"I have nothing but good things to say about my first (but probably not last) purchase from Puget Custom Computers. From the discussions of various options build options, to updates on the build process, to shipping. Pricey? Sure -- if you do the usual straight component by component comparison 'shop' on Newegg, the Puget System machine is definitely priced on the high end. But, you *are* paying for a custom, tuned build. Perhaps you could achieve the same results on your own. Perhaps not. I've built lots of systems on my own, and despite having a fair bit of experience, am pretty sure I couldn't build a system that is as quiet, or as neatly cabled (seriously -- the moment you open the system case is the moment you actually consider using the word 'art' in terms of cable management and overall 'fit and polish'.) Can you buy a relatively quiet 'commodity' machine for less money.; Absolutely -- I have several that are very quiet. But, they are virtually 'sealed' and doing upgrades is a major hassle. Moreoever, the components are relatively cheap. Puget Systems uses high-end, binned components, so your machine is not simply built with the cheapest, nor are the individual parts simply pulled off the shelf. Again, it would be possible to build this machine yourself (I calculated a roughly 30% cost savings if I did), but I don't think I could build it so well, and with such care and selection in the components.

The machine is definitely 'inaudible', and runs cool in the bargain. I popped for the mini-180 case, which despite a somewhat flimsy feeling front panel cover/door, is a very solid case that balances modest size and good cooling. The Gelid cooler is quite a sight to see (it is *big*), but the ingenious packing process ensure no problems during shipping, and it is...silent (for all intents and purposes).

In all, an A+ build. "

"As a software developer, I own quite a few PCs. I decided that for my next upgrade, I would need a PC that could support multiple Virtual Box VMs. Thus, while it needed some horse-power, it mainly needed lots of RAM. I also wanted a SUPER quiet PC which would support three monitors.

William helped me pick the perfect system: an i5 with 16GB of RAM, Asus GeForce GT 640 video card, all in a gorgeous Fractal Design R4 case. Because I have experienced numerous hard drive failures, I also requested a hardware-mirrored set of drives. William pointed out that, if I really wanted super reliability AND performance, I should consider an SSD. Though quite a bit more expensive, I did opt for the Samsung 256GB SSD. And I am SO glad I did. It is blindingly fast, with zero moving parts.

At no time did I feel like I was being oversold. I was informed of progress during all of the build and shipping processes. The machine arrived early – an added bonus. The documentation, including the thermal images is excellent. Packaging is also excellent. And the cabling / dressing is superb.
