Priceline charges more than the going rate for hotels

"I booked a hotel off of I-95 in Virginia through Priceline. The website said it was a discounted rate because the reservation was made after 9 pm. Priceline charged me $84 plus $19 "tax".
(At the time I thought $19 hotel tax was a bit high for central Virginia.)
The next morning a hotel employee slipped a receipt under the door. It stated that the room was actually $75 per night and local taxes were $9 for a $84 total cost of the room.
I complained to Priceline."Deidre" the customer service rep wasted 20 minutes of my time, telling me that Priceline has a negotiated rate with Radisson, and I would need to pay $103 -- even though Priceline's $19 supposed "tax" was applied on top of the $9 local Virginia tax. Clearly, Priceline's "tax" is a price gouge for a relatively cheap room. Obviously Priceline commits fraud on hotel bookings. A hefty service fee is not a tax. Deidre was actually angry that I had seen the regular hotel receipt. How many people does Priceline rip off this way?

HORRIBLE BUSINESS WHO PROFITS OFF OF OTHERS MISFORTUNE

"Unfortunately, My son broke his Jaw in two places and I had to return my rental cal after one day rather than 6 days to return home. The "wonderful" priceline refused to refund the unused additional rental day. I can't believe a company can get away with unjust enrichment (profiting off of someone else's misfortune). Terrible company and I would not recommend them ever to anyone."

No recourse!

"I booked a hotel night through priceline and only save $5-$10. I paid the extra to get the hotel i wanted because of the cleanliness reviews. Unfortunately, i got a room that was not cleaned. Pubic hairs in the bathroom, crumbs on the floor, beds untidy. The hotel was beautiful, the staff was great, but it was probably an isolated incident and human error. I have photos and the clerk was very apologetic and said he would refund much of my money, but since i went through priceline, i would have to go through them. He left a message for the manager what had happened. Pricelines response after contacting them was....i never brought it to the hotels attention and there was no recourse. They are terrible and i will never use them again. I previously booked through them several times, but this is the last. They will never receive another dime from me. So if you have an issue with your room...you are screwed if you book through priceline."

Classic Bait and Switch

"Buyer Beware. So you go through the selection process putting in criteria for your trip e.g. number of children ages, number of adults etc... In my case it was a hotel reservation for 2 nights in Butner NC. After selection criteria you are presented with room selection and ability to make reservation. Beware the room specification, fine print and selection changes after you select and agree rooms presented to choose. Why would a customer think or expect after all the process of selection and stated features and pricing anything would change... point at hand... before confirming check for system changes and fine print. Yes folks this is a scam for which Priceline should not only be ashamed but held accountable. We get to the hotel and the room selected during the process was not available, additional hotel fees for my children which were part of the search specification etc... so not only was I on the hook for about $250 for 2 nights with Priceline but then Best Western gouged me for another $100. Never have I ever been charged extra for my minor children. Priceline's defense for misrepresenting... hitting the confirm button. In the past I have used Priceline numerous times but never again... customer service is nonexistent and their business practices will never steal from me again... it is my hope sharing this you won't be taken advantage of either!!! They in refusing to cover the additional $100 will hopefully loose them 10 fold and get the word out on Bait and Switch tactics. Buyer is always ultimately responsible understood. Good Luck."

Never again

"-Airline (American Airlines) was overbooked, so our flight was bumped.
-Car rental agency (Routes) ended up being way more expensive than was listed on the site, and very inconvenient.
-1 week after booking with Priceline, started receiving junk mail from them that I had to opt out of.

Overall, just a terrible customer experience. I'm never using Priceline again.

Customer service is terrible

"I booked a hotel for the weekend through Priceline and when I got to Embassy suites (Raleigh) they said I had not payed yet. Embassy suites charged me $337 for three days. Later I see on my credit card a charge from Priceline for $378 dollars and one from embassy suites charging $337. I called the hotel and they quickly and professionally refunded me my $337. I tried to call Priceline, because they have a "lowest price guarantee" and say that they will refund you 100% of the difference if you find a lower price. I was on hold for over two hours, spoke to four different people who assured me that there was NOTHING they could do, while sounding robotically as if they were reading off of a script. I did not get the difference refunded, even thought they over charged me $40. Their customer service is extremely frustrating, and their prices are not the lowest and they do not do price matches. the hotel itself gave me a better price, than their "lowest guaranteed". do not book through Priceline. "

"Had a charge issue and they literally said they can do nothing for me. Not even for future booking to entice me to come back. First time customer is now a never customer who will share her experience with as many people as possible"

That’s the way to cheat on customer!!!

