"A couple of years ago I heartily posted positive reviews of WebstautrantStore, but that opinion has been radically dented. My wife and I have opened a micro-distillery, and recently we ordered 50 fifty pound bags of corn meal for a new recipe. The shipment arrived with a serious problem – rodents had enjoyed feasting upon the 2500 pound pallet of goodies, leaving amazing quantities of holes and droppings behind.
WebstaurantStore folks didn’t seem to grasp the problem at first, even with detailed photos, but eventually relented and offered to replace the shipment at no cost. Fine and dandy, but they declared that the “damage” had been done in shipping, so assistance in removing the 2 ½ TONS of defective product from our facility was denied. Note that the rodent droppings were INSIDE of the cardboard and plastic wrappings that the order was shipped in. I am quite certain that the UPS freight truck did not have a large population of rodents awaiting their next meal - note that a pallet of wheat right next to it showed no evidence of this problem.
We’ve also asked specifically what would be done to prevent this problem in the future and have received no responses, which is most disturbing, given the serious health issues that rodent droppings might cause. We and other distillers and food processors need definitive answers to this ASAP.
