"I ordered a canon t3i package from RytherCamera. I receive the package on time and all items received were satisfactory. I had an excellent experience with the customer service at Ryther. David Brennon contacted me within hours of placing the order to let me know of the different offers I could avail of on my order. I had a few queries regarding the order, all of which were promptly addressed by David. Such good customer service is unheard of today, especially when you place an order online. I will continue to shop at RytherCamera.
Thanks,
Suraj"
"Update 3.12.10
Received a phone call from the owner who wanted to make sure everything arrived in good condition. The company has excellent customer service standards and truly want to make sure that you have a good customer experience. I will certainly purchase another camera from RytherCamera in the future
Update 3.10.12
Camera arrived on 3/8/12 in perfect condition only 4 days after placing order online. Received two follow up emails from RC giving shipping status updates. I am extremely happy with the purchase and the service received. I will consider purchasing from Ryther Camera again in the future.
UPDATE 3.6.12: Yesterday afternoon I received a follow up email to my original inquiry. The email asked me to contact their customer service line using a direct extension provided in the email. I called the number and spoke with Victor who confirmed that my order had been received and updated me that the order had been processed. Victor indicated that the camera would be delivered by 3/15/12, but no later than 3/20. This morning the charge for the camera appeared on my credit card as a pending transaction. This evening I received an email from Rythercamera with a fedex tracking number. According to Fedex, the camera will be here Thursday (3/8/12.) I Will provide update when package arrives... So far exteremely satisfied with the prompt response and customer service
3.5.12 I placed an order for a Canon Rebel EOS T3i with Ryther Camera last evening using their website. Sent an email to customer service to ensure order was received as I checked out as a guest instead of creating a user account."
"I'm very satified With my order.Rythercamara was the sheaper paces that I found the canon t3i. My order was free shipping and fast. I extremely recommend Rythercamara "
"Updated 3-11-12
I received the camera on 3-10-12. my advise to other customers is that if you dont mind waiting for 2 weeks after placing order and charged for; then rythercamera can actually save you money.
Just be sure to follow up on the tracking, I really feel not comfortable to wait for an expensive item without a tracking. that's why i keep calling to follow up for a tracking number.
I placed my order for a canon 7D body on 2/25/12, and was told that it will arrive in a week. but then I got a confirmation e-mail saying it will arrive on 3/9/12. so it is about 2 weeks for the delivery. Since I have a oversea trip next week and I still do not have a tracking number a day before 3/9/12, I called Rythercamera to confirm the delivery date because I have to be home to sign for the package. I was told that a tracking number will be provided for me to track it and the package will arrive between 3/10/12 - 3/12/12 instead of the confirmation e-mail listed as 3/9/12.
I'm probably being forced to cancel and get the refund if I cant get the tracking number by 3/9/12 and the package by 3/12/12 because i will be out of the country next week already.
I will update this once I got a tracking and the package."
"These folks are easy to work with. I had ordered a lens specific for a shoot from Ryther but when the shoot was cancelled the next day, I called Ryther and let them know. They cancelled my order with no questions asked. Now I don't have to purchase a special lens that would only get used once and saved a ton of money. They understood what I was going through. I will definitely do business with these guys again. What a great crew - gotta love the family owned business mentality."
"Shopping at RytherCamera !
Initially, I gave them negative review, because things were not done properly. However, I was contacted by the owner and offered store written warranty for Nikon d5100, and new 16GB memory card in lieu of missed 8GB card. I was very pleased although some Zeikos equipment still does not work. Generally, brand name accessories may cost more, but there is a reason for that. What shoppers have to remember is "you get what you paid for", my mistake. When shopping at any online stores for camera or accessories[in my case Nikon], inquire whether this is refurbished, import product (=store limited, but no Nikon limited warranty) or USA product(Nikon limited warranty). Demand written warranty to be included with the product. Read the fine print, and remember that nothing is given to you for free... and when it is, it is of not much value. Happy Shopping."
