"Placed an order for a monitor from Buy.com late Friday afternoon based on price and other site's ratings of the store. I was very concerned when I read about the terrible experience of others posting here but fortunately my experience has been excellent. Even though I chose free shipping (supposed to take 7-9 bus days), monitor arrived the day after the order was transmitted to FedX. Have not had problems so I can't comment on customer service but so far everything is better than expected."

I was surprised to see the majority of reviews for BUY.com are so negative. I have ordered many times from BUY.com for over a year even purchasing televisions that exceeded $1000 in price and all my experiences have been positive ones. I do suggest that buyers make sure they are 100% positive they want what they order as refunds are always a hassle online in my opinion. It seems like many of the negative reviews here involve buyers changing their minds about orders they made and I really do not know any site that is perfect or even very good regarding returns.Returns are aggravating online and take a long time to complete.Also if you use a credit card or PayPal to pay be sure your billing address is where you want the Order shipped.Most sites will question Orders with shipping addresses different than billing address because the credit card company's require it be checked into. I wonder how BUY.com would rate if the reviews regarding buyer's changing their Orders and requesting delivery to addresses other than those on file with their credit card were removed??I really think the ratings and numbers BUY.COM has received on this site are out of whack and far too low.That could also be because more people post reviews when they are not pleased than do customers who were satisfied. You can often save alot of money ordering from BUY.COM if you know exactly what you want to buy. I will also mention that a major respected consumer magazine,one I respect and admire, recently reviewed BUY.com and found them to be an above average shopping site and a very good site for price. I have found that review to be accurate from my experience. This is one of the few sites I know that requires buyers to sign for deliveries whether they ship FedEx or UPS.And to BUY.com: you need to step up to the plate and address and respond to the many negative reviews about your site posted here at ResellerRatings.com. You are not perfect but you are not the monster these reviews would paint you as. So take charge and devote some time on customer service image issues --people want to know the truth about you in normal transactions and I doubt that you are as bad as the reviews here seem to indicate."

Customer service says, "Your order is delayed and we have no estimated ship date. Thank you for your patience." Um... yeah. "I placed an order for a Logitech S510 wireless keyboard and mouse on April 19th around midnight. I had been looking forward to getting a keyboard with a tiny USB "stick" receiver, and I was under the impression that the S510 came with one.
Just after placing my order, however, I discovered that only the S510's that were bundled with a Media Remote came with the tiny USB stick receiver; the one I ordered came with a big, bulky receiver which I wanted nothing to do with. I immediately logged back on to the Google Checkout web site and sent a message to Buy.com requesting order cancellation.
The following morning, I woke up and went to Buy.com to check on my order status. It said that my cancellation request had been received and was being processed - which was great, especially considering that I had ordered in the middle of the night and placed the cancellation request literally minutes after putting in the order in the first place. Great indeed...
I logged back on to my computer this afternoon after lunch to double-check that the order wasn't shipped...and I found out that despite the fact that Buy.com ACKNOWLEDGED THEY HAD RECEIVED MY CANCELLATION REQUEST, they went ahead and shipped the order.
I have never dealt with a store so recklessly irresponsible in my life. These people are nothing but charlatans who will hold on to your money from the SECOND you place your order, even if you put in a cancellation request MINUTES AFTER MAKING THE ORDER like I did.
I generally consider myself a savvy online trader, but this is the first time I've gotten scammed and I'm absolutely livid. I've already contacted the BBB, but since I doubt they'll do anything it looks like I'm going to be stuck with something I don't want - all because Buy.com so salivated over making ~$30 from my order that they shipped out the product even after they had acknowledged my cancellation request.
STAY AWAY no matter how much you want to order from these crooks.
EDIT: My complaints to Buy.com through the BBB have finally come to a close.
Their initial response to my complaint simply shrugged off my issue and said that they have issues with Google Checkout. Obviously, I wasn't going to settle for that so I responded with a VERY long and well-written rebuttal in which I brought the BBB's attention to Buy.com's rating here on ResellerRatings.
After waiting for over a week to receive their final response I received a final communique which was mean-spirited, unfair, and took words and phrases out of context in order to spin my comments and defame my character. And apparently, the person who wrote this final response can't read English very well since they claimed that I never mentioned anything about a refund until I submitted my rebuttal. Why on earth would I bother contacted the BBB about a product that shouldn't have been shipped to me unless I wanted a refund?
But despite Buy.com's inability to understand English, they did agree to an RMA with a pre-paid shipping label. Despite this seemingly satisfactory ending to my complaints through the BBB, though, I never should have had to try and force their hand through the BBB and I DEFINITELY shouldn't have been subject to the spin and malarkey that comprised their final response.
These people are criminals. If you're having issues with Buy.com, CONTACT THE BBB. Maybe all of us who have been conned by Buy.com can make their BBB rating match the rating here at ResellerRatings."

