"Buy.com delayed shipping my external hard drive using the excuse that the order was still in the "fulfillment phase" whatever that is. When the item did arrive it was DOA. I emailed Buy.com twice and finally received a response on May 5th that they would not issue an RMA. I wanted a working hard drive not a refund. I even told them to send me a bare drive and I would install it in the external case myself. All they would do was to refer me to the manufacturer for an RMA. You can bet that this is my last purchase from Buy.com. BTW, I contacted the manufacturer, distributor and they gave me an RMA almost immediatelly, Bason Computers Inc., good folks at Bason. "

"Never trust this shop and Never fall for their Google Checkout saving bucks! I ordered a ANYCOM HS-777 Bluetooth C-Style Headset (which had a mail in rebate) thru' Google Check out. I ordered a Magellan GPS Dash Mount along with this order which was costing me $19 after Google Checkout (the total was $ 43.13). BUT I am totally screwed as they didn't send me the bluetooth as they told that merchant didn't send them the stuff. They wanted me to cancel the order. I told them I can wait as I will loose the Google Checkout saving if the order is less than 30$. Their telephone support is awful as nobody ever picks the phone. One fine day, without notice they canceled my order and refunded $13 which ultimately resulted in the spending $30 for a less costing dash mount. It is double the price than other merchants offered. Nobody answers your call and I emailed them this discrepancy. They told me that they don't have any control over this order and asked me to contact Google! Joke of the year. This shop is so cheap with all refurbished second grade stuffs! Beware with this merchant. They rarely satisfy your orders!"

"I was offered a $15 price reduction. I explored it enough to learn that I had to sign up for a travel service to get the $15. I backed out, not agreeing to anything. I was signed up for the travel service anyhow, and charged $11.99 a month."

"I've place an order with ca.buy.com on 02/03/07, a webcam and a mouse pad. They send me the mouse pad few days later. (charged) But NEVER send me the webcam. I keep on asking and they keep on telling me is on back order. Almost 3 months later, today 04/25/07, I ask them how much longer do I have to wait, then they finally told me Product No Longer Available. But check on their website, the product is Product No Longer Available EVERYDAY in the past 3 months. http://www.ca.buy.com/searchresults.aspx?queryType=0&qu=vx-6000 Also I've check this item in warehouse through other online store, it does have stock, it's NOT a discontinue product. I did ask them why before and today. They told me items run out of stock before we can update this information BUT they also said 'We update our web site once every 24 hours.' Simple, for special price item, ALWAYS NO STOCK!!! I did do a price-match with staples.ca when it's on sale and Stples.ca accept it. Finally I choose ca.buy.com because they are BBB member (I though can be trust) and stapls.ca have to charge me $15 for shipping. If ca.buy.com told me it's wrong pricing or No Longer Available earlier, I can get it with staples.ca. Also I don't have to buy the mouse pad for a high price (compare to other store). I saw this special on pricenetwork.ca, now I also find out many people got the same problem with this company. NEVER honor their special price product.
They reply from BBB finally said is incorrect price but base on their terms, they will NOT sell it for that price.

"Worst online shopping experience ever!.

Placed an order with these tards for a 2GB memory
kit required to build my niece a PC for her birthday. Out of the blue, some turd at Buy.com cancels the order. No phone call, no email explicitly stating the problem, no request to contact them to resolve, NOTHING!. I've purchased hundreds of dollars worth of goods from these clowns without incident and some mental midget decides to play god at the worse possible moment.

Oh! Contacting customer service via phone is virtually impossible.

Thanks for ruining my niece's birthday !!!.

"Aviod Buy.com at all costs!!!! I purchased a Navman PIN 570 - Personal Digital Assitant/Navigation Device and when it arrived it appears the battery was dead and would not charge. Since Buy.com calculates retuns within ONLY 15 days of when THEY say it shipped, they refused to offer a replacement nor issue a RMA. Thus I am stuck with a $160.00 paperweight... I will never give Buy.com another penny of my business, nor my families and associates.."

"I cannot understand why Buy.com has such a low rating on here. It makes me doubt the honesty of the customers...I have purchased so many things from Buy.com - a digital camera, many SD and MicroSD cards, movies, books, computer ram, and most recently a Belkin Battery backup. On the most recent order, I am most definitely extremely pleased. I ordered it after 10pm on a Wednesday night with the free shipping (7-10 days) since I wasn't in too big of a hurry. It arrived that Friday - basically overnight shipping! Now, that is extremely unusual for purchases from Buy.com, but I've never had them be late, except when something was out of stock, of which they inform you immediately through e-mail. I have had to cancel orders because the item was out of stock, but have never had any trouble whatsoever. I have had to return items because I ordered the wrong kind, had no problems. I have done several rebates through Buy.com, again, no problems whatsoever. Buy.com is one store that I recommend time and time again without any reservation whatsoever. I wish every e-tailer operated as smoothly as Buy.com, and I wish they would get a fair rating from you other customers.