"I placed an order of a Canon 5d MK 2 package from Ryther Camera on Feb. 19, 2012. The Package includs the factory-sealed Canon 5d Mark II body with a 24-105 mm Len as well as a variety of accessories. Ryther’s offer was very good and they also provides a free 7-9 bussiness days ground shipping service. Although I had found several bad reviews about the company, most reviews did give the company good scores. Combined with budget issue, I still decided to purchase the package from Ryther Camera. A short moment after my placement of the order, a company representative called me and tried to upsell additional battery and warranties including international warranty. The person told me the battery came with the camera can just last for 30 min. That is extremely odd. I said NO to all of his offers, and he kept to change the price of his various offers to convince me to accept his offers. However, I said NO and emphasized that the camera would be returned if the package is not factory-sealed. He was also trying to sell me another method of shipping even though shipping was marked as free in the beginning. However, I still kept to choose the free shipping service. Later, I received a comfirmation email from Ryther, and I found from the email that the shipping I ordered was a promotional severce, and may not have a track number and is not insured. This makes me extremely uncomfortable, because the Ryther did not explain the shipping method when I chose the service, and also, the representative failed to do so too. I called back the custumer service of Ryther immediately with an intention to change my shipping service or cancel the order, a guy took up my call and told me the company was closed for the day and he can not do anything for me at the time, and the store will open at 10: 00 am next day. I thought the order might be safe since the online review on Ryther was 8.1 out of 10, and therefore, I decided to keep my order. Unfortunately, they never sent me further information about the shiipping, however, they did update my account on their company’s web indicating the items were “sent out to be shipped”. Since the shippment did not arrived in my hands within the promised shipping period,I contacted them twice on March 1 and 2,2012, and requested a copy of the shipping proof. They have not responded to my requests so far. Till today, the March 8, 2012 (20 days after my placement of the order), I have not received anything from the Ryther Camera. This makes me believe that they have not shipped anything ever and the low price and free shipping may be a bait for fraud. "
"I wish to commend your customer service rep. for the way he handled my problem today. He was courteous, friendly, and a great problem solver.I needed my shipment right away by this Friday the latest. He understood my situation and gave me free shipping and expedited my shipment so it will arrive by this Friday. Such professionalism and resourcefulness is rare nowadays. Your customer service rep. is an asset to your organization and is part of the reason I look forward to doing business with you again in the future. "
"Bart was fantastic. I received the wrong warranty with my camcorder and Bart was excellent taking care of it!"
"SUNDAY UPDATE
Given my need for clarity on warranty transferability and concern about a date certain delivery, I spoke with Kevin at Ryther this morning and realizing my needs he offered to cancel the order in full and refund to my credit card by Wednesday. He kindly confirmed the cancelation by email a moment ago.
FRIDAY/SATURDAY UPDATES
While my credit card was charged for the package amount, I have no evidence of actual shipment, i..e. neither the promised FedEx confirmation nor a tracking number. In response to an email request for clarification, I received an "order update" that corrected a duplicate entry but gave me no tracking number. I have also asked by email for specific reference to to warranty company Ryther uses so I can see the transferability provisions with my own eyes.
I am thinking I will cancel this order and catch the occasional US warrantied new item that is beginning to show up at A**** or obtain another factory refurbished D7000's which people reference favorably. Then I can build my own sensible accessories with the price of each more clear.
_________
Well let's just say that when you need a Nikon D7000, it ain't easy if you know what you are doing.
As many of you know, Ryther is one of the few places that has D7000's and some other high demand Nikon items not available at the usual sites. The US versions of the D7000 currently at Ryther are factory recertified, with a 90 day Nikon warranty. In fairness, if you read the website closely enough, you can figure this out, and the representative will be honest regarding what are gray market or US retail products.
