"These people are clearly crooks. I don't know how they are allowed to operate. Is there no regulation against this obvious scam?
Wirefly started it, Verizon is a participant and Inphonic is the perpetrator. I want my $100 rebate
I followed all the rules. They came up with a bogus technicality.(Invalid invoice)Avoid these people."
"I qualified for $250 rebate on 2 Nextel Motorolas purchased 9/2/04 from Wirefly (aka InPhonic I eventually learned, but too late)Submitted EVERYTHING properly, ontime, perfect.
Rebate denied. Spoke to rep (in DC) and was assured rebate would follow as it looked correct to her. Another 'denied' letter. Tried phone and resubmitting copies (I kept copies of EVERYTHING) Denied again, but for a DIFFERENT reason. OK. Went through local AG. Local AG office said they never had this kind of problem to this extent before. InPhonic people were rude, ineffectual, passed messages on and on to the 'next' rep. and basically told AG person that they 'do this all the time and to give it up because the customer never wins', so, even AG gave up and suggested I go through DC BBC,which I had done 3/30/05. Finally received reply 11/18/05 from BBC in DC which basically states "we have not received a reply to our requests for a response" and suggested I "contact an attorney or (my) local or state office of consumer affairs". Helllooo?- been there-done that! I am already out $250 AND over $20 in postage AND "time". Apparently InPhonic has BBC too. Maybe they're right- they do this every day. Imagine a few thousand $250 'denials'per day? - That's allotta cha-ching! I figure it's my fault in the end- I didn't do my due diligence- I never researched WireFly (if I had, I never would have made the purchase. The online complaints speak for themselves) and maybe I would have seen the connection to InPhonic which is a big, bad, powerful MotherCompany sprouting and supporting companies like WireFly, TreoCentral, Cellular Choices, Liberty Wireless, and StarNumber, Inc- ALL owned by InPhonic. I should follow suit and just give up. Maybe. Or maybe get someone to help me start a class action lawsuit."
"I'm am very happy with my Wirefly purchase. The site had the best deal on the new Samsung phone I wanted, even before any rebates. They are the biggest seller of phones online, but even with all that volume they shipped my phone the next morning (I ordered late at night).
The third-party research company Keynote Systems, I just read, rates the Wirefly customer service experience very high:
http://www.wirefly.net/articles/1105/wirefly-customer-experience-award.htm
Full disclosure: I know someone who works at InPhonic, but I never would have ordered if I didn't think it would be a good experience. And I wasn't disappointed."
"I was really hesitant to order from Wirefly/Inphonic, because of all the bad reviews on this site, but I couldn't beat the price when I was buying 2 LG VX9800's for my wife and I. So I went for it anyway.
To my pleasant surprise, I received both the phones within a week of purchasing, and while there were no rebate forms in the box for the phones, they were available for download on Wirefly's website (on your personal order status page). So the rebate itself is now off in the hands of a "fulfillment center."
Frankly, even if I never get the rebates, the phones were still a good deal (saving $100/each over the Verizon store), and it they filled the order quickly and got my service up with Verizon just as fast.
If I do get the rebates, then the phones were a *GREAT* deal.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the speed and processing of the order from this company, and would probably buy from them again."
"I purchased a Two year Verizon contract and a "free after rebates" Motorola E815 From Wirefly. I did not receive currently dated rebate forms (VERIZON rebate forms) supposedly worth $250, so through a looong "dance" with Wirefly, I finally received updated forms via eMail and printed them out.
Meanwhile, I activated the phone and tossed the box. In SMALL PRINT, NOT LARGE PRINT on EVERY rebate form, the UPC barcode from the BOX is required. When I contacted both Verizon AND Wirefly to explain my dilemma, I got basically the same "sorry buddy, you screwed up when you threw away the box" reply. This is basically a SCAM of GIGANTIC proportions when you think of how many hapless folks simply toss the box without adequate WARNINGS against it on the forms which require a "customer loyalty" waiting period before they can be used. Bottom line: I am out $250.00 RETAIL for the "free" phone and both Wirefly AND share in the ENORMOUS profits of issuing ZERO rebates AND sigining up a TWO YEAR USEAGE CONTRACT. THEY are guilty of INADEQUATE CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION which is grounds for a class action lawsuit in my book.
