"A check for $1,550.68 was cashed for an order of three LaCie hard drives. The drives were never delivered. When TheNerds was approached recently re the order. they offered to knock a generous $14.85 off an order for disk drives to use up the funds. You cannot trust TheNerds to deliver after they receive funds or to treat you decently if you catch them."
"Ordered a cisco firewall advertised new. It failed within a few months of usage. Cisco claimed the equipment was sold "used" and would not cover it, while thenerds.net claimed cisco was wrong.
I'm not sure who is right, cisco or thenerds, but what was clear was that thenerds.net obviously did not care to help us resolve the issue. I would not purchase from them again, and would not recommend you do. They are not customer service oriented."
"I placed my order in the afternoon 10 days before christmas, requested ground shipping, with all the disclaimers that it could take up to 48 hours to ship and 10 business days to deliver - further complicated by the fact that the shipping address was not the same as the billing address. The product arrived the next morning. "
"This reseller has a policy of not shipping any item unless the shipping address is linked with your credit card account, a policy they do not state or discuss on their website. What this means is that if you are shopping for say, gifts, at say, Christmas time, you will not be able to simply give them your money and be done. You must also call your credit card company to set up alternate addresses for all your gift recepients. And then you must call the vendor back. And check frequently to make sure the order is shipped, since they will then call your credit card company to verify.
I'm a pretty serious online shopper - I've bought tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise online (things like refrigerators!), and I've never had to do this. I resent this process - they charge your credit card (and take the money), and then wait for you to take additional action before shipping it. This is very bad business policy for an online commerce store and a very big inconvenience for people who are shopping online for CONVENIENCE. If I'd known about the shipping policy, I would have chosen another vendor.
And even if you aren't shipping to somewhere other than your credit card billing address, maybe you should wonder about the professionalism and competence of an online site with a questionable shipping policy and an even more questionable lack of DISCLOSURE until they've taken your cash.
Buyer beware."
"I ordered a Replay 5532. I received my order confirmation immediately. The following week when I went to the website to track it, the tracking information was not updated. I tried to call customer service a couple of times, but was either on hold waiting or tried to call too late (I'm on the west coast and they close at 5 EDT).
When I finally got through to customer service, they told me that there was a problem with authorization and was transferred to the credit manager. He explained that they left a message on my home answering machine asking to verify my address. I never received the message, and there was no other attempt to contact me. I would have at least expected email asking me to call them.
My unit was received in perfect condition the following day. Another item I ordered at the same time did not come until several days later. Because the shipping information was never updated on their website, I didn't know that they were sent separately until I called.
Overall, their service is on the lower end of what I've experienced from online retailers."
"I purchased an Panasonic FZ3 digital camera from this store. The customer service was so-so. The individual I spoke with was very nice, and I was able to get his extension number in order to speak with him directly once the camera arrived. I did have a question about the warranty, (I was confused by the Canada Only card, and mistakenly thought I had been sent the wrong country model) I was told I would get a call back once they checked this out, and the call was not returned. However, I will say the camera arrived VERY fast. Less than 48 hrs from placing the order. The tracking number was not posted by the time the box arrived. I did not like that the manufacturer's box rattled around loosely in a much larger box with a couple of small airbags. Everything seems new and works great, and the savings was fantastic compared to most places. They did have the item in stock, just as they said, even though most online dealers were out of them at the time. If costumer service is important to you, be cautious about shopping here. If you are certain you know what you want and your budget is tight, thenerds.net could be a very good choice. It worked out very well for me."
"After 2 good purchasing experiences with TheNerds.net the third was not so good. Item showed in stock, placed order on a Friday and patiently waited for tracking number. The following Wednesday called to see what was up. I was told that the customer contact log file showed a message had been left Tuesday notifying me the item was on back order with no in-stock date. One problem, no message was left in my voice mail. Who did they leave a message for? Did they call a wrong number? Did they fake it and log a bogus call?
My credit card was billed for the full amount and item did not ship.
Note to all vendors - Don't ever bill the card until item goes out the door! OK? Only other time it is OK to do this is if I give you permission to do so.
