"I have been going to their website for over a year now, and building machines that I imagined I would buy if I had won the lottery. You could spend 10K easily. However, when it really came time to purchase, I stepped into reality and got an excellent and powerful 2.5K machine. Jon recommended an upgrade to the CPU based on the possibility of video editing in the future, and suggested a trade off in hard disk configuration to make it cost about the same (actually slightly less.) I got good response as I pestered them with email during the build process, and Jon modified the standard system testing to include the VIVO of my graphics card. He also answered a 2:00 AM email in less than 15 minutes! Your mileage may vary, I guess he happened to be up. The system arrived in a very sturdy package that protected it perfectly. In the intervening 2 weeks, I have not found any issues with the build or hardware. I really could have built the system myself, but the standard one year of full warranty INCLUDING SHIPPING was worth the slight amount I could have saved. All of the accessories from the RETAIL version of the components (not the OEM) were shipped in a box clearly labled "What's all this stuff?" I am a happy camper and I will be steering my friends and family to PCC for ever if they keep up this level of service and quality."

"Customer service dropped off sharply after I paid them for my computer. I had to wait almost two weeks for my parts to come in before they were able to start assembly. They also didn't follow my instructions for drive placement. Otherwise the computer is running well and I am sure it will be great for many years.

update(2-6-2006): This is to further explain my review.
At the start the customer service was great. Very quick and knowledgeable replies to all of my questions, and there were many. After I placed the order, my emails took a lot longer to get replies and I had to ask about what was going on with my computer and the back ordered parts. I didn't receive any emails unless I wrote to them first. Also, instead of writing the response in an email, I had to go to their website and login to check comments made on the order page. It couldn't have been too much harder to hit reply as well.
The drive mix-up was a pain, but since I needed to get into the system to install hard drives, it wasn't too much work to move the disc drives, after I figured out how, which they helped with. I can understand that parts are backordered sometimes and I don't hold that against them, same with the late UPS shipping which they are helping with the shipping refund. Those things were out of their control. I did expect to see emails in my inbox letting me know what was going on and I didn't get that. Even with the power supply, the reply to my message offering the alternative was great, but then they didn't reply to my question about the difference in the cost.
If the communication was better I probably would have felt more taken care of. Maybe they had a lot of orders in, or it was an off couple of weeks. Its just that the whole experience could have been better, and I expected it to be for what I was paying for the system.
Bottom line, even with the long build time, the mix up with the drives, and the sparse communication during the build, I would still recommend the company to others looking for a high end system. The computer is running well and the extra effort with the cables already in place for my other hard drives was really nice.
Since recieving the computer I have recieved good customer service with fairly quick answers to my questions. The computer itself is still running great and FEAR is beautiful running at max settings with no slow down. It is a lot less noisy then my other computer and much faster. I cannot say I am very satisfied with the experience, but I am satisfied with my computer and I hope it lasts many years."

"This is the review I wanted to post but hit submit too soon originally: I highly recommend this company. They are very customer focussed. Wilson in Sales worked with me for around two months designing a system that met my requirements (video editing and upgradability to Windows Vista) and answering tons of questions in the 20 or so emails we exchanged. They allowed me to drop ship a video capture card they did not carry to them and then held on to it for a month until I was ready to order my system, at which time they integrated it. They offered several suggestions to help me save money on my configuration. I got the computer 9 calendar days after I ordered it. It arrived in excellent condition and the build quality was excellent. Jon, the owner, took the time to let me know that the builder had missed some instructions regarding installing certain bundled software and was very apologetic. It was no big deal because I just did the install myself. Two OEM software titles that were inadvertently omitted from my shipment arrived via express shipping within a week. When I noticed my CPU temp running hot under load, Paul, Jon, Wilson and Dan all patiently answered my panicy questions, even responding on Christmas day when Puget was officially closed. I am hardware illeterate but Paul helped walk a family member through verifying the CPU heat sink was correctly seated and we narrowed the issue down to airflow. To remedy, I ordered a custom side panel with an additional fan which fixed the problem. While I would have preferred if the need for the additional fan had been identified during testing and addressed then, no harm was done - I was able to leave the side panel off to keep the CPU cool until my custom panel arrived. Paul then walked me through getting the fan powered and installed. Puget gave me an excellent discount and free shipping on the custom panel. Since it was an additional part and not a replacement for a failed part, I totally understand that I needed to pay for it so Puget could recover their cost from their vendor. Since Puget is a small company, they do not offer onsite service outside their area, so it's best to either know how to do basic hardware troubleshooting (checking if cards are seated, etc.) or know someone who can do it for you. But, if these options are not available, you can still send the unit back to them for warranty service with the shipping at their expense. I have found no other custom builder that gives you as much control over component selection as Puget and their customer service is exemplary. I will be referring anyone I know who is in the market for a computer to Puget."

"I bought my last computer from Jon and Puget Custom Computer a couple of years ago. When it was time for an upgrade, I e-mailed to see what they could do to make my computer quiet and improve the graphics card. I got mail back within hours. Their offer: if I shipped my computer to them, they would put the components in a new case with a new graphics card and ship both the new computer and the old case back to me. They would even pay the shipping. I looked up the prices for the components they suggested; I could only find them for a total of $100 more if I wanted to do the upgrade myself. In other words, Puget recommended the best components, would do the upgrade, test the system, and still cost $100 less than if I did it myself. The computer works great, it's much quieter, and I have my old case and motherboard to sell to boot! I already liked Puget, and now I'm a customer for life."
