"I tried to purchase the Panasonic VDR-M53 online from USA Photo Nation.
I received a phone call 2 days after I placed the order. I figured this is unusual since I paid extra to have it shipped faster. They were asking me if I would like to add to my purchase. Such as, a battery or a power cord, since this "factory sealed, brand new" camera did not come with either. That option package was about $100 extra.
First, how many factory packaged camera DO NOT come with a battery?
The prices are great, but it is obviously because you only recieve half of what you purchase.
I will steer clear of this seller in the future, it is the next best thing to a scam from what I see."
"This place is a scam. I tried to buy A95 digital camera, A guy named Jason Called me telling me that the screen would be in Japanese unless I ordered software for it. for additional $60. I checked the site again and it specifies that all the software is included in the original purchase price. I called back the famous Jason and tried to reach his supervisor. At that moment he said that I was already speaking to supervisor and that there was noone above him in the compnay. BEWARE OF THAT SCAM... they finally told me that the order was cancelled, and so far I didn't get any charges in my credit card. If I will I will dispute the charges... but hopefully nothing else will happens"
"I was looking for a Canon Rebel XT and found that USAphotonation.com had a very good price on the black version with the 18-55 lens. The website also listed it as "available". I placed the order and hoped to see the camera in about a week. I never received a confirming email so I called them three days later. The gentlemen found my order and said that they had over sold the item. I mentioned that the website listed it as avaialable, he apologized but said it would be about 3-4 weeks before it would be available. I instructed him to leave it on backorder and I would just wait. After learning that several of these low priced websites are just scams I decided to test something. I called them again and asked to place an order for the camera along with batteries and memory. I was told it could ship the following morning. I asked again to confirm that the camera was available and he said yes. Then I challenged him and asked if they could ship the camera and with the memory and batteries how come they couldn't ship the camera only. He explained that they are purchased from China as a kit only. I told him that I didn't believe that explanation and he said that I was just wasting his time. I told him to cancel my backorder and that I believed their method of doing business was a scam. He said thanks for the advise and hung up. "
"Bought a Minolta Dimage Z5, the price on the website was 299, but they contacted me by email to verify the order and as so many customers on this site tell, they said that it did not come with a batery and the software and all and convinced me to ad an extra kit with charger and baterries + a lenscap, + the strap and so onn for another 110 dollar which bruogth the sum up to 453 dollars in the end, I am satisfied with the camera, but the way they do deals has a bad aftertaste."
"Worse company I ever bought from. Highly discourage. Called several times about incomplete order, never received, finally spoke with owner who was rude and obnoxious. Received the standard Sony battery and the owner told me that was the extended battery to them. "
"I bought a Canon Powershot SD500 Camera. After placing the order the customer service called me to point out that the camera comes without a battery. Only later I found out, that Canon always includes the battery. Instead of charging me the normal price around $ 30, they talked me into buying a 'special' batterie for $ 130. The sales person claimed he would throw in some other goodies for free, plus I agreed to buy an additional 1GB Memory Card and Card reader. The goodies were absolutly useless. Before i knew it, I got a package price of $800, which was way overpriced, as I found out later. Overall the customer service proofed to sell lies after lies and and bullied me into closing the deal. After several heavy debates with the customer service, I sent everything back. I was promised a 7% cancellation fee and I am now waiting to hear if the money comes through. I would never ever touch this company again! I prefered to lose out by paying the restocking fee than keeping the goods and be reminded of my terrible experience."
"BEWARE! This is a storefront for extortion. They advertise low prices and after you place the order, they ask to contact them to "inform you" that the camera you purchased does not come with cables, software or the standard memory card and is a "Chinese language version"; therefore they claim that an additional $100 kit is needed in order to have the camera operational. JUST PLAIN LIES! On top of that, when I refused the kit, they charged me $29.95 for "canceling" the order. These people should be trialed for EXTORTION!"
"These are the worst liars and bait & switch scammers! I sent an e-mail to their sales dept to inquire about whether the Canon SD500 I wanted to order was a US model with a US warranty and US package. The guy said yes and confirmed the price. I ordered the camera and 2 days later some other scammer called me back pretending that my credit card didn't go throough (another lie) and said the camera is an import and nothing was included with it. The liar (Jason, who wouldn't say his last name) said he owned the company and that he had no idea why anyone would have told me what they told me on the phone 2 days before. He wouldn't honor what their sales person told me. I cancelled the order right then and will NEVER deal with these lying scammers again."
