"I ordered a Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro for $819 on 11/05/2012. I just received an email today asking to call in for verbal verification.
I was connected to Logan, who, after obtaining the security code on the back of my credit card, asked for a list of my photography equipment.
I initially thought he was just chit-chatting with me, until he started to tell me that Canon 100mm f/2.8L and 135mm f/2L were not made for 5D Mark II, and I was supposed to get, what he so-called, "DG" lenses.
That's when I realized he was simply trying to sell me overpriced lenses, such as a "discounted" Canon 50mm f/1.4 for $1099, which I bought 5 years ago for $350.
After declining the offer, he, then, moved to "educate" me on "imported" lenses and "US" lenses. According to him, the 100mm lens that I ordered was "imported", which only came with store warranty, and featured plastic ring, while the "US" counterpart would have metal ring and carry a price tag of $1049.
I immediately rebutted him that all the Canon lenses were the same regardless of market. All the lenses are imported, unless you buy them in Japan, since they are all made in Japan. The only difference between gray market and US market models is the warranty coverage. However, even that difference is usually not the case in real life. Canon still covers gray market lenses just like the US ones, as long as you can produce the original receipt from an authorized dealer.
I, again, declined Logan's attempt to rip me off. In return, he cancelled my order.
Yet another bait and switch scheme failed to play out.

I was just contacted by OverstockDigital.com's self-claimed customer service supervisor, Derek. Derek has just tried to offer me a free 3-(crappy)-filter kit to remove this review. I declined and told him that I had just order a retail market lens from another company for $899 with free one-day shipping. He, then, went on to offer me the gray market model for $799, in exchange for the removal of this review. I immediately declined, for one, I wouldn't want more headaches from them, not to mention that this offer would most certainly not going to be honored.
Being unsuccessfully in manipulation, Derek grasp onto the last straw, raised his voice, and threatened to charge me cancellation fees. I don't know where he got such a creative idea from, but there's no mention of cancellation fees anywhere on their website. On the other hand, little did he know, he has violated Massachusetts General Law Part IV, Title I, Chapter 265, Section 25, which says:
"Whoever, verbally [...] maliciously threatens [...], with intent thereby to extort money or any pecuniary advantage, or with intent to compel any person to do any act against his will, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than fifteen years, or in the house of correction for not more than two and one half years, or by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars, or both."
Now, do yourselves a favor, stay away from these guys, no matter what other 5-star-rating reviewers say. IMHO, they are all bogus and sound exactly the same.

I am stunned by the shamelessness of OverstockDigital.com. They are adding insult to injury by accusing me of Libel, with lies after lies.

If offering me a 3-filter-kit and $20 reduction in lens purchase for the removal of this review isn't a sufficient indication of bribery, what is? In fact, there are several users having admitted to change their 1 or 2-star reviews in favor of Overstock Digital after they were offered incentives (see chaivelevz's review on 11/07). Remember that I do not gain anything for spending hours writing this review, and dodging insults from OverstockDigital.

Let me restate what really happened. I had to cancel ONE (1) order with them, because I wanted to use a different credit card. Upon the confirmation of the cancellation, I placed ONE (1) and the only order on 11/05/2012 for the same lens with OverstockDigital, and this is the order that I base my review on.

"if you placed another order and decided to cancel there would be a penalty as you kept placing and cancelling order for unknown reasons so there was no violation of any Laws."
Derek was well aware of the fact that the only cancellation that I have requested was to change the credit card that I would be using. He literally told me that he knew that, when I mentioned to him, but he wouldn't care. Besides, as I have mentioned above, there's no mention of cancellation fees anywhere on their website. They are lying.
May justice be served upon them.

"I decided to shorten my previously lengthy review in order to be less annoying to and more succinct for this website’s audience. Simply put, I ordered a Canon 580ex ii Speedlite and had a similar shipping issue to the customer who ordered the exact same item from OverstockDigital and who posted about it in a October 5, 2012 post below.
Despite OverstockDitigal’s response, below, the hurricane did not impact the shipping delays for my order, just as the hurricane did not impact the shipping delays for the other customer’s order who had previously purchased the same item through OverstockDigital. Following my order, and in a follow-up conversation with customer service, I was simply told that the item would not ship in the 5-to7 business days as advertised, but rather there would be a 4-to-6 week delivery delay since the item was on backorder due to lack of inventory. Not even a passing reference to hurricane-related delays was made as an explanation for the 4-to-6 week delays.
As a side note, I’d also like to mention that Overstock Digital contacted me way too many times by phone and e-mail, urging me to revise my review and mention how they’d express shipped my item and made such-and-such accommodations to hold up their end of the transaction. Not only are these phone calls and e-mails unprofessional in my opinion, but they are thoroughly unwarranted since they were requesting revised and positive reviews before they’d fully performed and delivered anything to me.
I only hope that this item arrives in the mail, today.
