"In general I was OK with Wirefly: fast delivery, good price for basic phone. But: instructions implied activation was on delivery. It did not take place for 36 hours making it hard to plan with a job-necessary phone. Customer service was slow: phone and chat backed up, email >24hrs. Bottom line: cheap and fast, but confusing instructions, slow activation and backed up service."

"I have been a customer for over two years. I have used Wirefly personally to change carriers the easy way. Their web site is an excellent way to research and view the phones that get the hype from the carriers. Very good "apples to apples" comparisons led me to purchase the best phone for my situation, and at the best price. Now I have more money to spend every month after paying the cell phone bill."

"I hate ordering from this place, but you can't beat their prices. They make the order confusing when the plans don't match up to anything Verizon actually has. Then when I had to call to activate their automated system basically hung up on me the first time, then put me on hold for 10 minutes the second time. I guess that's the pain you must go through to save money."

"This was my first time using Wirefly. I will never, under any circumstance, use Wirefly again. I am an engineer\techie and people frequently ask me where and what to buy. I will also strongly recommend to others that they stay clear of Wirefly.


Allow me to skim over the first order which had to be completely cancelled prior to carrier approval due to Wirefly’s changing of my data rates. This was cancelled before approval and before shipment but I was still charged.


The order number two, which was intended to be a redo of the first, is where things severely broke down. First of all, this took over an hour and a half on the phone to get the order completed. I was repeatedly “promised” that my rate plan would not be changing. Yes, they actually said “promised”. So after the order was completed I waited a day to contact T-mobile to verify my plan had stayed intact. Anything but that was true. Now both my rate plan and my data plans had all changed and increased in price due to Wirefly’s request. T-mobile then recommended I cancel the order, again.

I then contact Wirefly who then verified that I was indeed on a new plan and should have never been told that by previous plan was “compatible” with the price I got on my devices. They apologized, and then gave me an RMA #. Wirefly sent me an email saying to contact T-mobile immediately to verify the cancellation. I did so, and then T-mobile said they could undo Wirefly’s request and allow me to keep the devices. So at this point I’m being fed bogus information on both sides.


In addition, I ordered the upgraded 2nd business day shipping. I was told repeatedly that if the order was completed (I was off the phone by 11:30 am) and approved by that day I would have the phones in hand by Aug 3rd. I got an email saying my phones had shipped around 12:30pm saying the phones had shipped. I immediately noticed the shipping address was incorrect and called to correct. After that was done I got another email saying they had shipped, with the correct address. Now, the phones will not be arriving on the date I paid for, and stayed at home to sign and receive, according to FedEx. We are traveling on the day after (which is why I paid for premium!) and now cannot sign for the packaging.


I called Wirefly AGAIN to ask and they then said that since FedEx didn’t pick up until 5:30pm that I won’t get the phones on the 2nd business day. This direct conflict with the website that claims all orders that get carrier approval prior to 7:00pm will ship the same day. I called asking for a refund for the premium shipping and got the run around by customer service trying to give me screen protectors, cases, etc. (all of which I already have) instead of just giving my $8 back that I received nothing for. Coincidently, when they put me back from hold for the 2nd time, the phone line went dead and I could not hear anything forcing me to call back yet again.

Needless to say, I will never again use wirefly and will recommend that others steer clear of this company. They lied twice, once about rate plan changes, and again about shipping, and did not own up to either of these after the fact.

Buyer beware!


*** Update ***

Wirefly did call me same day as this review posting and remove the shipping charges. Kudos to them for calling. T-mobile had previously fixed the billing blunder created so no comment towards that. I would still say to consider alternatives, especially if you are upgrading and are currently on any grandfathered plans\rates.
