"I received the modem and router combo in very short order, well packaged and as advertised. I did my due diligence re: setups, provider provisioning and system integration. The equipment worked from the start, and integration was smooth and per researched instructions.

"I purchased an EMTA Cisco modem from buyyourownmodem for my **** internet and telephone connection. When I called **** to activate it, the tech support person told me that A. The modem's MAC was flagged as "Do Not Activate" because it was a used modem that had not been returned to **** when the previous customer cancelled their service. B. They said that all EMTA modems should only be purchased from **** and not from a 3rd party seller. So I returned my modem to buyyourownmodem with the above reasons and was still charged a 20% restocking fee and told the problem was all my fault. Buyyourownmodem should at least post a warning that this EMTA modem is not supported by ****. Very poor customer service!"

"I purchased a G1100 modem from them. It had a Frontier label on it but FiOS firmware. The modem worked for several months but then suddenly failed.
I thought it would be OK because the modem carried a one-year warranty, but as I quickly learned it was quite costly to get them to provide me a replacement as I had to pay both to ship it back to them and have them send me a replacement.
I spent $30-$40 to cover the shipping expenses and then it took them several days to ship me my replacement modem. When it arrived I was pleased to see that the replacement had a Fios symbol on it, but it had frontier firmware. The problem with that is that Verizon cannot update a modem that has frontier firmware. I spent several hours talking to multiple levels of support at Verizon and none was able to update the firmware on the modem.
I reached out to this company to ask them to ship me a new one, but I was met with nothing but resistance. Multiple times I requested that they send me a modem similar to the one I originally had (i.e. with Fios firmware) and every time they had a new reason why they wouldn’t do so.
When I told them that I was going to post negative reviews like this, they responded with this:
“Everything you just stated was listed and presented and accepted by you
in order to complete checkout and then you try and extort us that if we
follow through with what you agreed to then you will smear us? Again,
our attorney has been notified of such threats for any necessary future
action as unfortunately it does turn into much more than it ever had to
be once you use extortion but we just sent the item out exactly how the
unit was listed as the biggest mistake was having the 1 year warranty to
as if it was 60 days then you would be SOL like every other seller that
offers this as this is probably why most don't over extended warranties
because of the few customers that abuse them and complain even after
having the alternative to replace it this long after purchase. There is
nothing more to say.”
If you want to deal with a company that offers this level of customer service as well as products of questionable quality (and questionable origin per other reviews... maybe that’s why the firmware on these modems never seems to match the logo on them) then go right ahead. If you want a product from a reputable company that will last… Look elsewhere."
“Very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the modem you used from us for "SEVERAL MONTHS" as you confirm but I must say we are quite shocked at your accusations. Allow us to fulfill the context as you purchased a modem from us OVER 6 MONTHS AGO and stated that you are now having wifi trouble which could be a number of things besides the modem. Nonetheless, we back up our customers with a 1 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY and so you can't lose money from us as you paid $70 for this item which Verizon currently sells for $200 and 6 months later you come back to us and we say we have your back and will issue you a replacement and you smear us?!
Per our purchase terms that were presented and accepted by you at time of checkout we do stated that you would be responsible for shipping both ways which should cost you no more than $15 using the same method we used to ship it to you but somehow you blew $30-$40 and want to blame us for this?
Had you purchased this on Amazon or Ebay or most any other vendor then good luck getting any help as their policy is 60-90 days standard but luckily you bought it from us and so we said we would be willing to issue you a replacement and somehow we end up with a 1 star. If you rented this unit from Verizon then it would cost you $10/month or $120/yr of which you only paid $70 from us with a 1 yr warranty and so we design our warranty so that our customers can't lose!
We are sorry you are not happy that you weren't sent a newer replacement than what was on the original items description page but we will not tolerate customer extortion in threatening to leave bad reviews and smear us if we don't bow to your terms as this is what the terms and conditions are for at time of checkout so we both know how the warranty process is handled.
We have sold THOUSANDS of these unit that customer love as they get a great discount and warranty and in the end you got a working replacement that was the from the exact same description page you originally purchased from and wanted something different and then became hostile and made threats and we responded accordingly.

“We are very sorry to hear that the model you purchased was not accepted by your provider. However, it appears that we don't list this model to work with your provider and then if you read your providers list of approved modems then you would also see that they state that they DO NOT accept third party telephone modems. Nonetheless, you went ahead and purchased this model for your provider despite everything telling you not to as this was not an "unreturned modem" but we buy modems from several providers including Cox as they phase them out as this is an older modem and as such they may have black listed them but we have installed several of this modem on other providers of which were listed right on the items description page. So unfortunately since you purchased this model despite everything telling you not to for this provider the item was returned as was in perfect working condition but was just purchased for the wrong provider which was totally preventable. As such, you were assessed a restocking fee per our purchase terms that were presented and accepted by you in order to complete checkout to cover the costs of a preventable return. Also, listed in our purchase terms it states that you are to contact your provider BEFORE PURCHASE to make sure they will accept a model of which you also failed to do which would have prevented this mishap for all parties and saved a lot of shipping and labor costs. Please please please perform the due diligence before making purchases as there were notices all over that could have prevented this.
