"Ordered online after speaking with a saleman about availability of the camera. Received emails, 3 in all so I called. Got transferred to the Pro department...employee in pro department informed me the camera was not a us model, but grey. Tried to sell extra stuff. I said no. Then he said, of course you know that the shipping and handling is extra. I said, no it's not, its free per your website and copy of my order on the website. Said, sorry too bad, its handling insurance and shipping. Said its about 9 to 10 percent extra. I said no, cancel the order.

11/23 I just received a call from a gentleman, Kevin, who apologized for the behaviour of the salesman. He was going to work a special price for me. I told him I'd purchased the camera already and it was on it's way.

Again apologized and offered to send an extra battery for the camera. I thanked him for the offer. Lets see if it gets sent.

Anyway, I did promise that I would post. He was polite and apologetic, so perhaps I was a bit to harsh.

Ok, as promised, the most recent update...no battery received. If I understood the offer, he was going to ship me an original battery to match the camera. Surprise...no battery received, no shipping confirmation. so.. my rating of this merchant is still,...they are bogus.

What is really amazing is...they just dug themselves in deeper.

Update. They realized that there was a communication problem and have corrected it. A battery is on its way and will be delivered in a day or so.

End of story.

"Edit to my review:
After posting this complaint Kevin, a part owner of Ryther Camera apologized many times for my experience and offered me a discounted, rush order of anything I want. He took very good care of me and rushed my second order out to me in about two days.
Kevin explained that the long time it took to get my original package to me was due to an importing issue that has been affecting many camera manufactures. He explained that their phone system is an ipx and that it usually does not go down.

Original review:
1) I was not given a tracking number for two weeks
2) They didn't process my order when I made it. Instead, they waited a day so they could call me and try to sell me more items that I didn't want.
3) When I called to complain about the fact that my camera had not gotten to me after 13 business days there phone system and live chat were down. I emailed them describing my issue with all of my details and the response was "the phone lines are working". So I wasted time writing my email.
4) I called back and left a message which they never returned.
5) It took 14 business days to get to me instead of 7-9 which they promised.

"I love RytherCamera because I was able to get the most for my money.I searched all over (in stores and online) for the Nikon D3100. I was able to find it at RytherCamera for waaaaaay les..not to mention it came with everything I needed and more. I was able to have my 3 year accidental insurance upgraded to a 5 year for free! On top of that, I didn't get my 8gb memory card (suppose to upgrade 4gb to 8gb for free also) but I just called in and they sent me an additional 4gb memory card with no problem! Great customer service and great deals! Can't beat that!"

"Being a Hollywood filmmaker, I am very particular about the choices I make when it comes to my profession. I will also admit, I’m not a big fan of buying expensive products over the Internet. But, when I discovered that the Sony SLT-A55VL camera, I wanted was on RytherCamera.com, and offered 1) more accessories with the camera and 2) at a lesser price, than the same camera on the Sony web site, I was at first skeptical and later, blown away.

Thinking that this was too good to be true, I made the initial call to their 800# listed on their web site and low and behold, I was pleasantly assisted by an knowledgeable sales associate by the name of David Brennon.

Not only was it a pleasure to speak with someone who knew the product, David, also guided me in making the right purchase. He gave me the option of swapping items in the particular package I purchased, as well as, explaining to me the pro and cons about which warranty plan I should purchase in order to save me money for years to come.

I, truly feel in my heart, David, was not a typical sales person, trying to increase his commission, bonus,etc. He is, certainly a person with integrity. And definitely an asset to your wonderful company.

Thank you for delivering TRUE customer service; which has all become rare these days!

"I originally found out about RytherCamera from Google Shopping. The storefront offered the cheapest price on the Canon T2i kit I could find, as well as the advantage of having no sales tax, which is a large advantage for us from Washington state. After finding the T2i kit on their site listed for $599.99 and checking to see if it was genuinely new, I felt that I was okay -- it was listed as "BRAND NEW - USA WARRANTY" so I was sure that it was the right product.

