"Although US appliances offer low priced products I believe there is still room for improvement in customer service. I placed two orders, one for kitchen appliances (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microware) and another for washer and dryer. Both orders totaled over $5,000.
My stove arrived damaged most probably during shipping. Since the damage was in one of the side panels it was decided to send a replacement part and then wait for a service technician to install it instead of replacing the stove. I was told as a suggestion from US appliances not to use the stove in the meantime because they were not going to be able to replace it in case it was needed.
I personally believe the stove and refrigerator are essential appliances unlike the dishwasher and microwave. The delivery of the replacement panel took about a week and when I called to schedule the service appointment I was told it was going to take another week. In other words, my wife and I were already eating sandwiches, outside in restaurants and microwave food for about a week and now we had to wait another week to get the parts installed. Since this was unacceptable I decided to install the parts myself. In addition, even though I had paid for the “white glove service” (unpacking and delivery of appliances inside the house) I had to unpack and move the stove myself because it was left in the garage for the service technician to perform the work.
What I think should have happened? The parts should have been delivered overnight or two-day delivery and the technician appointment one or two days after. I spent over $3,000 in appliances and the US appliances could not spend $100-$200 in overnight shipping or two-day delivery? Furthermore, when my separate washer and dryer order arrived the washer was damaged as well. I definitely did not accept the appliance and sent it back for replacement due to my previous experience although due to the magnitude of the damage I do not think it could have been fixed anyways. It has been seven days today and the new washer has not even been delivered.
Lastly, the delivery time and date was also a hassle. I paid an extra fee to schedule delivery at a specific time and day for the kitchen appliances and they attempted in a different time and day. As a result we were not available to receive the product and had to reschedule. When I received the dryer and washer (damaged) I was given a six hour window and they still arrived an hour later.
Two areas where US appliances can improve:
- Have a communication with delivery companies to make them somehow liable for damages so they can take better care of shipments. One of the delivery guys mentioned the damage to the stove was caused by a forklift even though they have been told not to use them.
- Have a better and faster response when appliances arrive damaged. Low priced products does not supersede good customer service.
- Improve communication with delivery companies for better logistics and delivery schedules. "

"The appliances are great but the delivery was not. We paid extra for the white glove delivery and the movers did not even have the tools needed to remove the handles of the refridgerator to get it through the front door. They stated that they would call and get the white glove delivery charge taken off bt that has yet to be accomplished. They did not take off the packaging or haul it off. If they follow up with removing the charge for a service they did not do then that will be fine. I have already recomended your site resulting in another purchase of a kitchen package by my builder for his girlfriend."
