("Constant confirmation calls...", though, is a bit of a stretch, since we only make one call per order.)
Those calls are as short and to the point as we can make them... Confirm the machine in question, confirm the quantities, thank you for your order, done.
While the vast majority of our customers are stunned that an internet company (or any company, these days) calls to thank them for their order and verify its correctness before shipping and appreciate the personal touches that we add to our order process, I, too, am one of those people who doesn't like being called unnecessarily.
In this case, though, the reason I made the decision several years ago to call our customers the day of their order is that we found so many people ordered the wrong products (thanks to manufacturers who make machine series/model numbers sound/look so similar and cartridge numbers that far too frequently have numbers that overlap, or, in many cases, they simply didn't take the time to verify what printer they have and picked the first model number they thought was theirs (HP4 vs. HP4V, HP 1005 vs. HP P1005, etc.)
Since we have a "no time limit", "no fine print" guarantee (where we pay to get the product back to us if you are unhappy for any reason, even if you inadvertently ordered the wrong item, pay to have the correct item shipped out once the ordering mistake was uncovered, etc.) the out-of-pocket expense to us and the extreme frustration to the customer who found out only upon opening the box they ordered the wrong thing, then had to contact us, arrange for their incorrect item to be shipped back, pack it back up, wait for the replacement, etc., far outweighed the potential negatives of the confirmation calls.
I am also concerned, though, that you gave our product shipping and delivery process only a "fair" rating, because we strive to ship all orders the same day we receive them (assuming it is a business day before 4pm ET) and we achieve that 99.8% of the time (still not perfect, but we agonize over that, and most everything else we do, every day.)
I really do appreciate all input (whether favorable or not) and take it all to heart to make our company the perfect "10" we strive to be.