Canceled backorder and asked for my credit card charges to be credited back to my account. TheNerds.net did credit my account, but mis-calculated the shipping and shorted me $12 or so. I had to call them back Friday to get the rest of the charge credited to my visa. Why is it the charges can be billed to your credit card in 1 day, but it takes 7-10 days for credits to appear?
TheNerds.net to their credit, do pick up the phone when called and were helpful and apologetic, just not competent. I'll have to rethink doing business with them in the future.

"Ordered the Ultra 500w Power Supply w/ X-connects on Friday Morning. Nerds had the lowest price. Left for a business trip that morning. When I returned on Monday, my wife had already accepted package. They sent 3 emails updating they delivery. Nerds had shipped same day like they say they try to. Very pleasant experience.
It was difficult navigating their website. Tried several times to locate the Ultra power supply but couldn't. Thankfully, Pricegrabbers showed me the way."
"TheNerds.net advertised the best price on a very new product and I ordered it for overnight delivery to an address that was not my billing address, but was authoriaed by my credit card company (I had received many items there). Due to my need for overnight delivery, I told the sales associate to contact me if there was a problem. At 3:30 (six hours later), I called to make certain that everything was going smoothly. The customer service rep told me that my order was on hold because the credit card company had not approved the alternate address. I assured him they had and he let the order go (disturbing that he didn't call me to tell me of the problem, then took my word that it was OK). I checked with the credit card folks and they indeed have my alternate address authorized. The package just arrived.
Bottom line: good price, but watch them like a hawk."
"TheNerds.net advertised a ER-CH4 battery charger claiming compatibility with the Nikon EN-EL1 battery. When charger arrived, the battery would not fit. TheNerds.net would not give a full refund; citing an obscure reference on their FAQ page. There was NO mention of NOT guaranteeing compatibility on their policy page."
"I ordered a Maxtor Quickview drive for my Tivo from them since they were the cheapest I could find. Order date was around 4pm on 8/13/04, which was the Friday before Hurricane Charley hit Florida. I almost didn't order from them since I noticed they were located in Florida, and worried that the shipment might be delayed.
From reading some reviews on this site, I knew going in that they were slow to post the tracking information. So, on Monday, I simply called and was given the information. Drive showed up well packed (double boxed actually) on Wednesday using the cheapest ground shipping option. The tracking number still has not posted to their website, but that is just a minor inconvenience to me. I am very satisfied and would use TheNerds.net again."
"Goods arrived in two days from warehouse in LA. Tracking data was posted after the goods arrived. No big deal. Not in the same league with New Egg, but a good reseller nonetheless."
"Update: It is now July 17th and I still havent received a Credit for this order. This is nothing short of criminal and I have called my credit card company and filed a formal complaint. I had done in excess of $20,000 worth of business with this company in the 6 months prior to this but will never order from them again after this experience.

Ordered ink Cartridges for my printer - they sent me the wrong ones - called customer service - had the person literally ask me "Well what to you want me to do about it?". Finally got someone who promised to send correct ones - sent wrong ink again. Have called 3 different times asking that a call tag be sent and my account credited and my account still has not received a credit nor have I gotten a call tag to return the merchandise. "
"Bumber that so many people had a bad experience with this shop. Mine couldn't be better. I didn't know it when I ordered, but they shipped my toner from my area, so I got the package the next day. Shipping was very reasonable as well."
"Yesterday I saw on their website that they were selling the Western Digital 74GB Raptors for $15.10 each. I bought two of them and received my confirmation email. Later in the day I received an email saying that my order has been backordered, and that it would be canceled, and I would be credited back the money. Now at the time that I purchased them, they had 342 of them available. And at the time I received the cancelation order, they had 20 available. I was going to call them back then, but their customer service department was already closed. Today I called them, and after spending a while on the phone I finally talked to someone who knew about the hard drives, his name was Robbie. He said that they had received them as a special promotional deal with Western Digital for $15.10 each. I asked him if they still had any Raptors left, and he said yes. The ones they had left though weren't part of the special deal he said. The ones they had left were now priced at $229.10. I questioned whether they had actually received such a deal and he became quite rude to me. Thats where our conversation ended. I plan to contact the Better Business Bureau for the region they operate from. Don't buy anything from these people. They seem to just be marking products at low prices to get people to buy them, and then cancelling their orders."