"I purchased the airline tickets on August 23, 2019 at 9:45 AM., Then I found the lower price at www. ieagle .com so at 9:50 AM.(see screenshot) I read the Priceline Best Price Guarantee very carefully, here is the policy:

“The Priceline Best Price Guarantee applies to Air, Hotel, Rental Car and Cruise reservations sold on priceline. com!
The lower price, including taxes and fees, must be available to the general public for booking on a website in the same currency, using the same form of payment and from the same point of sale as your original reservation when you contact us. The lower price must be an exact match to the itinerary booked on priceline. com, including offering a comparable cancellation policy. For reservations that are not pre-paid, we will either help you cancel your reservation so you can rebook at the lower price, or we will refund 100% of the difference after travel is completed.
Claims must be initiated within 24 hours of booking, or up to until midnight the day before travel if you choose an Express Deal® or Name Your Own Price® reservation”
I qualify for this guarantee, so I called Priceline at ***-***-**** to submit the Priceline Best Price Guarantee. The 3 agents let me hold on the phone so many hours. One of the agent let me email my screenshot that I have to proof the lower price to email address: airtsfax4@ email. priceline. com Finally, the last agent told me that they cannot see and find the price on www.ieagle. com. They refuse to refund me the different price of $267.40

I paid $1,544.06. for my Priceline Trip Number is 190-940-****-****. I found the lower price $1,276.66 at www. ieagle. com see the link below https://www. ieagle. com/flight/checkout?lang=en&reviewId=ab7d440a-1caa-4971-b385-396238e12317-23152123. I also attached my screenshot here. Please refund me the different price of $267.40 ($1,544.06-$1,276.66)

Priceline should be honest to customer who can proof the lower price, My screenshot show the lower price with all details very clear, matched all of requirement. If Priceline want customer to submit by phone the agents must proof that they DO NOT see price on the matching website screen. They spent time on the phone let me hold for over 4 hours without see any price! That’s the way to cheat on customer!!!

wrong motel info, costs more than through motel, no resolution!

"Reserved motel w/pool. Day of reservation I found out there was no pool. Spent hour online and on phone. Motel understood, said to tell Priceline it was cancelled with no penalty. Priceline called motel then cancelled. Went online to Priceline and reserved another motel for quite a bit more money because there was no advance booking, as it was needed immediately. I did add 1 more child. Tried to get a better price because it was their misinformation about the pool that caused me to cancel the 1st reservation. Nothing. Went to check my credit card and found the first motel charge was on there, along with the second motel charge of $60 more. I also had a charge from the motel, which was $25+ cheaper than Priceline. I can get the motel charge reversed tomorrow, but Priceline charged me $25+ more than the motel. I called Priceline again, and they don't care. Too bad for me. I thought they had discounted prices. Right. NEVER AGAIN!"

Priceline messed up! But set it straight

"I booked a same-night reservation through Priceline. I got to the hotel, and it had no record of my reservation. I called the Priceline customer service number listed on my reservation. Turned out that the number was for Booking.com. The operator there ended up canceling my reservation for me (I guess Booking and Priceline have some sort of agreement), and I booked through the hotel directly. But the whole process took a half hour(!). I’d have been better off not booking through Priceline at all."

Found lower price got no refund

"
Booked a hotel room via the Express Deal feature on Priceline.
Priceline claims to have a Price guarantee with 100% refund if one finds a better price at the same hotel, for the same dates in the same room configuration.(200% refund on Express Deals)
One day before departure I googled my itinerary, and low and behold, I found a lower price for the same itinerary that I had booked. I called Priceline with the request to please give me a refund, or at least match the deal I found on the web. I was told it was against policy, since cancellation on the competitor's site was free, and my booked itinerary had a non-cancellation clause. The reasoning from the rather rude sounding supervisor (whom I asked to speak to after the first customer service rep (who took 20 minutes to find what I had found in 3, but at least he was nice) wasn't able to help me) was that the cancellation policies had to match!
I would have gotten an overall better deal with the competitor ( FREE cancellation beats no cancellation any day)and a significant lower price and was denied my refund on a technicality.
Book with whomever you want, but I no longer trust Priceline.

BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM

"Do not fall for it! I booked a free cancellation room that turned into a non refundable room immediately. I tried to cancel within the allotted time but was given the run arounfmd for 2 days over 6 calls and hours of stress. Priceline blames the Hotel the Hotel blames Priceline. Long story short I was cheated out of my money! Do not fall for their scamming ways!"

Terrible customer service

"Went online to do the chat with them because we had to adjust our flight and rental car. Adjusting the flight was no problem as it was through Southwest Airlines. When the Priceline rep first thought I said I wanted to extend my rental car he was going to be fine with it. When I said I needed to cut it short by three days he said I would be charged the entire amount of one week Wether I return early or not. I gave him a chance to change his mind, he still said no too bad that’s our policy. When I told him I would never use them again he said sorry you feel that way good night and hung up. Clearly, they have gotten so big, they have forgotten where they came from and what customer service is all about. The joke is it’s going to cost them Way more when people read all the terrible reviews and we never use them again. Greed is always the demise."

Don't book with these con artists

"Booked to stay at the Hyatt in LA next to the airport. Our plane from Australia was delayed and then rescheduled for the following morning meaning we would miss our hotel booking. I called Priceline to cancel and request a refund. Priceline said the hotel would not give a refund therefore Priceline couldn't. I called the Hyatt who told me that as it was booked through Priceline it is their decision not the Hyatt. I argued with Priceline for our $317 AUD refund and got nothing...."