I placed my order on a weekend and received a call the following Monday, asking to specify the billing and shipping address. I was also offered a deluxe package for $100 extra that would give me a case, a warranty, an SD card, and an upgrade to the "USA retail kit" for the camera itself. I had already bought accessories elsewhere, so I declined the package, but the CSR on the phone pointed out that the camera that I selected was an import model with a separate warranty for the US, hence "BRAND NEW - USA WARRANTY". I asked nicely if I could upgrade to the genuine USA retail model, because that was what I wanted all along, but couldn't find listed on the site anywhere. He said he could do that for $70 extra, and considering the amazingly low price to begin with, this was still a great deal, so I accepted. With that, the order was placed, and it shipped out the next day. I opted for the non-free shipping, which was unfortunately $25, but a tracking number with FedEx was worth it.

All in all, my order was about $700, and considering that most other storefronts listed the kit at $680-$750 and would include 9.9% sales tax, I still saved a ton of money. My camera arrived a few days ago and I'm pleased to report that it was indeed a brand new T2i kit, with USA warranty documentation within.

Overall, this is a good retailer that offers competitive prices at the expense of some slightly annoying business practices. They'll call you up and try to sell you some goodies, which aren't even a bad deal if you need them. Just make sure you tell them exactly what you want, and they'll be happy to help you out. I'll definitely order from these guys again when I want to make another large camera purchase.

"I ordered a Canon T3i from RytherCamera on Monday. On Thursday they contacted me to inform me that the camera I ordered was an "international" version, and that I would need to pay $50 more for the US version, or else go without a warranty from Canon. At first I agreed to the extra charge, thinking I missed the mention on their product page that I was purchasing the international version. However, when I went back to check the page later I found no mention that the camera I was purchasing was a grey market version. I immediately called to cancel my order. They agreed to do so immediately.

Several days later I see that my account has been charged for the camera. So I call again, and again they agree to refund the charge. Now today I check my account, and I see that I have been charged once again.

I've purchased cameras from several online retailers with absolutely no problem in the past. This bait and switch is absolutely inexcusable. I won't be purchasing anything else from Ryther in the future, and I'll be contacting the Better Business Bureau if they can't get their act together and stop charging my card.

"I had a great experience with Ryther Camera!
I ordered a lens for a Nikon D3100 camera. When it arrived, 4 days later,i realized that i had ordered the wrong one. I contacted Ryther, and they made it very easy to return the wrong one that i had ordered and get the one i needed very quickly. I will definately use Ryther in the future for all of my camera needs as well as sugesting them to my friends.

" I wanted to take the time to thank Ryther Camera & David Brennon specifically. I had researched cameras for 3 weeks before making the decision to upgrade to the Nikon D5100 from my Canon Power Shot A470. Due to the cost of the upgrade I was very uncertain if I was making the right decision. I had placed the order while working offshore on the oil rig utilizing the internet website provided.
David personally took the time to track me down on the oil rig by calling my wife at home, then retrieved my email address and emailed me to call him before the order would be shipped. He proceeded to tell me that due to the cost of the equipment he wanted to confirm the order was placed by me and the shipping address was correct. He then took it a step further by spending over an hour on the phone with me discussing the purchase. He continued to question me about the upgrade, why the decision was made to go with this equipment, different bundle packages and accessories needed with this equipment to ensure proper use and protection. He helped assure me that I had made the right decision with the equipment and with the distributor I had chose. He went above and beyond by assisting me with changes to the bundle package that he thought was a must to ensure that the equipment was protected and that I would get the most out of my use, even going another step by asking me when I was returning home from the oil rig and expecting this equipment. Then he assured me that the equipment would be at my house waiting for me upon my return. By the way, it was. I am very happy with the camera I purchased. I have no idea how to use it, but that will come with time. In addition, I am absolutely thrilled with the service provided to me by David Brennon. Rest assured, shall I have any further needs or instructions, I will be calling Ryther Camera.
As for a star rating, I give Ryther Camera a 5 star rating. I will be recommending your company to everyone I know and rest assured trying to keep David busy.