Just like the petroleum companies, these people are THIEVES preying on hapless customers with "bait and switch" and "small print" tactics. I have been a Verizon customer for almost 10 years and I HATE their deceptive practices on charges and services they advertise but never deliver. "
"I order a i830 phone from Wirefly on 18 Oct 05 and I got a phone ona i710 phone on 1 Nov, I have return the phone on the same day. and I haven't gotting the phone I order and I haven't hear for them. "
"I ordered two Motorola V710s. I received them with no problem. I have saved the boxes (UPC) and I have waited the appropriate 180 days and I am mailing the rebates with with the UPC and a copy of my phone bill. I lost the rebate forms, however I hunted down the email confirmation and it had a link. No problem downloading the PDF and printing all four rebates. Time consuming, but worth it if it all works out. We will see... I understand everyone's frustration. My suggestion: http://complaint.bbb.org/ Also, buyer beware... read the terms on the rebates before you buy. There are a lot of steps... I guess they hope that most people will not do it. "
"We were having lots of trouble with Sprint and were waiting until the end of our 2-year contract to change cellular providers. We went on Consumer Reports and found that no cellular companies have a good rep, but Verizon had the least bad. Searched for cellular plans on the net. Found one that fit and looked at phones available. Only needed to make calls but WireFly offers a couple of $250 @ value Motorola E815 phones for free. How can you resist that? We definitely should have. They sent me an email confirming my order and telling me that the rebate forms would come in the product shipping box. They didn’t. Just an invoice and a bunch of ads. I tossed the boxes, got the phones activated and went on a weeks vacation. On our return, I went on line to hopefully get some rebate forms. Well the WireFly site is not what could be termed “user friendly” especially when it comes anything rebate related. Several links for forms didn’t work, others got the wrong forms. Finally got 4 of the 6 forms required. To this day haven’t gotten the other two forms. On the forms I was able to download, guess what? Remember the boxes I tossed? Well in order to get the rebates, one of the many different things that must be submitted with your rebate app is, you guessed it, the UPC code off the box (that I tossed cuz the rebate forms telling me this DIDN’T come in the box as they originally advised). And how’s this for just one of the rebate terms on one of the forms? “REBATE MUST BE POSTMARKED NO EARLIER THAN 180 DAYS AFTER THE ACTIVATION DATE SHOWN ON YOUR SALES RECEIPT AND NO LATER THAN 210 DAYS AFTER THIS ACTIVATION DATE.
After 4 days of searching and trying various phone numbers, I finally spoke to a gentleman from India and he said in effect, “Too bad buddy. No UPC code no rebate. End of story.”
I’ve contested the AmEx billing but a quick check of the net tells me that I have a whole lot of company in this scam and that my chances of ever seeing any rebate money are slim and none.
The moral. Save yourself a lot of headaches, take the cheap free phone and forget those “free after rebate” scams from Wirefly."
"So far so good......
I ordered Motorola V3 Razor with free Motorola HS820 wireless headset offer. Received phone and accessories as promised but with no rebate form with the shipment as promised. The phone rebate is for $180.00 Upon checking the wirefly website to see if form could be downloaded, I found the link provided was no longer working. I had no problem getting through (called same # used to place orders ***-***-****) to a customer service rep (sounds as though from India) who said they will send me a form via mail. They had no explanation as to why the form was not included with my order or not available on-line. They did charge me $39.99 ( not sure if this is valid amount, I ported over old AT&T # to Cingular)for porting my number through from my old carrier and it was done so sucessfully with no problems. After digging around the wirefly website some more and noticing that the contact customer service area was lacking I became suspicious and checked for bad reviews only to find numerous on several websites. My only concern now is being able to receive my rebate. Will post more updates as I find out."
"I placed my order with Wirefly before coming to this site. After coming here, I almost cancelled the order and went straight to the carrier, but decided to let it go through.
I have to say, I didn't see any of the problems that the others who posted here have.
I had two issues with the order that I called into Customer Service for and, although the reps are Indian and hard to understand at times, they resolved both issues with me on the phone, less then 15 minutes each time. I waited on hold no more then 15 minutes combined between the two calls.
I placed my order on 10/23, I received the phone on 10/27. I had selected 2 day delivery, they sent it next day air, no extra charge. If I have anything to complain about it is the fact that the phone got to me faster then the information got to the carrier. I tried to activate the phone and it failed so I called the carrier and was told that I received the phone too fast, they are still setting up my account and porting my old number over.
No big problems, wouldn't rule them out for additional purchases."
"I have never experienced worse customer service in my life. First off they ported my phone number to cingular incorrectly so I had no number for a week.
