"These guys are crooks. I purchased a high end prosumer digital camera online at a rock bottom price. In two days they asked me to call them about the order. When I called, they asked if I wanted a battery, a charger, cords, software and warranty as well, which would add $190 to the price. Typical "bait and bite" scheme".
The good news is that at least they did not charge my credit card. Hence, no crimes were committed and they can stay in business. I hope the state of New York will enact consumer protection legislation outlawing such selling practices."
"Another bait and switch. Ordered online, then called a couple of days later to confirm over the phone. They confirmed the camera was in stock but they left out the battery and charger and had them as separate kit for more $$$. Another example of a bait and switch!!! I'm glad that I happened across ResellerRatings.com before the order shipped."
"Another victim of usaphotonation.com
On Spt.22nd placed an order for Sony DSC-W7 after searching for prices on the net. Surely those crooks had one of lowest prices. I took a bait and ordered my camera using their web page. Very next day an e-mail tells me to contact Kenny at ext.214 regarding my order. Since USA Photo Nation is closed at saturdays I had to wait till sunday 09/25. While waiting I found this great site! I was shocked when I did learn with what scums I try to make business.
After reading all posts that refer to USA photo nation I was ready to chew on Kenny if he tries their tactics.
10:35am on 09/25 I called Kenny. After standard hello and giving my invoice number Kenny starts his high pitch song about camera being non USA market made.
BINGO! I was sure after that very first line from Kenny's mouth that I am next in line to be scammed.
I just replied when he is going to stop his bull$#%! Kenny only said "WHOAHHHH your order is cancelled" then promptly hanged up!
Thank you RessellerRatings.com! I did learn my lesson and had a chance to counter crooks from USA Photo Nation."
"I made the mistake to not check on this company because I was in a hurry. They use the "bait and switch" method perfectly.
I placed my order yesterday and today received a call from thier sales rep to verify my address. He asked if I was aware that this model does not include cables, software, etc... because it is a replacement model. I asked where it stated in thier website. He could not point me to the location. He tried to sell me the package to include the other items. I said I was no longer interested because they are running a scam. He laughed and offered me several "deals" on it and kept dropping the price but I still cancelled it. I asked if they run bait and swich on everyone and he tried quickly to get me off the phone.
I notified my credit card company of this but they had not received a charge. Hopefully there is no issue but I will have to watch it. Luckily, the address I was shipping to was not the same as my home address and they could not ship it anyway. I WOULD NOT do any business with these guys. These guys are running a total scam.
In addition, if you do purchase something and learn the hard way, be sure to CHANGE YOUR CREDIT CARD #. I had mine sold to a scammer and it seems to coincide with my dealings with USA Photonation. Be warned."
"FRAUD, This company shows an item which is not what they sell you!!! 2 days later they send an email that you need to call in. They then tell you that the item does not include anything, no batteries, cables, nothing!! Even when in the description it lists/shows them!! They say that in order to get what you thought you were getting you must pay to get the 'USA package' which includes all of the basic cables, documentation, etc. They say that they are selling replacement items only and compare the prices to BestBuy. This place is complete FRAUD and BAIT & SWITCH. STAY AWAY. "
"The store advertised a Canon SD500 at a price which sounded too good to be true; about $100 cheaper than most other on-line offerings. It WAS too good to be true. I was instructed to contact the store the day after I placed my order; to be informed that "..we are out of the Camera." Then I was offered the opportunity to buy the EXACT/SAME/IDENTICAL CAMERA for about $100.00 more than their adverstised price if I "upgraded" to a boundled package which would include a 256 memory card. BAIT AND SWITCH tactics! "
"The manager fradulantly advertises cameras at low prices but does not inform you on the web site that it is a 'replacement camera' which means it is shipped without all the normal parts. There is also has a 7% cancellation charge hidden in the legalise. I would advise avoiding dealings with this merchant at all costs.
Returning the camera and getting a refund is also a hassel in progress. We are told a different story each time we speak with them. "
"I spoke with a sales person regarding a panasonic camcorder.
I asked the following w/ answer:
if the battery is included? NO
what is the difference between the product they sell vs. bestbuy (US store)? ans: one is bestbuy and one is us.
