"Buyer beware! This company misrepresented the product I tried to purchase and then tried to extort from me additional fees in-order to receive actual product. Threatened to apply various fees and charges. Nothing short of fraud."
"The prices look good, but I was informed that the camera I wanted was "gray market from China" and carried a 10 day warranty and came with no box or accessories, if I wanted the "USA retail version" It would be $100 more (a price that is quite easy to beat). I find it somewhat shady to not disclose this information on their site."
"They are EXTREMELY DISGRACEFUL. First, they would ask you to call them back(like everyone else). Then a rep will ask you to confirm the 3 digit number on the back of your credit card.(sure) After I told them the number, the rep asked me to buy a battery for $50 immdiately. I said NO!!...why should I buy an extra battery if the camera comes with one? he said the camera does not come with a battery.(what?) I asked them how come there is a camera in this world would not come with a battery ? Then he tried to ignore me and chit chat with his colleague? what the heck? I am the customer here!!!(hellooo??)(NO REPECT AT ALL!!) I asked him the same question again after he was done talking to his colleague. he said that's how it is!(in a VERY IMPOLITE way!!) I was really mad at that time and he asked me to buy the battery again. I said no!!...why should I buy from you if I have to pay more? then he said you want to cancel your order then? I said yeah and I just hung up.
This company should be shut down and all reps and owners of this company should go to jail forever!!!"
"Very bad experience. Bait-and-switch bundling scheme which, if not accepted, results in order cancellation. Customer service would NOT deal with the problem and has not responded as they said they would. Great price on a camera, but if you don't buy the $350 in overpriced accessories, suddenly it's on backorder, and then an order cancellation shows up in e-mail as if I'd requested that. Customer service said they'd fix the problem and ship, but I've heard nothing from these people."
"buyer beware I ordered a Minolta z6 list price of $259.00. Company sent email stating problem w/order, they tried to convience me I needed all
sorts of additional equipment coming to a grand total of $489.00,at which time I cancelled order. I am still holding confirmation to make sure they dont try and run on my credit card. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is"
"I purchased a Nikon 8800 camera from Photo Nation for $505.00. I received an email that there was a problem with my order. I called 1-***-***-****, extension 215 and spoke to "Jason". Jason said I would need some accessories to operate the camera. He told me they had good deals on Nikon lenses and accessories. I bought a wideangle and telephoto lens from them and a warranty for the camera. My total is $2,175.70.
The package came with the camera and "Crystal Vision" lenses and "Merkury Optics" filters, instead of the Nikon products I ordered.
I called "Jason" back to complain about the product switch. He referred me to another "Jason". This person told me to send the lenses back and I would have to pay $250 additional for the Nikon products. The first "Jason" told me that USA Photo Nation" does not carry Nikon lenses.
If you are thinking about buying from these crooks, DON'T. If you are just finding out that you have been "had", go to the New York Attorney General's site and file an electronic COMPLAINT. You will also want to fill out the written complaint. Call the manufacturer and tell them about the way this company does business. GET THE WORD OUT!! Put these guys away before they victimise someone else!
"
"I didn't believe it but I should have. Bait and Switch. You will NEVER EVER get what you ordered from these ppl unless you change your order to include several hundred dollars of accessories. Took them a month and a half to finally just cancel my order stating that they'll never get it in stock despite their website saying it's in stock. Very pushy sales ppl. I hope this company goes down hard. They are lying scam artists."
"Ordered a camcorder for a great price, then got a call the next day from "Kenny" telling me that the camcorder was a replacement model and that if I wanted the full retail "USA" kit, which includes the software, charger, etc..., I would have to pay $250.00 more. I told him this was an example of false advertising because the description of the camera at the price I ordered it included a reference to the software. I said I would contact the BBB first and then post my review of his scam web-site on every review site I could find. His response fluctuated between threats of charging me a cancellation fee, to offering me the full kit at the original price as long as I didn't post any reviews. He finally cancelled the order and sent me an email to that effect, although I don't know yet that he actually did."
