"I was looking for a specific APC surge protector. I typed in the exact model number I wanted and the site brought up a picture of what I thought was it. I quickly ordered the item. 2 days later the item was here. However, upon opening it I found it wasn't the model I was looking for. I double checked the Staples site and found that when entering a specific model number, the site showed me a similar item that looks almost exactly the same but had less features. Upon calling Staples, they told me they would credit my Visa the $25 for the item, and I could KEEP IT! I will continue to order from Staples."
"Staples stole $25 from me.
I placed an order at staples.com for a wireless router with a $25 mail-in rebate.
I was away from my printer when placing the order. So, I decided to print the rebate later...
When the order arrived, the rebate form was nowhere to be found -- not in the order confirmation emails, not on the "Order Status" web page, and not on staples' sitewide rebate search engine. An email to staples' customer support drew an automated reply, pointing me to the same rebate search engine which had already come up empty.
Summary: right item, quick shipment, pretend customer support, and double the price I expected to pay.

"I order a file cabinet from them and the salesman promised it will be ship to my house at the next day. So I wasted all day to sit in the house and wait for them no show up since they said it is going to be from 10am to 5 pm. But at the end of the day they did not show up at all and I got no phone call from them. Then I called again, they told me they have not put down the order and it is going to ship any time between Aug 24 to Sept 14. How can they expect I will sit in the house 7 hours a day for almost a month for that order? "
"Ordered a Maxtor 100 gig harddrive. No big deal. The next day I received a Linksys Wireless-G Enhanced Notebook Adapter in place of the harddrive. I called as soon as I saw what they had done. CS said the right part would be shipped that day. I received the right part the next day as promised. I was told to box the Notebook Adapter up ( I would have kept it if I had a laptop) and UPS would pick it up to be shipped back. It was picked up the next day.
Staples received it back on the morning of Aug. 8, 90 miles from me. They have been sitting on refunding my credit card for the Notebook Adapter I did not order.
Very fast to charge your credit but no hurry to refund your money.
They have one pi$$ed off customer, make that ex-customer. All because they hire incompetent people or its company policy. "
"Ordered a Nikon 4600 camera and they took order and charged credit card promptly. The tracking info was fine, they sent that fairly quickly, and although they use UPS (camel, I think), looked like things were just proceeding how you would like it to. When I recieved the package from UPS, the packaging that the camera came in was a joke! The "box" (being very generous) was fine on top and sides, but on the bottom, there was a several inch opening the length of the box, and tape was on sides. Am not even sure that camera is inside of the box, but now am going to take it to local Staples and show them how it came in and get a credit on my card, also, wondering if my credit card info has been compromised, as the contents were open to any and all that work at Staples and UPS, at their leisure. NOT impressed at all, and will never order from these guys again. "
"ordered some back rests. order arrived in less than a week. packing was adequate. i have done 2 orders on these back rests."
"Fastest shipping on any product I’ve ever ordered, a one day turnaround; this is in addition to their low prices."
"Ordered a monitor. Received the item on schedule. Customer service was good. The Staples easyrebate system is the BEST in the industry.
The only thing I would ask is that Staples.com provide a UPS (or whoever else they choose to use) tracking number to each customer so orders can be tracked.
Thanks Staples ..."
"Ordered a Printer and a camera which shipped to me next day. However, there was a conflict in trying to get the rebates to be fulfilled which was time consuming. But stapleseasy rebates do process much faster than other rebates I've gone through."
"Was in the market looking to buy a digital cam, nothing to fancy, just something good and cheap. Was in the store the day before doing mental price checks before I purchased and they had an HP435 3.34 MP cam for $99. Not to bad I think, but head out the store and venture onwards.
After running to store to store, I've made up my mind, Staples it is. Go there and *poof* the cameras gone :*(. Asked a sales rep when they would have them in next and he said it was the last one. Seeing my disapointment, he decided to check the computer for me just to make sure.
Low and behold they had 1 left in the stock room. After waiting for roughly 10 mins, he comes out and says to me that there are a few things missing from the box, like batteries and the mem card. I say no sweat I have a mem card at home, but can I see if it's the same one that is required for the camera. Sure he says. Sadly it wasn't. He then ponies up a offer I can't really refuse.... A major discount!
While he's away talking to the manager, I pick up some batteries and await to see how much of a discount I'll be getting. He comes back and not only takes $30 off the camera but tosses in the Duracells for free! Ok, since I'm saving cash here I might as well pick up the ram, but nope, the give aways don't end there, he tosses in a 128MB mem card for $10.
He then offers an exchange warrenty for a 1 year for $10, sure why not, they've been so giving at this point, it's only fair I think :)
Total cost of this cam with 128MB mem card, Duracell batteries, taxes and exchange warranty...... $132.15
This guy went out of his way to ensure customer satisfation, and satisfied I was. I look forward to my next dealings with them in the future.
I just wonder about their tech guys though, was in there a week ago looking for CPU's and he pointed to a complete system, I had to correct him a few times."
"This was my 1st order from Staples and I was happy. I ordered on 4/30 and received my order by 5/2! Ordered a DL DVD Burner and software was cracked. Called Customer Service and they arranged for the Manufacturer to mail me a replacement ASAP. Recvd replacement CD by the end of the week. Overrall. Great Merchant."
"staples is absolutely has the worse customer service.. I was promised my order of hard drives would get fille dbut never did... 2 thumbs down and they will hear from the BBB online for bait and switch to fill in the order at regular pricE!! this is bullcrap."
"I will never purchase from Staples again due to deceptive rebate forms and rude support. When I purchased 2 memory modules the register printed me 2 rebate forms and according to those rebate forms I was allowed to submit up to 3 per household. Staples refuses to honor 2 rebates even though they provided me with 2 forms and the limit listed claims 3. In their defense, at the bottom of the rebate legeal terms it does say 1 per household, but why list 2 numbers?
Also, their e-mail support is a waste of time. They did not read my e-mail at all. They would only reply with "one per household" canned responses. When I complained about them not bothering to read, they replied with what appeared to be a standard solution... "call the support line." The support line would only keep insisting that the rebate was 1 per household no matter how many rebate forms I was given or what the rebate form said."
"Highly dissatisfied. I placed an order for some photo paper that was a great deal. I got an email saying the order would ship and be received by the 29th of december.
At the beginning of February, I emailed them again because I had not received my order. They emailed back and said it would be delivered on February 4th + 7-10 days which was fine.
February 28th, I still do not have my order. The email response says:
"I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced in placing an order with Staples.
Unfortunately after researching your order I have found that the driver made several attempts to
delivery the package but was unable to obtain signature for the package. "
What delivery attempt? They have no proof that they even attempted a delivery. Don't most mail couriers leave a notice that a delivery attempt has been made (such as fedex, usps, ups, dhl)? I guess "Staples Courier" is too cheap to even put a notice on the door.
The only nice thing they've done is give me a $5 dollar coupon for the inconvenience and FINALLY giving me a credit for the order exactly 2 months later."
"Order placed by phone since Staples' web site was down. It went through, was listed as in stock and to be delivered within 2 business days. A week later when calling Staples to inquire about the week old order I learn that order was cancelled. I'm offered instead to replace the order at the current (higher) price. Credit card was charged and reimbursed for the original order but in my opinion these are unacceptable business practices... "
