"When I initially placed my order on April 29, 2008, the Amazon website page for my item (a single DVD) stated "Usually ships in 1-2 weeks." The website did NOT list it as being "temporarily out of stock!" If it had, I most certainly would NOT have ordered the item. I NEVER order items that are out of stock, temporarily or otherwise.
So, I waited patiently for 2 weeks now, without a word from Amazon otherwise, expecting confirmation that my DVD had been shipped.
Then, ON THE FINAL DAY given in the estimated shipping range - and I quote "Shipping estimate: May 7, 2008 - May 15, 2008" - only after I submitted an inquiry on the status of my order, Amazon's "customer service" representative sent me an email that states "still the item is listed as
'Temporarily out of stock'"?! STILL? When it was not even listed as such when I placed my order (not to mention, several days after I placed my order - because I checked on more than one occasion)?
And then, the Amazon rep had the audacity to inform me that the item will not be available until June 28?!
I might expect this type of customer service (or lack thereof) from one of the Amazon Marketplace sellers; but not from Amazon itself. And the poor reporting/updating of their website is absurd. I actually believe they did not update the website until after they received and researched my inquiry."
"I ordered a camera and several accessories from Amazon along with two day shipping. Turns out one of the accessories was from an Amazon affiliate and it took a little while before Amazon was able to pack everything together in order to ensure two day shipping, so Amazon in all their greatness next day shipped my package to ensure that I received my order on the day that it was promised with two day shipping. Turns out the camera was defective so I had to ship it back, well I did and they even paid for return shipping and even paid for next day shipping on the return package. That is what I call EXCELLENT customer service and consumer buying experience."
"I ordered 2 stroboframe quick flip brackets from amazon recently, which amazon said that there was 2 in stock. I just now 6 days later received an email stating that amazon will not be able to SHIP my order until JULY 14!!! "First let me thank ResellerRatings.com from the bottom of my heart for saving my bacon on this one. I first ordered a Nuvi 660 from 86th Street Photo. When I started getting the runaround, I found out the true story on them via ResellerRatings.com. I canceled my order as quick as I could and luckily escaped their clutches. I then ordered the 660 from Amazon.com. Sure I paid a little bit more than 86th was advertising, but I got a nice shiny new unit that I am tickled to deal with. It also sounded like 86th was planning to pull a few accessories from the box on me. I also ordered a few other items from Amazon at the same time and everything came through just fine. Amazon is still a 5 out of 5 in my book. Life is simply too short to deal with the hassles of the crooks that are lurking around out there. Stick with Amazon and they will be good to you. "I have purchased many things through Amazon. That has now stopped. I made an order in January for three items. Two shipped promptly. The other started a three month saga. The ship date was extended time after time all the while it continued to be shown as "In Stock" on the web site. I tried to resolve this on many occasions. Several time I was told that the "In Stock" report on the web was an error and it would take up to a week to resolve. It was never resolved. On two occasions, I was promised that it would be resolved and shipped.
I was told that they would credit my account $10, toward future purchase, for my trouble and I waited again.
I contacted the manufacturer of the item and they assured me that their were plenty even as Amazon kept telling me that it was back ordered from the supplier.
Finally after inquiring to another extension, I received an e-mail from a member of a "special team" that resolves problems. I was told that a 'glitch' in the computer was holding up my order and that I needed to cancel and reorder. I voiced a concern that canceling the order would deny the higher-ups the data on problems. I then received a reply from a different "special team" member offering a $50 refund and that he had canceled my order and entered the item in my shopping cart. I would have to notify them of the order number.
1. Why could they not fix the problem without my intervention? I asked. It was not answered.
2. Why should I trust that they will get me the $50 promised when they cannot do their basic business promptly. Would not a $50 credit in my account be more appropriate or just discount my original order?
3. Why no continuity of contact from the "special team." They left me no way to contact the same person. I only got a link to the form to input and get a response from a different person.
Buy if you wish from this company but, they have lost my business. I worked hard to find a similar price on a GPS I just bought. Amazon is easy as long as there are no problems."
"The order process for a Next Generation Anywhere Remote was straight forward and it arrived when promised. It was dead-on-arrival. I asked for a replacement on the customer service web page, and Amazon sent me return shipping label. A day or two later I got notification Email that NY Electronics was out of stock and did not expect more for 6+ weeks, so I asked for a refund. A follow up check 1-2 days later showed a different Amazon retailer currently offering them at the same price, but Amazon would/could not do the replacement that way. The refund got to my credit card in a reasonable time."

"I ordered a soft case for a camera and three books. All items were available in stock. On the fourth day after order date Amazon did not ship them yet, and their system indicated that it would take two more days before the package leaves their warehouse. I called their customer services and inquired about the reason for such a long delay. I was told that the only reason was their policy to delay orders for which free shipping was selected. I congratulated their business model and canceled the whole order. This is not the first time that I had such problems with Amazon.com."
"Purchased Pioneer speakers TS 1343R from Amazon on sept 16,2010 and on the web page it said that grills were included, they are not, pioneer does not include Grills with that model speaker, I email Amazon pointing this out, and they offered to allow me to return the speakers, which had already been installed and other grills used-thinking that would correct the web page,they did not nor have they as of 11-18-2010 and this is after having talked to customer service on the telephone. The last email they sent me again offered to allow me to return the Speakers but say anything about correcting the the web page, We should not have to double check everything Amazon sells."
