customer service was great in configuring the notebook. Joel was flexible in my frequent changes to my order. I was promptly provided a detailed description of my order via e-mail within an hour of my purchase! PowerNotebooks contacted me via e-mail through every step of the delivery process, with shipping alerts and a tracking number.

My Sager 8890 arrived as promised and it is a nice machine! I did have difficulty with it when I tried to play a game. The game stuttered so bad it was not playable. I loaded several other games and the computer couldn't play them.

I called Tech support, who were prompt in returning my call. They can be difficult to understand at times, but they seemed interested in helping. They asked me to take the notebook apart, which I wasn't comfortable with, but did anyway. After removing RAM and playing with settings, the computer still couldn't play games, which was a primary reason for purchasing it.

I arranged to send it back and they tell me they will cross ship me a new one in 2 days. Seems great so far..

Then I get a call from Sager that they can't ship because there is no room on my credit card to "hold" the cost of the new computer. This was never explained to me and I ended up just asking for my money back.

Shortly after my conversation with Sager, I received a call from the owner of Powernotebooks, who was concerned about my desire to cancel my order with them. Impressive!

He was very understanding of my situation and validated my frustration - which is rare today when dealing with merchants - especially those on the web!

He offered to send me a new unit (overnight) without use of my credit card and I accepted.
When a company (owner no less) is willing to work as hard to please me as a customer as Powernotebooks has done, it's hard not to do business with them. My perspective on this company changed for the better very quickly.

UPDATE 12/23/03:

The replacement 8890 arrived as promised! To my surprise, they upgraded me from a 2.6 to a 2.8 processor and provided shipping without charge!!

I have had this beast for about 1 week and have been busy playing Max Payne and playing with the Bluetooth component.

If you are looking to buy a laptop, this is the place to buy from!