However, Ryther prices seem often to be built around charging a premium for the US retail products of, say, high demand lenses and selling the gray market products at a standard US retail price. Also, the prices for items such as memory cards are listed way above market, as are some of the batteries and accessories from second-tier manufacturers. Shipping and warranties are similarly premium priced. That way, in the negotiation (which the agent may tell you is taking too long and that you are not a trusting person, etc.), the discussion can be filled with "upgrades", "substitutions" and "discounts" that you may lose track of easily.
All of this leads to an interesting negotiation when building a package, where things are mixed and matched and you in the end you may get a price that is actually some 10-15% more than a perfect world price at the usual sites, assuming that things were in stock.
The bottom line is that while the sales reps are responsive, they can get frustrated with folks who ask a lot about prices and brand quality and want accountings of how packages are built (your order will not show individual prices). I have been promised a delivery next Tuesday of a custom package with the factory recertified D7000, with 90 day US warranty, a warranty (that can be transferred to a new owner and/or a more expensive D800 wherever I buy it), two US retail lenses, an extra battery, upgraded memory cards, filters an upgraded bag and random small items.
So, bottom line is I will have to wait and see if things show up as ordered and on time. This looks to be the same as other reviewers. My sense is things will probably be ok. I called back today to check on shipping and was told that I would get it Tuesday even if they end up packing it up Monday. But as noted, in reality you will end up paying a bit of a premium to get what you need now--in my case at least $300-$400 over my usual go-to sources. However if I bought with local sales tax it would be more like a wash.
I hope my stuff arrives on time--and the warranty is as easily transferable as I have been told. My order is a sign of the times with Nikon's shipping challenges of late--and in total, I am paying for it. It is what it is, if it works. More soon, with final ratings."
"Overall, my experience was a good one. The only issue that I had involved the "not so obvious" additional charge for insurance and something else. However, that was quickly and professionally addressed. I got what I ordered, for a very competitive price, and it was delivered in the expected time-frame. I would consider making a future purchase through RytherCamera."
"I ordered a fairly high dollar camera on a Tuesday just before noon and I paid for the three day shipping option. On Thursday, I checked my status and it said "out for shipping". This seemed unusual, since I was told by "James" I would get the camera by Thursday or Friday. I called and talked to Victor. He explained that his shop was a small operation and it took up to 48 hours to handle an order. I advised him that I had paid for three day shipping and I expected it in three days! Bottom line, Victor expedited the shipping and sent the camera overnight and I got it the next day. Way to go Victor! Thank you. That is service if I've ever seen it.
On the other hand, James called me after the order and told me that the camera came with a "30 minute battery" and he tried to sell me a very expensive upgraded battery. Victor, I don't and most other people don't like being mislead. James just flat out lied and that is not good business. It really makes me have second thoughts about ordering from Ryther again."
"Was in the market for a Canon 7D and found that Ryther was the cheapest by about $200. This was for the body only. B&H had the best deal for everything else (Canon 18-200mm, HOYA UV filter, Sandisk Extreme Pro 16GB card). I should mention that I have dealt with B&H since 30 years, always pleased, so I was apprehensive to get the body from Ryther, but, after scanning the ratings (and unfortunately skipping over the numerous reports of the high pressure sales tactics) I went for it - $200 are $200.
Placed the order over the web and received confirmation. Then - nothing. I travel a lot on business and during my trip my wife told me that Ryther had left a message, something about confirming the address. That sounded odd, perhaps something was wrong with the credit card?, so I called, and surprise, surprise, this was all about pushing "upgrades", like a "4x better battery", a "super-fast charger", a "manufacturer's warranty" and "upgraded shipping" (as others here have also reported.) Unfortunately, out on the road somewhere, I had no way to check any of the claims (as others have pointed out, they are mostly bogus) and agreed. A few more days passed, I was about to cancel the order, when the shipping confirmation arrived. From then on everything was fine, the camera was in original packing, with all original accessories, it worked (and still does).
In the end I saved $20, but it took 3 weeks more and caused a lot of hassle and time spent on the phone, compared to what it would have been for an identical product from B&H."