"Bait and switch...scam artists. Thank goodness, I had read the opinions here first and then decided to see what would happen. Great low price on thew Nikon DX2 but it was "too" low to be true as it turns out. I did order but then got the email the next day everyone here has talked about. It said I need to call Kenny. He proceeded to tell me the Nikon for the low price was just the body without any box or other materials...said I needed to order the USA boxed Nikon rather than the Chinese body-only they had for the low price. I know that Nikon makes the D2X in japan and there is only one body possible, but I did want the boxed version. So the games began. They threatened to charge a 7% restock charge when I said cancel the order, but I had already called my credit card and knew they hadn't charged anything...namely because the dollar amt of the camera is so large I'd have to preapprove the charge anyway. We went around and around with them offering accessories priced through the ceiling ($200 for the battery which I know is only $56). I got the boxed version for less than the MSRP with shipping thrown in, so all in all I saved about $600+. The "USA" boxed version was actually the Japanese market version but that has some advantages in itself. All in all I feel like taking a shower after dealing with them.
I'll never buy from them again.
Jim"
"USA PhotoNation – LOOK OUT …These guys are the classic bait and switch con artist. I was looking for a Dimage Z3 digital camera and found the Minolta Dimage Z6 Digital Camera (Silver) advertises on their site at $269.00. I called before I placed me online order and I spoke with a sale rep at USA PhotoNation and asked if this product was new, a refurbished or a gray market product (not made for the USA) and did it come with a USA warranty? The USA PhotoNation sale rep told me “that they don’t sell gray market products, only USA products and this product was new and with warranty”
I then proceeded to order the product online. During the CHECK OUT process, there is a required “TERM AND AGREEMENT” that has to be checked and approved before you can finalize the purchase. These terms were almost longer than then the terms I had to sign when I bought my house. Ad they are only viewable in a very small window box and you cannot not print or right click to paste any of the terms and text. It was almost imposable to read fully.
After I had placed my order online, I received an email from USA PhotoNation requesting me to contact Kenny at their service department. Once I finally got “Kenny” on the line, Kenny was a very fast and over powering talking sales rep. Kenny stated asking if I wanted any accessories to go along with my order. I had reviewed their accessories offering and they were charging 40 times the normal amount for all their accessories. I had told them I was covered in the accessory area and didn’t need any. (I have been a manufacture of wireless accessories for 13 years and I know this is were a company makes most of their profits, but these prices were ridiculous)
Kenny proceeded to get ugly and said that the Minolta Dimage Z6 Digital Camera that I had ordered was a GRAY MARKET product and it didn’t come with a warranty and that they were out of stock too. Kenny did say that they have a new USA Dimage Z6 in stock for $399 plus shipping. I told Kenny I had just spoken with a sales rep via phone and he said it was in stock and not gray market, Kenny said “that that guy was wrong”.
I then told Kenny to cancel my order and forget the whole thing. Kenny then said that they already had charged my credit card and if I did cancel, I would be charged a 50% cancellations fee. I told Kenny that there was no way they could have charged my credit card and my visa was through my credit union and I could easily fight and dispute the charges ( I have done this before). Kenny said that the 50% cancellation fee is non fightable because of the contract that I had agreed to during the check out process.
This is were I decided to see if I could “haggle” with Kenny with the price (I do this all the time in the sales world) I went from $399 to $369 to $329 and made him throw in a camera case too. This price was still lower than most and it seemed to be the easies way out of this issue.
Right after my phone conversation with the order, I received an email stating that the order has been finalized and will receive a tracking number soon. The product shipped quickly and the product was indeed a new USA Dimage Z6 and works great!
I was happy with the product, but not happy with the supplier that is bait and switch con artist.
FYI, if you want an extended warranty, you can get a 2 years extended warranty from Minolta’s web site when you register it online for $49. This is an extra 2 year over the one year you get with the new camera for a total of 3 years coverage.

"This is a bait and switch operation. They advertise very low prices on their web site then call you with an upsell. I ordered a digital camera and was told that the price was for a replacement unit only and did not include a battery, battery charger, users manual, etc. I will never buy anything from USA Photo Nation again, and I encourage anyone reading this to shop elsewhere."
