"I just installed the third alternator I have purchased from RockAuto since December 2009. The first lasted 4 months. Not sure when the bearing noises started, but it stopped charging at the 4 month point. The second and third alternators had loud bearing noises right after installation. After the second failure I asked and was told I could not get a refund because my order was over 30 days old. The only option I have is to keep ordering and replacing alternators, which is becoming very tedious. I would strongly think twice about ordering parts from Rock Auto. I am seriously considering writing this off as a loss and bad experience and going to someone reliable."
"Be careful when buying from Rock Auto. I purchased a radiator that turned out to be defective, the internal transmission cooler in the new radiator had a leak. This leak allowed antifreeze to get into my transmission. Rock Auto would give me a refund for the radiator but not the cost of haveing the tranmission fluashed (even after flush the tranmission is acting up). "

"Ordered parts for a customer that had to work out her schedule as she did not have a "backup" ride to and from work.
Parts arrived as scheduled to coincide with the customer leaving her car for service. The service was a maximum two-day job. However, the parts were WRONG for the car, in fact, not even close.
Had to call customer service to return part and order a new one. Customer Service representative ASSURED me that the item would be shipped out the same day (and would arrive in enough time for me to complete my job). Ordered in the morning and the item wasn't shipped out, not arrived, but shipped out over 24 hours later.
Sadly, the part won't arrive until Saturday via FedEx and this is memorial day weekend. She needed her car, BADLY, and due to this fiasco she won't have it.
I mistakenly thought Rock Auto had a part in stock in their warehouse if they state they do... So, why would it take over a day just to pull one item.
Are they THAT busy that they can't keep up with their customer base? Or is there another problem? I think the latter. Some internal policing needs to be done to prevent mispackaged/wrong items from being shipped out.
Like other mechanics, I will revert back to using my local auto repair shops. I hope they get it worked out...
Response to R/A response: Please explain to me and those that may read this review why it takes over 24 hours to pull one item in an order? Especially, when a CSR is emphatic that the order will go out the same day (not 1 business day). I just can't get my head around this delay. And it sure wasn't addressed in the reseller's response. It sure doesn't leave me with any peace going forward or help to convince me that I should even consider a future purchase with Rock Auto."

"I've never had any issues with RockAuto. They've always had in stock what I ordered from their site. They have a lot of parts that are hard to find anywhere else. Their prices are great - get the same brands manufacturers use for 1/2 the price, sometimes less. Fast shipping. Sometimes you do need to watch how many warehouses they're shipping from. If you have more than one shipment the shipping cost will go up quite a bit but sometimes you can just pick a different brand for the part that's in the second shipment and it will be added to the first shipment. Even with a higher shipping cost you'll be saving money though."