Ordered a Video Card for $250, and later that day it got marked as on back order. Later that day, the same card was listed as "In Stock" for $330. I contacted buy.com and asked about status - why is my order on backorder when the item is in stock? Their response:
"We apologize for any inconvenience this order may have caused you. Due to a setback from the supplier, item #204134658 (PNY XLR8 GeForce 8800GTS 320MB PCI Express x16 Video Card) with the price of $249.99 on your order is currently on backorder. We are still working hard on your order to be filled.
Please note that said item is indeed in stock, however, for a different price of $337.14."
The next day the price was $260 and listed in stock, so I contacted them again:
"Thank you for your email regarding order # 33189940.
We apologize that the delivery of your order is taking longer than expected. Due to a setback from the supplier, item # 204134658 (PNY XLR8 GeForce 8800GTS 320MB PCI Express x16 Video Card) on your order is currently on backorder. "
What a joke. This is my last experience with Buy.com.
EDIT: After cancelling my order, almost a week went by and my Paypal account was not credited back for the purchase. I waited four business days before finally filing a complaint with Paypal. Within 24 hours my Paypal account was credited. I won't be shopping at Buy.com ever again, but I am very impressed with Paypal!"
"I placed an order for an item KD-BT1 and received a complete different item, an ND-BT1 that isn't even manufactured by the same company. Finding out the status of your order is diffciult and confusing, especially since I received a wrong item and i received no notice at all of the wrong item being shipped and also their website still shows that my order hasn't even been shipped yet. Dealing with Buy.com is confusing and their website conflicts with the actual order status. I will most likely cancel my payment and my order from them. Their customer service is difficult and elusive, there is not a single phone number on their website. I will give them a couple days to straighten out the mess, but even if i receive the correct item finally, I will never deal with them again. "
"These guys are so lousy to deal with if you need to do anything other than spend your money there.
I received a DEFECTIVE item and they charged me a restocking fee and I had to even pay to have it shipped BACK to them! It was a flash memory item, after shipping and tax, it came to $43.19. I ended up receiving a refund of $33 and had to pay $5 to ship it back......and it was DEFECTIVE. They are terrible and I told the rep not to expect another dime from me. Thank God for NewEgg and Amazon who know how to take care of their customers."
"This is far and away the worst experience I've had with ordering online. I ordered an Antec Spot Cool fan on April 8th, got it for a very good price, and according to FedEx it was shipped out on April 9th. Fast forward to today, April 18th and I still haven't received it, despite the fact that I used 3-5 day shipping. I call up FedEx and they tell me that the item wasn't even shipped yet. Unbelievable. So I call Buy.com and they confirm that it hasn't been shipped yet. They said they would ship a replacement, but it would take 3-5 business days to process the claim, and then another 3-5 days to receive the item. I instead chose to cancel the order, even though it'll take just as long to actually get the money back to my credit card.
This was easily the worst experience I've had with an e-tailer. They don't ship out my item and then when I want to call and ask about it, it takes 25 minutes to answer my call. It probably took so long because other people were calling in to voice their problems. I can now see why Buy.com's rating is so low, especially the 6-month rating. Just unacceptable from every aspect. They were so quick to charge my credit card and get their money, but they don't even have common sense to ship out my item. UNACCEPTABLE! This is the last time I ever do business with Buy.com. E-tailers like ClubIT and Newegg have more respect for their customers and that's why they have such high ratings, they take the time to make sure their customers are comfortable and get everything on time. Newegg would've sent out a replacement immediately with overnight shipping. With Buy.com, it would probably take another 2 weeks to get the replacement, and that's if they actually decide to send this one out.
Again, totally unacceptable stuff, they are not deserving of my money. I went with them because the price seemed too good to be true... turns out it was."

"Their customer service is a !!nightmare!! Here are literal excerpts from email traffic between Buy.com service representatives and myself trying to sort out a coupon offered on their site. For the record I **did not** use Google Checkout to make the purchase as their customer service reps insinuated.
BUY.COM: (first reply) "Our findings suggest you have placed the order through Google Checkout. This is the reason you are unable..."
ME: "With all due respect, your findings are incorrect - I am looking at the order summary on your web site..." (there is nothing even resembling payment made through Google Checkout on the order summary)
BUY.COM: (second reply) "You can purchase most things offered at Buy.com, but because of the
unique nature of a Google Checkout purchase, there are some restrictions..." (from there more rambling about Google Checkout restrictions)
Obviously the second rep was too lazy to read the background of the problem which was, in it's entirety, available for her to read.
This is on top of the fact that the item was listed in stock when I bought it - a day later I see a "Surprise Backorder Notification on Order..." in the Message Center (your order/account details) With NOTHING stating when they expect the next shipment.
Needless to say I cancelled the order. I'm afraid of how much effort it will take to straighten out refunding my credit card.
One word sums up their service - pathetic.
4/20/07 UPDATE
Buy.com receives the LCD monitor resulting from my order cancellation (I refused delivery from FedEx) on 4/16, 10:46am PST. The next day I get an email from their customer service: "A refund of $XXX.XX has been requested towards your order. Please note that this is only a request and needs to be approved before the refund is applied. If the request is approved, an email will be sent to you..." - **if** the request is approved?!?! WTF?!?! This is in direct conflict with an earlier apologetic email that stated "We apologize for any inconvenience and offer you three options when your order arrives:". Option 2: "You may refuse shipment for a full refund..."
After all the stupidity I had to deal with I figured it would take forever (if ever) before I got refunded, but thankfully a full refund was issued on 4/18. I will definitely never do business with them ever again."
"After reading all the negative reviews I must of been really lucky. Last Thursday I found the 3rd season of Gilligan's Island for $14.99, which is half of anywhere else.