I told him he was a funny guy. he said "where are you from... south Africa.
Salesman laughed.
Here is another example of a scam. No battery with camcorder!!! battery/charger should be included in the camcorder. Not to mention extremely insulting/rude saleperson.
btw, i was transfer 2 times when I asked if the item is brand new and hung up 1x."
"Same scam as everyone else here is reporting: ordered a camera, got the email to call Frank regarding my order, tried twice to call Frank, emailed sales support, was told to call customer service, emailed sales support to cancel my order. So far no charge to my card. Thinking of blocking them from my card. Kinda spooky, if you ask me."
"I ordered a Sony camcorder because the price was outrageously low. The next day I got an email that there was a problem with processing my order. I called back and spoke with Peter who told me that the camera did not come with a battery or charger. He also said I needed to purchase the extended warranty. When he told me the final price I was shocked and cancelled the order. He then said I would be charged a $22. restocking fee. I replied that this was totally unethical and would be reported. After several minutes of haggling the order was cancelled with no restocking fee charged. Please DO NoT deal with these people!!"
"Ordered a Canon Powershot A95 camera, and was told it was coming in and would be shipped by the next week. Then, I got an email asking me to phone the store. I called, and they tried to sell me a lot of accessories, which I didn't want. When I declined to buy any of these (IMO) overpriced accessories, I was told that the camera might take 2 months to be in stock. FWIW, you can get stock for this camera to any store in North America guaranteed in a couple of weeks. I cancelled the order completely, and will never deal with these people again."
"Outragious bait and switcher. Misleading advertising does not list missing accessories typically bundled for retail sale. Customer service staff surly and aggressive. Wanted to charge a cancellation fee when confronted with fraudulent practices."
"I attempted to purchase a Nikon D70S from USA Photo Nation. Just like everyone else, I got the email saying I needed to call Donald. He called me before I called him and then proceeded to tell me the camera didn't have batteries, a charger, or anything of use. I immediately asked to cancel my order, and I was then berrated for at least 5 minutes. I was called Farmer Brown (since I'm from Alabama), and an immature 4 year-old. I allowed Donald to speak all he wanted because I was confused as to what was happening. I still don't understand it, but reading other reviews help make sense of the situation. I have never been talked to like that before, and wouldn't want any of you to go through it. DON'T ORDER FROM USA PHOTO NATION."
"I recently purchased a sony camcorder from this business. Froogle showed them as having the best price. I recieved the infamous email to call "Jason" and go through his hardsell routine. I am stationed in Iraq right now and have not had phone service since then. I had a funny feeling about my order since I know I put the correct billing information. I found this website and now I don't know what to do. They cannot call me since I dont have a phone number here in Iraq. They haven't charged me yet. Has anyone ever tried just not calling them? Its been almost 2 weeks since they sent the email and I haven't heard anything else. Ill just have to put a block on them with my credit card company and ignore them although I am tempted to call them up and hear the bs they put everyone through. It should be good for a laugh."
"After ordering, I received an email stating "We are attempting to contact you regarding your order" and telling me to call "Donald". When I called, Donald told me the camera came with no accessories or battery and was a Chinese-only non-English camera (actually, he didn't tell me it was a Chinese-only camera until I told him to go ahead and ship the bare-bones camera w/o accessories or battery). He said an extra $200.00 would be needed for the English version of the camera. None of this was listed on their web site. When I told Donald I felt deceived, he raised his voice and berated me for not "doing my research" and not reading carefully. He continued talking over me, not allowing me to speak. He threatened to hang up and charge my credit card. I felt emotionally molested by this guy. Unfortunately, in the weirdness of the moment, I consented to pay the extra $200.00 (thinking it might still be a good price for this camera). After that conversation, I called back and talked to another salesman and he said the camera I was interested in was discontinued and not available. 5 days after I placed the order (with accelerated shipping) I received an email message indicating that the order had shipped. However, the UPS tracking number is invalid. I have no idea if anything has actually been shipped. The credit card HAS been billed. At this point I'm thinking I'll refuse shipment and dispute the charges. ... Do not order from this company. They are even trying to make it difficult to cancel the order by requesting a fax."
