"I had never used Ryther Camera before, but I will certainly use them again. James, the sales clerk I dealt with, was extremely knowledgeable on all the needs for someone looking to buy everything in one shopping trip! "My father-in-law found Ryther Camera while researching a camera package for my wife for Christmas. I did the order on line all went smoothly except when it came to the shipping I was contacted and was told that the shipping and billing addresses were differant and for security reasons I had to contact my bank but we use a credit union and for some reason they would not verify this information. I had to have it shipped to me and then I shipped it to my in-laws. I do like that the company was watching out for a third party fraud scheme, so I was told."

"In this economy, competition for customers is fierce, and if your customer service is poor, no amount of super sale is going to make up for that. So why pick Ryther over others who may have similar deals going? It's the customer service.

There are two parts to good customer service. The before and the after puchase. Before you buy, no matter how much online research you do, you may need a little guidance. A few hours after I placed my order online, I called Ryther because I was having some second thoughts about the package I had selected. It had some things that I didn't need (tripod, smaller equipment case and the like), and didn't have some thing that I wanted (a bigger bag and a faster speed card reader for faster on-site editing). When I called I spoke with David Brennon. He knew what I was talking about, never tried to upsell me, and was able to fashion a package for what I needed at the same price. Even though it was Cyber Monday, I never felt rushed by him.

I had chosen myself to upgrade the shipping, because of my own time constraints. [This is my only criticism of RytherCamera...I don't feel that their shipping rates are commensurate with what the real shipping costs would be. They seem a little padded. Not alot, like say, QVC, but a little bit. They could work on that. Again, I didn't NEED or was talked into upgrading. I had decided that for myself beforehand. And they clearly state the terms of their free shipping and any other promotional policies.] Even with the upgrade, my camera arrived four days EARLIER than promised, and everything was in the new and perfect condition one should expect.

So here's the after part: There were two things missing from my order. I feel confident that this was likely a warehouse theft issue, as my invoice was clear and correct about the order itself. Also, the nature and resale value of the missing items (one of the items was the memory card) further informs that opinion. So I called David Brennon right away, and he apologized and fixed the problem immediately. My items were shipped overnight to me, along with an apology.

The camera I purchased, BTW was a Canon T2i, and I am thrilled with it. It's versatile, easy to use, and fits the needs of both a professional photographer and amateur alike. I let a ten year old and a seventy two year old try it, and they both could use it easily and with great results. The pix quality and detail, even when you blow the pictures waaay up, is remarkable. The Canon 50-250mm is far better than the Canon 300mm, which is, IMHO, maybe the worst lens they have ever made. Since I am more interested in taking pictures that shooting video, I chose the Ti2. If you are going to take more video, or the video feature is very important to you, I recommend the Ti3, but again, get the 50-250mm lens, not the 300mm lens that is generally being offered in most packages. You will likely get the same discount ($100-150 off) if you buy it at the same time as you buy your camera body, and it's much, much better.

A word about pricing: Ryther's pricing is very competitive, and I did a ton of research. The lowest pricing I could find for the package that David put together for me was a minimum $200.00 more anywhere else. And that includes all of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals out there.

Again, even with great pricing, customer service is what makes or breaks the deal. I can't say enough about David Brennon. He's what you hope for when you hire sales/customer service staff. Knowledge of products and pricing, the ability to talk to a customer about their particular needs, and never, ever any pressure to spend more that exactly what I told him I would be spending. And if something goes wrong, as it sometimes does, he fixes it - no hassles, no questions, no charge. The way it should be.

"Had an outstanding experience at the RytherCamera store today. I went in looking for a tripod. I went in having an idea what I was looking for. Kevin was very honest and told me what I was looking for was an excellent tripod and an excellent price and I would be better off getting it at another retailer. How can you beat that honesty!"

"Very disappointed with Ryther Camera. I ordered my camera on Thanksgiving, and selected free shipping. I thought that would be delivered to me in two weeks. But after I called them to ask the estimate delivered time, they told me that would be before 12/23...Gosh!~~So I added $35 to upgrade my shipping, the person told me that would be arrived before next Friday...I am waiting...Don't disappoint me again!~

UPDATE1: Victor apologized to me about the shipping problem, and he promised me that the camera would be arrived by this friday. I am satisfied with your attitude in customer service, but the rate will still remain the same until I receive my camera package kit with the complete 18 items in it.

UPDATE2?Victor added $10 to my shipping upgrade, and I think it is a good and acceptable. I was glad that I received my package on 12/09, but I found out that there are still 3 things missing in the package.

"I ordered a gift for a friend from RytherCamera a few weeks ago. I waited thinking it was going to arrive in time but it didn't. Later, I found out through their customer service representative that somehow my Paypal payment didn't go through for some odd reason (a technical glitch).

The RytherCamera representative was very apologetic about the ordeal and dealt with it in a professional manner.