"Bait and switch. You think you are getting the full retail product but in fact are only getting the camera body (minus the battery, software, cables, etc.). Then they charge you very high prices to get those missing pieces. I discovered this during the phone call prior to them actually shipping but after they had charged my credit card. They said they would refund my money but would charge me a restocking fee (even though there wasn't anything to restock) since they had to deal with the refund. I began to complain. Bill insisted that he could add me to a "global internet company black list" if I continued to complain to him and that all companies including big ones like Best Buy and such would never take an order from me again. Obviously a bunch of BS. I then got irate and he refunded my money claiming to be a nice guy.
How do they sleep at night?!"
"WELL, its been an interesting day today reading about a site I almost confirmed an order with. I'm glad that I had the forethought to punch in USA Photo Nation + scam into google. Same story as everyone else here; I ordered a camera at a great price and my mom was called to provide credit card numbers and a password for this account 'to confirm'. When she called me to tell me this, I thought NO WAY should anyone be confused about information that I TYPED IN (what, did I not print clearly?) With all the scams nowadays, you would think that scamming companies would realize that this type of 'confirming' raises red flags all over the place. Anyway, my mom was right not to give them any information (she didn't have any anyways, thank goodness); I googled this and saw all the complaints. So I called to put a hold on the credit card and also called 'Jaime' to cancel the order. Before he even got a word in edgewise (or got my name from me), I said that I was calling to cancel an order (forcing myself to sound sweet and apologetic). When the expected "Why?" blurted out of his mouth, I reasoned that I had mistakenly purchased a regular old (inexpensive) camera when what I wanted to purchase from them was a (very expensive) VIDEO camera from his site very soon. He was placated immediately and said something to the effect of "There, it's cancelled, okay?" and tried to hang up. I stopped him and got his name as well (not sure what it would do for me, but hey).
I'm detailing this call here for future reference, as I, too, looked through these complaints to know what has worked with these people in the past, in order to stop my order immediately (before it was confirmed, let alone shipped). I checked the status of my order and it does say cancelled, so...I'll keep a watch.
Here's the good part. I've seen what people have written about the BBB, some people seems to think that it has effect, some don't (doesn't hurt to file a complaint, though). I've also seen that a lot of people have found this through Froogle.
So I called them.
I explained that I didn't know what they could do about it, but that they were promoting a fradulent website, offering the public this type of "value". The lady there was really nice and listened to my experience (and some of those listed here as well), and seemed very concerned that they were promoting a scam. She took down my info and both names of this company (USA Photo Nation and RadioActiveDeals), saying that she would get this to the right people to see what (if anything) can be done. I was certain to mention that a lot of people had found this scam though Froogle and that soliciting this as a "Froogle" choice will most definitely damage their reputation and keep people from trusting this resource. She agreed.
Let's hope that this will do SOME good, at least to help keep more of the unsuspecting public from shelling out money to this company.
I would always recommend Googling "(name of business) + scam" if anyone suspects any kind of foul play from another company or website. It has helped me tremendously."
"Lame - I placed my order online for a digital camera. They called back within 24 hours to get more information, check to see if I wanted any lenses or memory for it. They then informed me that the price did not include the battery. I told them I would call back later that day after reasearching whether I wanted the battery and charger at their price. I opted to buy the battery from another reseller, and called an dleft a message. I called the next day, left another message. Left another message the next day. called two days after that, was put on hold until I was disconnected. I called back and eventually was connected with my 'customer service' rep, let him know to ship it as order. received an email 2 hours later saying it would be backordered for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Their web site still shows the camera in stock currently. Hopefully I have managed to cancel my order now. One more company with my credit card number..."
"I ordered a camera body for $589. I called them to ensure it came with the warrenty, battery, and software. They called and said what I wanted really cost $800+ -- this is clearly GROSS DECEPTION and FALSE ADVERTISING. I told them what the web site and their staff said, but the person did not make good on their promises. I canceled the order."
