"A great price for a camcorder prompted me to order from Rainbowtronics.com. A mistake on my part in my credit card info was required a call from me to a customer rep to correct. I made the call and got it corrected quickly. Later, checking my order online, I saw there was still a mistake in my cc info. My "spider-sense" tingled and I decided to cancel my order. I called again, and after being shifted to 3 different people and left on hold for over 30 minutes, my order was finally cancelled. Bottom line, I wont order from them again, but I don't have enough experience with them to tell you not to. "

"It was a pleasure dealing with Rainbowtronics. The agent was polite, patient and understanding. The prices are also competitive.
Follow up: The items arrived as promised. I found out however that the camera body shipped was a "Gray Market" Japanese market version and Nikon refuses to honor the service agreement. RainbowTronics insists that it is covered under an "international" waranty (disputed by Nikon).
The USA warranty card sent along with the product is not valid in the USA and I cannot get software upgrades. According to Nikon, if my camera were to fail, they would not service it even for a fee...

"Called the 1800 no & like other reviewers, experienced some aggresive tactics from salespersons trying to sell extended warranty, batteries, & the like. Their camera & lens prices are lowest I could find anywhere but they really jack up the prices of their accessories on the website, then give you a hefty discount on the phone to entice you. Quite unpleasant experience with sales rep, who got irritated when I said no to everything. And when I asked him to confirm the amount toward the end of the call, turned out he added extended warranty even though I made it plenty clear I didn't want it. Told him I was in a hurry & would call back to complete transaction. Hung up & got a call immediately from my credit card company telling me Rainbowtronics tried to charge an amount that includes the warranty! Also received an email confirmation of my order, which I thought was not confirmed yet!! Just called their customer service, and somewhat sorted things out but will have to see when the shipment arrives. They are charging me $30 for 3-5 shipping even though on the website, it says $25 but I am letting that one go. All in all, probably better ordering online but they will call you to confirm anyway. One thing, folks, if you do call, try not to give them your credit card info until you have settled all the details with them; they asked for my CC info up front! UPDATE: 2 days passed & I still have not received any confirmation despite repeatedly calling them. They kept saying they had credit card problems but I talked to my credit company & was told there was only one attempt. Anyway, the last Rainbowtronics rep I talked to finally told me the item I wanted was back-ordered for a few weeks. I have a feeling that they put me on a lower priority because I am not buying accessories, which make them the money. I'm writing this company off forever."

"Ordered a Canon Elura from Rainbowtronics; it was the best price I could find. Order was fulfilled and camera received in good order. It comes with US warranty. My only gripe with this company is how they make you call them to "confirm the order" when they only want to sell you overpriced and unnecessary accessories. They will claim that the battery only lasts 30 min and you need a bigger battery. However I read the detailed review on dpreview where they say that this is the strongest battery they have seen on any camcorder -- lasts longer than the 150 min claimed in the specs. My advice: buy the accessories from B&H or Amazon. "

"I found a camera for slightly less through another website, but this merchant was rated higher for customer service so I went with them. The service was great and after quite a few special offers that I took advantage of I'm certain this was the better price than the competitor I first looked at. I'll definitely look to RainboTronics first the next time I need something they sell."

"There are no complaints when you received a D2Xs camera that is more $1000 less than B&H. I was concerned if shipping was a pile of stones and not a real D2Xs camera, this often happens outside USA. I had tracked the D2Xs price on eBay for long time, the final bid prices were about $3300~3800. Remember it was used camera and deal with person. Through the Google, I found RainbowTronics price @3300, called the guy - Zack and ask if is it a grey market, he said “Yes” (I found the received box all in Japanese, not English). Asked Zack again if the include accessories sell separately, replied “NO, include in the package”. It seems honest and made an order total for $3658.99(plus extra warranty. S/H and insurance)... "

"After placing my order, I received an email implying that there was a problem with my cc. When calling, I was put on hold for 15 mins, only to find that there was nothing wrong with my order. They were simply trying to sell me more stuff! When I declined, the salesman became very perturbed. Upon checking other reviews, I found that this is their standard mode of operation. This company is very unprofessional and I will not patronize them again!"

"After having been scammed by other sellers recently, I placed my order for a camera with Rainbowtronics with some trepidation. I just received my camera yesterday and everything is great. The only pressure I felt from Rainbowtronics was the "up sell" by their sales associate, but would expect that from a low cost seller. The key was when I said no to items I did not need the salesman did not hassle me. I would do business with this company again."