"Actually I cancelled the order of a Canon 20D before my credit card was charge. (I WAS LUCKY) Ordered on line and I GOT THE FAMOUS EMAIL . . . "PLEASE CONTACT US ABOUT YOUR ORDER".
I dealt with the sales manager of USA PhotoNation.com who was very nice and advised me to change my order and add a few more accessories, which increased my original order from $1300 to over $1800. This made me leary enough to check them out. I saw the reviews here and called my credit card company who confirmed no charges were made. I call "sales manager" back less than a half hour laterof the sale) and asked him not to do anything until I get an all clear from the Mrs. . . he agreed. In short, I later called to cancel the order and was informed of a "7% PROCESSING FEE"! He said it was stated on their website, it is not, exactly. Their policy states and I quoted it to him . . ."Your credit card will be charged immediately after your order is placed. (It was not.) Once we charge your credit card your order will be processed." . . . Since my card was not charged, it couldn't have been processed.
Even after I said I may be a returning client and actually read his company's policy off the website, he still said it the charge of $128 will be placed on my card which constitutes the 7%. FOR NOTHING! There should be a "hateful" level to this Resellerratings.com I've had root-canals that were mor pleasurable than dealing with USA PhotoNation.com
ALSO TOLD HIM RESELLERRATING HAD A RATING OF BELOW 1 AND NOW I KNOW WHY, SO IF YOU SEE SATISFACTORY RATING AFTER TODAY, BE SUSPICIOUS. FUNNY I DIDN'T SEE ONE SATISFIED CUSTOMER RATING BEFORE TODAY."
"I ordered a Sony Cybershot P200, the next day customer service called to confirm my ordered. They offered me extra accessories, which I did not want, and they did not push me to buy them. They provided quick feed back and were very helpful. My order arrived promptly in 3 days."
"Old School Bait & Switch - you buy online, then they call you to tell you that you "need" lots of things that should come standard, like a simple warranty and a standard battery for the camera. It says nowhere on the product page that this is the case. Bottom Line: the all-in cost is higher than the price they quote."
"Had no reply within 24 hours of order - called to obtain status - told that I needed to order several more compoments including a warrenty.
Canceled order."
"My experience is the same as other "victims." This is a bait-and-switch outfit. They advertise very low prices so they come up low on froogle.com searches, but then after you order, you get the email/phone call asking for more information. This usually first includes the 3-4 digits on your card and then a "reminder" that this is not the "USA retail version"...meaning that it doesn't come with batteries, chargers, and other "accessories." They then try to sell you the "extras" that make this outfit not competitive at all. I wanted to cancel my order (like others have tried to do) but was then "reminded" that I would incur a cancellation penalty as it has already been "processed." Like others I said that I would dispute the charge on my credit card. The salesman tried to "reason" with me, but only got me more frustrated at which time I hung up. Soon later I got an email saying that my order was cancelled.
Note that they do *NOT* include any caveats on their website saying that the cameras/camcorders do not come with standard accessories...how would one assume otherwise????"
"I don't understand how these people can sleep at night. This is your standard "bait and switch" operation. They advertise a price that's absurdly low and then try to sell you accessories at 6 or more times the retail price.
I ordered a Cannon Powershot SD500 from them for the bargain price of 359.00. They called me back to let me know that I forgot to input my 3 digit credit card verification number (which their form never asked for). After giving the sales guy this information he asked me which battery I would like to with this camera because it doesn't come with a battery. He quoted me a price of $120 for a $20 battery or $140 for the extended battery plus upgraded overnight shipping. I told him to just send the camera out with out the battery (knowing that I could buy the batter at $20 from another store). He said okay, but minutes later I received an email informing me that my camera has been backordered 4-6 weeks. That’s strange. He just promised to overnight me the camera if I bought the extended life battery.
These people are crooks. Do not buy anything from them. "
"Reall bad store!
They offer the Sony HC20 for $279, very low price. I placed the order at 1am this morning, this afternoon I was told it doesn't include the battery and charger, I have to pay for extra $149 for that. Then I told them I want to cancel the order if that's the case, well, I was told I couldn't cancel the order or I have to pay for the cancel fee which is at least 15% of the order. Oh, I can't believe that. It only has been 12 hours since I placed my order. I did online shopping lots of times, never heard that. Finally, they impolitely agreed to cancel my order after I told them I will have my credit company to dispute the charge."
