"Recently decided to buy a Canon 5d Mark II for my wife who wanted to start taking photographs professionally. After internet hunting and going to a few stores, I found Ryther had by far the best deals online. I was very hesitant after reading the reviews online, but was optimistic after reading this site and seeing that they seemed to try to do the right thing if something went wrong and you complained.
I called and made sure I spoke to Victor who was listed in many of these reviews as the owner. When I finally got him on the phone I told him of my concerns after reading the reviews. He spoke to me for over 20 minutes and I felt very comfortable with him.
When I called back the next day to put in my order, Victor passed me to Dave who is his partner at Ryther. Dave was great and discussed what lens would be best for me. I told him I wanted to make sure I was getting a US Camera, not gray market and a US lens. I also told him I wanted the camera/package sent FedEx and I wanted it within a week.
The next day after I placed my order I got a tracking number and 7 days later the package was at my door. The camera was able to be registered at the Canon USA website no problem as was the lens. The box was missing a few small items from the package such as a lens pouch, table tripod etc...Nothing of major significance. When I told David of this he sent it out right away and I receieved them 2 weeks later.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I went into this knowing how Ryther worked and expected a few hiccups. But everything they said they would do, they did. The camera/lens/battery/memory card/filters etc...all work great and I saved over $1000 off of what I could find at any other retailer.
When you call just be upfront with them about your concerns, let them know that you plan on reviewing them on reseller ratings and that if they do the right thing by you, you will give them a positive review. They came through on everything they promised me and I would definitely recommend them to anyone else."
"First off, I am in no way affiliated with RytherCamera. Back in November of 2011, I searched high and low for the best deal on a Canon L lens, and RytherCamera had a price that seemed too good to be true. I was especially hesitant after reading all the negative reviews regarding "bait and switch", of which if you decline extra purchases, you may get screwed. While they did require I contact them to "process" the order, I simply told them I was not interested in any additional accessories. So, no harm, no foul. Plus, it shipped a little quicker than they estimated it would be. So, I'd definitely try them again. "
"I ordered a Canon T2i with 18-55mm lens today after another online retailer fell through. They said it is in stock and has the canon 1 yr US warranty. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
Update: The camera arrived on the 20th which was 2 days after expected time. So, it did take a while to get it (18 days). However, the price was excellent and I am really happy with the camera so far."

"RytherCamera offered the lowest price on an item I was searching for as a Xmas gift. I was happy with the price & impressed by the numerous institutional affiliations listed on their home page. So I "pulled the trigger" so to speak & ordered a professional quality camera that came in just under $2,000 & beat the competition by a large margin, between $500-1,000. Unfortunately, I was later subjected to a high pressure sales call which led me to believe that my order had not gone through. After nearly 15 mins on the phone, the sales person UNBELIEVABLY hung up on me when he determined I wasn't going to budge. Although customer service eventually made things right & apologized, it took some time to get through to them & a while longer for the actual credit to be approved. While I would consider buying from them in the future (only b/c of the customer service response), I did not like the "follow up" sales call one bit. "

My product almost didn't make it here before my annual trip with my wife. With the help from Victor and Bart, I now have the camera. They understand the situation that if I don't get the camera by end of the year, nobody will be receiving the camera. Not to mention we will not have a camera for this trip. Victor upgrade the shipping for me and was here the next day.
My only suggestions are
1. Separate the import model and the U.S. model on the website so there won't be any confusion.
2. Instead of 7-9 days ground shipping, it should also say if the camera is an import model it will take longer than that.
but I must say I'm impress with Bart and Victor's service.

"After many months of attempting to order the Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens, a family member directed me to Ryther Camera. Now one may be wondering why I was encountering that much difficulty in ordering this lens.
I live in Trinidad, in the Caribbean, and anyone who has ever tried to ship electronics into the country (especially weighty ones like this lens) would run into hefty charges at customs points. It was critical for me to order this lens and have it shipped to a hotel before a certain date.
To compound matters, most websites would not ship directly to a hotel. Ryther Camera, however, had a very kind sales representative who ensured that he would personally FedEx the package to the hotel.
After speaking with the Sales Rep on the phone and communicating with him via email, I received word from the hotel (in Florida) that the package had been received.
Excellent service from Ryther Camera!
One drawback though, the package advertised on the website that says "Free lens pouch and cleaner with every lens purchase" is shipped separately. Which is fine I guess for situations without time constraints. Unfortunately for me, this package was set to arrive after my folks left the hotel and consequently I never received this free offer. "
"My experience with Ryther was positive and professional. I’m not an online shopper, I prefer to walk into a store and see what I’m buying. So when it came to buying a new SLR I did my research and decided that the Canon EOS T31 was what I wanted. I looked online and Ryther had the best price, but for me was the fact that they had a store in NJ that I could go to and see what their operation was like and if the T31 lived up to its hype. It did, and they did.
I drove up to NJ from Maryland just before thanksgiving on my way to CT. I found the place fine and was lucky to meet with Kevin Karim – he was knowledgeable and helpful. We talk about options and accessories and after buying the T3I I was able to meet the folks from the call center and the shipping department who were all on site. When I got home and found that one of the filters I had bought was the wrong size I called up customer service and they took care of it right away.
I’m a fan and look forward to working with them when I look to buy my next specialty lenses.

As much as I thought I did my research prior to my very large camera purchase, I had only really done price research. The price was initially lower. The sales team continued to call until I upgraded my order with additional items they pushed. In the end, $700 was added to my order (and that was with "free" upgraded shipping).
I received no legitimate shipping information. No tracking number. When I called, Victor was manning the phones. There are no words to describe his treatment of me, as well as his elusiveness and defensiveness through his top of voice screaming at me. He also told me about all of the customers calling him that same day with the same complaints (red flag!). The only upside is that his desperately unprofessional behavior alarmed me to suspect a scam. He said the order would arrive the next day, but he would not (or could not) provide a tracking number. There was no tracking number. It was not shipped. I had been scammed. After several calls from the same names I see in reviews, especially in Yelp reviews, they promised a refund. They told me to refuse the camera when it arrives.
People, I have seen no camera. I have seen no refund as of yet. They took my money and did not give me a product. I am fully fighting this with the help of my credit card company who is in 100% support of me. Thank goodness. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE.
Had I read the Yelp reviews, which are currently very close to my own experience, I would have never placed the order. Please do not risk the security of your money or more because of the allure of a slightly lower initial price."

"My experience with ryther camera was terrible. We purchased a camera on cyber Monday and chose regular shipping, which should have gotten the camera to us a week and a half before Christmas. First they called us a week after we ordered the camera and said that we had purchased the international version which had a small useless battery and warranty and for 100 dollars more we could get a better battery. Next, when the camera should have been delivered, but wasn't, we called and let them know. Of course victor told us that it was going to be there that week on Friday, only two days late. Friday came, but no camera. I called again and spoke with victor. When he told me that it was going to be here on wednesday, I asked to speak to a manager. He told that he was sorry and that he guaranteed it would be here on Wednesday. Wednesday rolls around and sure enough, it's not here. I called Kevin the manager and he didn't know what I was talking about when told that even after his guarantee, the camera was still not here. He was rude and told me to call the main number Because he was busy. it was completely ridiculous. Lastly, due to the fact that it was delivered a week and a half later than the slowest shipping, we had to drive an extra hour to go pick up our camera in time for Christmas. In summary they were not honest with me at all and we're rude. I would have understood if they would have told me the truth from the beginning. Nope, they just strung us along. I will never ever buy from these people again!"