UPDATE: June 5, 2007 - Received the $10 rebate on one of these items this week...just a month after I sent it in. Pretty quick turnaround.

"They advertised an item but took them three weeks to tell me that they could not ship and it was no longer available even though they had it on the webpage as a special of the day.....huge waste of time. Now it will take another two weeks for them to credit my credit card. BYE BUY.COM!!!"

"What a nightmare dealing with this merchant! I ordered an LCD moniter from them on 4/09/07 that was listed in stock. After five days and no notices from them I inquired to find out that item was in fact out of stock and they had no idea when it would be in stock. After nine days I cancelled and was informed twenty four hours later that they could not cancell order because item shipped one day AFTER I cancelled! Unacceptable...and on top of that all responses to my emails said they would respond to me in three to five business days...unacceptable again! I re-ordered with newegg and got the moniter in two days! Finally I had to refuse buy.coms delivery and it's still up in the air if I'll have to refute the charge with my credit card company. Stay away from these guys!"

"Ordered all 3 seasons of Gilligans Island on 4-13-07, all 3 show in stock will ship in 1-2 days, they shipped seasons 1-3 on 4-17-07, e-mail said season 2 on order even though their site still says in stock, so they are not honest about what is in stock. Also today is 4-29-07 and I still have not received season 1-3 even though it has been over 10 business days, this is unacceptable. 3 emails to customer service only netted form letter responses, in other words no response or explanation of delays.

I have ordered several more times since this review was posted, and have always received the products ordered, but have not had a delay or problem that required customer service contact, so I have not changed the customer service overall rating but did up their rating on overall satifaction, cost, and likely to buy from again ratings

"Their prices are usually just a penny or so under Amazon for Books, but I'd still buy from Amazon.

Do not purchase anything intending to get a refund because they price match. They will not. I have tried many times, and they always deny it - their common excuse was that it was used with Google, and they do not price match with purchases done with Google.

Their customer service is awful. There have been several times I returned something (due to the fact they would not pricematch) and even though the tracking # said it was recieved by them, they said they never got it. I only got a refund by filing a claim with the BBB.

"Placed the order 7 business days ago. Item is in-stock. Still has not shipped. Multiple frustrating calls to customer service indicate that some kind of credit card address verification is holding up the order. Credit card company indicates there is no problem on their end. Buy.com refuses to let me speak with verification department, will not give me a timeframe for resolution. I am just expected to wait. Was promised a resolution "within 24 hours" two days ago. Calls and emails get me nowhere. Very frustrating.

Update: Called corporate and requested someone who handles customer service. Gentleman was very willing to help, transfered me directly to the person I needed to talk to. She then helped me immediately clear up the issue, released the order, and upgraded the shipping to 2nd-day air.

A pleasant resolution after all.

"The buying experience at buy.com was great to start with, the best price any ware for the item - and in stock, and even shipped in a timely manner. It wasn't until we get to the delivery date and find out that the shipping service needs to have an appointment made to deliver the package and they would have called us to schedule it 2 days ago if buy.com had supplied my contact number. I called the shipping service and they made it vary clear that my phone number was not included in the shipping information, so I didn't get a call from them. Next I would think do I get an email from buy.com telling me that I needed to call to get it delivered since they didn't send my phone number to them. They have no such service. If I had not called the shipping service, they would have sent my item back to buy.com and I really would have been out of luck. Buy.com really needs to fix this communication issue before I will buy from them again. I guess I should have come to this site before I bought from them and saw the 2 or 3 review rating. I don't think I would have placed the order."

"Purchased a SUPPOSED "refurb" 42" Vizio plasma TV. Upon receiving the TV, I noticed the box said it was "refurb C" stock. My unit was defective, and buy.com would do NOTHING about it. After contacting Vizio for warranty service, they said Vizio sells "refurb C" stock for PARTS ONLY, AS THEY ARE JUST BROKEN RETURNS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN SERVICED! Buy.com DID NOT ADVERTISE this TV as such! I am contacting the CA AG office because this is FRAUD!"
