"Several months ago I decided that it was time to replace my 4 year old computer. I'm a recently retired aerospace engineer who still has a need for a "number cruncher" and who also enjoys gaming and multi-media software. After much internet lurking and comparison shopping, I chose Puget Custom Computers to build a custom system for me. I couldn't have made a better choice. At the onset of the process, I had pretty much decided on exactly what components I wanted. Late one evening (close to midnight local time) I finally pulled the trigger and e-mailed Puget for them to do a component compatibility check and make whatever suggestions they thought necessary. I expected a reply sometime the next day and prepared to shut down for the night. Before I could do so, I was rather shocked to receive a reply from a tech at Puget Systems. This began a series of e-mails in which we hammered out the details of the system that evening. Basically he thought my original configuration was fine, but had a couple of money-saving suggestions (which I certainly appreciated). The next morning I submitted my order and immediately received an e-mail from Jon Bach (the owner) outlining the building process and directing me to a page on their website where I could follow the build and testing process. The page was updated frequently and was easy to understand. The order was completed on the date originally estimated, shipped, and arrived at my house in a timely manner. During all this time, I continued to receive update e-mails. I never at any time felt "forgotten". When the computer arrived, I attached peripheral hardware, installed my software, and began a check out process. I thought I had a problem with one of the cooling fans ... an e-mail to Jon Bach resulted in a quick (within minutes) response and explanation. A quick BIOS adjustment "fixed" a problem that never was. An actual problem came up when I realized that the ZIP drive wasn't being recognized by the system (including BIOS). An e-mail to tech support brought a quick response, with a statement to the effect that they would walk me through a step-by-step process until the problem was corrected. They did, and it was really like having a tech there in the room with me. It turned out that a connection had come loose during shipment ... problem solved in five minutes. I've been using the system for a couple of weeks now and I'm delighted with it. I've made many internet purchases ... some smaller (monetarily) than this, some larger. I can honestly say that my experience with Puget is by far the most comfortable I've ever had. I would buy from these guys again in a heartbeat! "
"If you're reading these cause you aren't sure where to buy your next pc, then you've found your answer. I've bought several pc's over the past 10 years from Dell and others and have never had such a buying experience as I've gotten from Puget. These guys are way over the top in terms of config, build quality and most of all customer service. My machine was configured exactly the way I wanted it, built promptly and is frankly, way more than I expected. You don't need to search for a quality vendor anymore, you've found them. Jon Bach and the rest of the folks at Puget could give lessons on how to sell, build and support computers to just about everybody else in the industry. One note though, better get yours fast before they get as big as Dell which is inevitable considering the great company they are. I'll never go anywhere else."
"Super friendly, knowledgeable, and committed. Jon, the founder, answered each of my emails. The computer was shipped out six days after I placed the order. This IS a violation of their 3-5 day build claim, but how can you blame them when you order a part before it's even released on the market? I was actually pestering them, asking them when I could place an order so I could be first in line when the parts arrived. When the parts arrived (earilier than expected) they began working on my computer immediately. They tested, built, optimized, and benchmarked my machine in 2 days! It was shipped on 12/12/04 and today, 12/15/04, UPS says it is already in a nearby city (it makes we want to run and go pick it up)! This is their base-level shipping, from Seattle to Denver in 3 days via ground!
During the relays between myself and the company it was almost always Jon (the founder) who responded immediately, the majority of them on the same day. I remember asking him if the DVD/CD burner I purchased came bundled with some DVD/CD burning software, and he told me they did. While poking around on their website I took a looksy at my invoice and found a note on it: "Make sure Nero is included." I didn't even tell him I wanted it, let alone expressed a need for it.
In addition, because I was the first person to order this technolgy from them (the ASUS-A8N SLI motherboard in case you were wondering) they posted the benchmarks from my machine on their website. They told me they would before they did. This was in strict confidence of course, I just recognized my order # on the benchmarks. Just for that they threw in some free Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound. Its only a $5.95 (as of 12/15/04) value, but its much better than the free thermal compound that comes with the fan and heatsink that go on the CPU. This was also noted on the invoice.
They were also willing to accomodate a special request of mine: I already had a copy of Windows XP Pro and I didn't want to buy another one. They offered to install my copy for me if I shipped it out to them. I had to pay postage but they did the install for free and shipped it back with the computer. That was also noted on the invoice immediately after I told them I mail it. I imagine mistakes made by this company are few and far between with their policies. It works much better than just saying you will and then forgetting about it.
I haven't received the computer yet, but I will update this post when I do.