Then in 2-3 weeks I realized the phone they sent me was defective. So after contacting them about my defective phone, and having them tell me they would call me back, I never heard from them. Then because they didn't call me back they tried to cancel my 30 day guarantee. Saying I was too late. I finally after rude supervisor after rude supervisor and a conference call with cingular got them to agree to send me another phone. Oh yes it gets better. To get my new phone they had to charge me for a new phone, and then credit me when I sent my old phone back... wait... they said they wouldn't credit me unless my old phone was received by the 26th of October.. However I wasn't going to get my new phone until the 26th of October.
After 2 hours on the phone I FINALLY got them to open there eyes, well a little. I agreed to overnight my phone (who knows how much that will cost) the day after I receive theirs. Yes, because they sent me a bad phone more money out of my pocket. So here I am waiting on my new phone, out of pocket the cost of two phones and soon plus shipping, and I don't even have a phone that works correctly.
Additionally there mail in rebate has a fantastic catch! You must send it in no sooner than 180 days afterwards and no later then 210 days. Yes you must wait six months for a one month window.
They are a scam!!!! Do not use this company!
"
"This company sucks. I guess I should've read all the comments about it before making the purchase?!
Is there anyway to put it out of business? I KNEW something was wrong when I never received a wireless blue tooth headset w/my phone. I had to make like 5-7 follow up calls just to get one shipped out. And when it finally did 2 months later, it had the wrong charger w/it!
I hope I have a better time w/the rebate, but we'll see what happens w/that.

"Well it looks like SelectiveMobile.com can be added to the list of aliases this company does business under. The tipoff is that they all use www.whereismyrebate.com for order information and rebates. I could not download any of the rebate forms promised, customer service did not answer my e-mail, and the telephone number provided had me on hold for 40 minutes before I hung up. I began to become suspicious and found this site. I immediately recognized that I had purchased from the same comapany. Fortunately, I discovered this before I even opened the equipment, so I will be sending everything back for a refund BEFORE I get burned. My deal was supposed to be for VERIZON wireless service. It was for the Motorola E-815. There were 4 rebates in all which were supposed to net an after rebate price of $0.00. In addition, I was supposed to get a free bluetooth headset. I searched and searched and could not find another deal like it except for all of the various aliases this company does business under. They all make the same offer, have the same webpage with different compnay headers. My God there's at least 8 of them. The next best deal I could find for the E-815 was with Amazon.com for a $20 profit, after rebate, but no bluetooth headset. At least I know they're reputable. Good luck to everyone out there. Hopefully you will read this before you get burned."
"WARNING! They never send rebate checks to you. Do NOT do any business with them. They do not respond to your email. Sent me a defective phone and no rebates checks even though I met all requirements and set all required documents. Total scam. Shouldn't be in business. I filed a complaint with FTC. "
"I am very disappointed at Wirefly.com for the misleading information and also lack of it when it comes to cell phone rebates. I purchased a phone that was supposed to be free after rebates but they never sent me the forms as it said in the email and on their web site. I had to look for them but I only found one and not the other forms. The form that I was able to find online did not cover my plan so I was never informed as to the eligibility of the rebates. The bill that I got with the phone also tells me that I can get the rebates but one rebate form says for the higher cost plans and I can't even find the other form.
I contacted T-Mobile and they told me that I have 14 days to cancel and should contact Wirefly.com and deal with them.
Unfortunately, you can't get in touch with them because they don't respond to your email. I am thinking that they are waiting for the 14 days to end so you can't return the phone in time and get penalized for it.
One big problem with Wirefly is that they make the process so convoluted that you can't get in touch with anyone or you don't know who to get in touch with in case of problems.
You can't just find customer service contact address, there are dead links on their sites, they point you to two or three other web sites/other companies and you can't get an answer to your question.
They only have a hand full of questions which may not apply to you and that's the end of the line.
I think I am stuck with this and no way to get my rebates.
My suggestion to everyone else is that stay away from (Wirefly.com) you may also see them as (mobiledia.com) or (inphonic.com) they seem to be the same organizations trying to confuse you and take you for a ride.
T-Mobile customer service told me that they can't help me because I did not purchase the phone from them but they are providing at least one of the rebates. The other rebate I can't tell you because I can't get the information for it.
In a nutshell, stay away from WIREFLY.COM, INPHONIC.COM, and MOBILEDIA.COM. There may be other links which may take you to one of the above companies just make sure you are not forwarded to either one of these companies.
I also searched online and found many unsatisfied people complaining about their rebates and phone from WIREFLY.COM.
Needles to say, you've been WARNED to stay away from these companies."
